So, as we saw the batsman hit the ball high up in the air and in the end it only went a few feet from where he was batting.

There seemed to be glances from Shadab Khan and Sarfaraz Ahmed towards each other whilst the ball was in the air and at one point it looked like they were going to leave the catch to each other.

However, to his credit Shadab took ownership of the situation and managed to take a very good catch in the end whilst the wicket-keeper looked on.

What was rather mystifying though was the reaction after the catch - what seemed like a disagreement of sorts between the 2 players. Both seemed rather animated and I'm not sure how much the tv cameras showed afterwards, but discussions went on long after the incident.

Kumar Sangakkara on commentary had the following to say "Sarfaraz Ahmed had no interest in going for that catch, yet Shadab Khan was being told off by Sarfaraz for taking a catch that should have been taken by the wicket-keeper"

Before Sarafraz used to be very vocal and make call that it's his catch. Yesterday he didn't look too keen to call for that catch, maybe he is also relishing the whitewash of Pakistan by the England C side . It's ridiculous that he wasn't enthusiastic about taking that catch with gloves on.

Sarfaraz has tantrums we're all aware of that. It was one of those moments for him. Rizwan would have dived for the catch no question.

An embarrassing moment in a long-line of embarrassing moments for Sarfraz.

and taken it as opposed to Kamran Akmal who would have called for it and NOT taken it.

Good acting by Shadab after the catch. Loved his expressions and he did it one go with no cuts. Impressive.

I keep saying, he is in the wrong profession. He may not have any talent on the cricket field but he is a complete natural when it comes to acting.

Really poor from Sarfraz. As both Sangakarra and the other commentator pointed out it was the keepers catch. He chickened out and Shadab had to clean up his mess.

Old habits die hard.

Shadab took a difficult catch that was the keeper's and he still had the gall to mouth off at Shadab.

That was the wicket-keepers catch any day of the week.

He should have taken control of the situation as the man with the gloves.

Sarfaraz's terrible attitude continues. Didn't he have an issue with Shaheen as well, in the match?

Shadab was pointing to Sarfraz to come forward for the catch, and when he saw Sarfraz was not really interested Shadab took it upon himself to catch, and was justifiably surprised. Despite brilliant action by Shadab and then getting told off too by Sarfraz, Mamoon cannot hide his hatred for him and goes onto criticisize Shadab rather than Sarfraz. If I was in place of Shadab I would not have been so polite in the field.

Sarfaraz is probably bitter because the only time he comes on the pitch is when Rizwan needs to use the toilet.

He serves no other purpose in the team, and he knows his time is almost up.

Pakistan should play Azam Khan in T20s as a WK if Riz is still injured. Sarfraz should be miles away from the set up.

That was wicket keepers catch and that is why he is shocked. Sarfraz with the gloves on showed no interest in catching that , looked like a man who lost his captaincy, his place in the team and now he wants the team
To lose too.

But ur hate for Shadab is high above the ceiling. U cannot criticise him for taking a good catch, nothing to say with the catch taken finding another way to taunt him lol.

In other threads here in pp, some fans want this old grandpa Sarfraz to become captain again lol because they face a whitewash against Eng C team.

Mamoon hates the fact that Shadab is the best fielder in our history and one of the best fielders in the world. A point he can’t disprove.

So his only comeback is to call fielding ‘acting’. Whenever shadab dives around/ saves runs / does brilliant runouts etc, it’s called acting.

It was really poor from Sarfaraz who is the most experienced player of the squad and ex captain as well. He should have called for it and should have taken it with the luxury of gloves. Unless Shadab called for it which he most probably didnt as per his reaction, it was surely a keeper’s catch who should have said mine.

Sorry guys I am confused. When is this thread from and why is sarfraz padded up when he didn’t play

Even as an Indian fan who "obviously" likes your posts, this is below the belt.

An excellentttt catch by Shadab, especially with the looming wicket keeper, and with 2 minds to aytempt the difficult catch with the risk of dropping it and be admonished by Sarfi or leave it to Sarfi who will drop and then admonish him... So Shadab quickly made up his mind to go for it, as Sarfi is sure to say something or the other...

Sarfraz knows his aukat now - rizwan’s on field sub for toilet breaks. Terrible personality. You could see that no one gave two hoots about his motor mouth and he had to walk away himself.

Keeper's catch no doubt, but it's almost hilarious how Sarfraz still triggers people even after not being involved in the set up for the past couple of years.

I guess it has to do with the fact that some were deluded enough to think that it was because of Sarfraz that the team seemed 'nervous' and under pressure. Nope, that was always because of the players themselves. Although skilled, most of them function on extrinsic motivation, which is not ideal but the reality. We need better player management and team morale.

Rizwan got hit by a throw on thigh and Sarfaraz came in as his sub to keep.

Thanks for clearing that up. Sarfy really don’t do himself any favours. Bringing his PSL behaviour into this situation, seems like a real bully these days even towards a vice captain lol , it’s to his credit that it’s in our culture to not be rude back to him on the field otherwise no other international teams would stand for this kind of behaviour from a has been.

Sarfraz lost my respect when he started lashing at players instead of concentrating on the game.He admonishes players when playing for QG in PSL.Getting angry does not win games. You need a proper strategy. He is ok as a player but I wouldn’t rate him a top class batter or wicket keeper.

It was the keeper's catch all day.....sarfaraz should have called for and gone for the catch.

Do you have any words for sarfraz
The man with gloves
Clearly non interested

He has lost his mind and interest. He needs to be kicked out of franchise and intl cricket to regain his sanity

Media (few toxic journalists) hyped talent less Sarfaraz is a negative force in the squad. He is a dead weight, occupying space for a youngster.

It does not mean Shadab is any better. Both need to be removed from squad.

This really disturbs me. Compare Sarfraz's reaction to when Kedar Jhadav hit the ball high up in the CT match to his reaction here. This was clearly a keepers take and he was not interested. On top of that, he had the audacity to have a go at Shadab?

Sarfraz's head is clearly not in the right place. After seeing this incident, I would go as far as saying that he probably was hoping for a Pakistan loss. The only reason I can think of for him to have a go at Shadab was only for galleries to show that he was willing to go for the catch bat Shadab swooped in last minute - only a cover up for his own action.

That was always a wicketkeepers catch, not meant for anyone else.
Poor work ethic by Sarfaraz and same goes for Shadab as far as team ethic is concerned.

Wonder what Sarfaraz was saying before shadab looked at him?

Of course he is not interested.

In a matter of 3 years, he went from being the king of Pakistan cricket to someone with no respect and no status and even young players like Shaheen and Shadab are now picking on him.

The only reason he is still playing cricket is because of money. All the passion for the passion is extinguished. He is mentally retired but he has no other source of income until he can become a coach.

Needs to retire from International cricket than continue to be a glorified drinks carrier. He can play T20 leagues and still make money.

Unfortunately for him, he has very limited earning potential in T20 leagues as well. If QG release him, I doubt if any other PSL franchise will invest in him at this point other than perhaps his home team KK taking pity on him.

Besides PSL, he won’t get any big offers other small leagues like Lanka PL which aren’t very lucrative to begin with.

As a result, he has no choice but to stick around for the central contract money, match day earnings & allowances etc. until he is dropped for good.

You would feel sorry for him but the reality is that it all his undoing. He has no one but himself to blame.

Had he maintained his performance he would still be captain irrespective of the state of the team.

After CT, he lost all focus on his individual performance. He would even bat below tail-enders at times which was extremely embarrassing.

Should have led from the front and batted at number 4 consistently.

and taken it as opposed to Kamran Akmal who would have called for it and NOT taken it.

Who the keeper is/was makes no difference.

The point is it was the keepers catch 100% and the reaction afterwards was very bizarre to say the least. Firstly you don't go for the catch, then you scold the guy who has taken a very good catch and saved you from embarrassment.
