[VIDEO/PICTURES] "I am ready to go again with my bowling" : Naseem Shah

He looks like some one who can bowls 138-142k all day long , I think its enough if his effort delivery rises to late 140s.

138-142kph can be enough if you bowl good areas all day and move it a little.
This is exactly what Pat Cummins does and he is currently the best test bowler in the world.

Regarding his speeds, to me he looks quicker than Musa who bowls around 140kph. Let's see.

A good 6 wicket haul That will give him confidence and also cements his place in the XI for the first test.

Musa's top speed that has been recorded is 148 kph. But in First class he looked to be consistently low 140s, and Naseem looks about the same pace or faster in First Class. Both have incredible fitness and have the ability to keep bowling fast throughout the day and match.

The boy has made his point. Pull him out from the second innings and get the test specialists in a plane to Australia ASAP.

Nice to see him playing lots of first class. PCB must keep our young prospects away from t20 cricket.

Well i think that is guaranteed now he wont be playing under 19 world cup

He's replied and says he wants to play in the U19 World Cup.

I doubt the PCB will let him though.

Breath of fresh air in troubled times.

Looking forward to seeing him bowl in Australia.

Hope he stays away from the dark side...

We have finally a young world-class bowler after Amir and I hope he doesn’t get trapped.

The world will be following him.

Indeed.

Fame and fortune, the lure of well-wishers who aren't really well-wishers, the lure of T10 and T20 tournaments here, there and everywhere.

If he has a brain he will but most of our players are not very bright and that is putting it mildly.

He is at least 19 Years old. No way a 16 year old kid has a body and muscle mass like this.

Probably will retire at 27 years age.

All U19 cricketers ages are medically checked now. Also I have had teamates in New Zealand at 15 and 16 who were the same build or even more muscular than Naseem. It's possible you know and it's not that uncommon. The 2 pacers I have been bowling with for the past 5 years were built like Naseem or bigger at 15/16.

He looks to have those bones and shoulder muscles developed. I have never seen any 15 or 16 years old with that. And medical check up will no way come with the result that he is 16 years old.

You are making very tall claims based on very flimsy evidence.

And I have in my own team. Some people's shoulders and muscles develop early, that's why he can bowl so quick. And how can you be so sure of his bones if you haven't checked them.

It must be a rare case then. You don't normally see a 16 years old like this.

12 months back he had the face and the body of a random 15 year old only last 6 months he seems to have grown big possibly he is doing gym work . I don't think he is 16 but I also don't think he is above 18.

There is even a video of him from Pakpasion on Youtube in October 2018 claiming that he is a 16 years old. 12 months later he is still 16 years old and has about 4 months before he turns 17.

This is him 2.5 years back www.facebook.com/Abdulqadircricketa...ubai-tour-2017-against-aust/1169159159805412/

Which is why he can bowl quick. People who get into proffesional sports at a young age are usually an anomaly when it comes to physique. Obviously he has developed early, which is why he is so far ahead of every one of his age. He also must be a natural fast bowler.

That's U16, that doesn't specify age. You can be 14 and play U16. He clearly looks like a really young teen in that pic (around 14). I remember last year when he took a 6fer for ZTBL cricinfo said he was 15.

He is a typical Pathan teenager, very young but strong and fit .

Medically tested by PCB lol

Don’t know about Naseem but I know three U19 cricketers that are overage.

Sorry to burst the bubble, yes there are wrist test before selecting the squad for ICC tournament but they just ensure that the players age is not 20 or over and that's it, lots of U19 players which are actually 18/19 reduce it to 15/16.
Naseem Shah real age is 18, confirmed from another U19 player who I can't name now.

4.3 Prior to the U19 Event:
4.3.1 Once a Player has been selected by a National Cricket Federation for inclusion in its Squad
for an U19 Event, the Player must complete and submit to his/her National Cricket
Federation the Age Determination Form together with the Age Determination Documents.
4.3.2 Each National Cricket Federation must review the completed Age Determination Forms
and the Age Determination Documents for all Players selected for inclusion in its Squad
for an U19 Event and ensure that all Players who are subsequently named in its Squad for
an U19 Event comply with the eligibility criteria set out at Articles 4.1 and 4.2 (as
applicable).
4.3.3 Each National Cricket Federation must submit to the ICC by no later than one month prior
to the commencement of the relevant Support Period (as such term is defined in the
regulations for the relevant U19 Event) the completed Age Determination Forms and Age
Determination Documents for all Players who it has named (or intends to name) in its
Squad for an U19 Event, in accordance with the regulations for that U19 Event.
4.3.4 Upon receipt and review of the completed Age Determination Forms and Age
Determination Documents submitted by each National Cricket Federation for the Players
named in its Squad, the ICC may request additional information and/or documentation from
any Player and/or his/her National Cricket Federation (which can include, for the avoidance
of doubt, further copies of any Age Determination Documents) in order to verify that
Player’s age.
4.3.5 If a Player fails or refuses to submit any information and/or documentation requested by
the ICC pursuant to Article 4.3.4, the ICC may, without prejudice to any disciplinary
proceedings that may be brought pursuant to Article 6, immediately disqualify the Player
from the U19 Event.
4.3.6 If, based on the evidence in its possession, the ICC is:
(a) not reasonably satisfied that a Player meets the eligibility criteria set out in Articles
4.1 or 4.2 (as applicable); and/or
(b) not reasonably satisfied that a Player’s Age Determination Documents are
accurate and authentic,
the ICC may, without prejudice to any disciplinary proceedings brought pursuant to
Article 6, immediately disqualify the Player from the U19 Event.

Pretty sure he is 16 or 17.

Actually your wrist age can be 20 and you can still qualify for u19s that is the only leniancy ICC gave giving in the name of margin for error, don't think many players can get much out of it though.

The media, the critics and even out-and-out haters generally have no choice but to zip it when young players are given opportunities.
Youngsters not only bring the promise of something new but also the possibility of a rare jackpot that a generational talent could be unearthed.

But then there is something called too young. This is where the newly called up Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah fits the bill.

This 16-year-old’s inclusion in the Test squad for the Australia Test series excited some but also drew murmurs that to pick him for the tour of Australia was akin to feeding him to the lions.

It may be a bother for some but for the boy himself, the kid who’s still a 105 days away from his 17th birthday, it’s nothing
“I do not have any pressure from the fact that my age gets discussed so much. I do not think about my age. I only think of performing at the highest level,” he told an assortment of reports at an open media session in Lahore on Saturday.

Instead of letting himself be distracted by outside chatter, Shah says he want to focus harder than ever on his cricket.

“I am grateful to God that I am getting the chance to represent Pakistan at this age. This time though, I will work harder than usual so I could avail this chance,” he said.

Shah, who took nine wickets for Central Punjab in the drawn Quaid-e-Azam Trophy clash with Sindh earlier this week, will leave for Australia shortly. There, some of the world’s best batsmen await him.

When asked if he has a specific plan to deal with the likes of Steve Smith and David Warner, he said: “It’s not that just the wickets of David Warner and Steve Smith are important. A bowler has to work hard for all the wickets and every wicket is important for him. [As a bowler] you only focus on bowling well.”—Agencies

Pakistan's strategy should be to target the batsmen around Warner and Smith. Bowl tight to these 2. Warner is likely to give you a chance, so it is important to take the chances. No one has been able to find a chink in Smith's armour, so maybe Pakistan shouldn't even try to. The better option might be to bowl tight and try and block off his heavy scoring areas. Abbas should be assigned this task. Shaheen may trouble Smith (unlikely, but possible) as Smith isn't the strongest (he's strong, his own weakest bowling type) against Lefties and Shaheen is also tall with decent pace.

Naseem can attack the other batsmen with his pace by bowling full at off stump and a bouncer or 2 every over.

He is clocking 143/144k currently as per himself.

Pretty sure on Aus guns he will be touching 147k atleast.

I just hope expectations are realistic.

We shouldn't expect miracles from the kid straight away.

Mickey Arthur speaking on TV

"I saw Naseem Shah at the NCA, he had a stress fracture last year so he was working on his back and rehabbing. I've seen a bit of him and he's very exciting. He's got genuine pace, and he's a bowler who could play a significant role for Pakistan's Test cricket development in the not too distant future. This will be a learning tour for him, you have to be able to put 6 balls in the right area otherwise these batsmen will be onto you. He'll learn and learn quickly"

Bowling versus Australia A

Very smooth action , will be a good learning curve for him in australia. Not expecting him to get a lot of wickets but sure will be something to watch. Hope he is used in short spells. Donkey work should be done by yasir shah and imran khan.

This lad is good. He is getting all the Aussies for a match up with Steve Smith. That's how impressed they are of him.

All at the age of 16. Unbelievable.

Let's hope he only gets better and breaks many records. We could see this guy for 20 years!!!!

You can clearly see he is at another level compared to Hasnain and Musa.

So pleasing to see a young pakistani bowler having control on line and length. Speciall talent ma sha Allah.

Yeah him and Shaheen are ahead off all the prospects and by a distance too. Hasnain and Musa are both fair way away to be international standard currently

Naseem Shah: Performance Watch

Bowled well despite the tough time he’s going through

Let’s see how far he goes in his career

Especially a right handed bowler

They have been scarce in quality recently

Another good thing about Naseem is that his bowling hand is hidden behind is back and is very quick, so the batsmen won't have a very good sight of the ball, a bit like Wasim. Whereas someone like Starc shows the ball and it is easier to see which way it will swing and pick up the length.

All the best to the young guy , doesnt matter what his age is but he is very young. Realistically we shouldnt expect him to blow the australians away , he may bowl a few exciting deliveries but IMO he will go for a lot of runs an pundits here will start calling him brainless soon. Let the guy have some space and not expect much from him at the moment.

have no clue why his age is a factor even... 16-17-18-19... matters 0 ...

he is a class act .... SSA and him should play but with Imran Khan's bowling performance, would team management b strong wnough to push abbas out? doubt it

knowing misbah, he wont play naseem shah....

i wont mind playing 4 seamers with iffti chacha as our main spinner.. he is probably better than yasir in Aus anywats

Its funny when posters were passing judgements after watching him ball few overs in national T20 cup that he is ordinary just like many said about Shaheen. Irrespective of how the tour goes for him, if he remains fit he has a bright future in Pakistani colours.

As I said before he is the most highly rated young pacer post 2010 and considering Shaheen has already broken few records before he is even 20 so its a big thing to say for Naseem Shah. This is not only because of his pace but control and ability to do something with the ball from good length.

He looked to be in much better shape strength wise than he was 1 year ago or so and that will hopefully help him with his back at this tender age. As Amir, Cummins, Archer etc mostly had issues around this age with their backs as their bodies were developing but Naseem is looking fit.

Also people can mark this post, his pace will increase (Rather I would say come back) in few months i.e he remains fit and we are talking about 150s here. He is coming after a back injury and it will take him some time to be fully confident about his body and slight modifications he did with his action.

Yeah, I remember that. Many of the PP "experts" wrote him off and called him useless due to one bad performance in the National t20, and that was his first ever t20. Not only did they right him off for white ball cricket, but also test cricket. Really shows how dumb some posters can be.

Great debate Going on over his age 🙄🙄🙄

Rather than talking about his actual bowling.
I saw his spell, bowled good lines at a good pace. Tough I don't think he was bowling at 145kph. More early 140's I will say. The fact that he hit Khawaja twice in the same over was great to see especially that khawaja is normally a very good player of the short ball.

Naseem isn't just all about the pace. He is accurate, swings the ball and seams it. If you took away the pace then he would still be a good bowler. Miles ahead of Hasnain, Musa and Haris Rauf. Him and Shaheen can form a really good bowling partnership.

Deleted plenty of rubbish - thread is not about his age - stop derailing - if you dont have anything useful to add, find another thread.

Imagine Marcus Harris going home tonight and getting asked how he got out and he replies "I got bounced out by a 16 year old". A desi Dad would probably throw a bat at him.

Imagine Khawaja going home and getting asked why hs arms bruised and saying "I got bullied by a 16 year old fast bowler at the game."

First time I've seen him bowl beyond grainy YouTube videos.

I was impressed more by his accuracy than his pace, he has very good control over line and length for someone so young.

twitter is full of praise for him. Seems like he already has a fan following even amongst non Pakistanis. Hopefully Misbah will play him for the first test.

His height seems ok I saw him next to Babar and looked couple of inches taller I think he is 5-10 or 5-11 currently.
