At the warm up game in at the SCG there was one chant that was repeated more than any other. .....go nawaz go. What place does that have in a cricket match?

I also heard a chant which I found offensive. .....Pakistan ka matlab kya hain and then saying the Kalma. All Pakistanis are not MUSLIM therefore the chant was trying to say only muslims can be Pakistanis made me very angry. Thankfully it was not repeated!

Let's try to be real original like our neighbours and come up with something like swami army, which may or may not have drawn inspiration from Barmy Army :ibutt

:)))

but i agree with the OP! such stupid chants have no place in cricket. Just enjoy the match and support your team. Why bring in religious or political rhetoric?

Best ones:

"Tara ree raa roo roo raa... Hooohaaa hooohaaaa" (sounds like a war chant)

"Girti hoi dewaar ko.. aek dhaka aur do" (after opposition wicket falls)

Bhai we are looking for cricket chants not some cheap star plus drama dialogue-baazi.

Religious chants are the worst.

PTI idiots will be chanting Go Nawaz Go as usual.

Anyone who spouts this rubbish in a cricket match should be kicked out of the stadium.

If you're a match-goer then you would know that these ones are some of the popular ones out there, especially the latter. Sometimes, someone in the crowd can start a chant and it catches on such as the "Aalu" one for Inzi and "Sala ji" for Balaji.

I remember going to a Sialkot vs Lahore match a couple of years ago, and Rana Naved was fielding on the boundary. I said to my friend sitting next to me "Why the hell does this guy not get a haircut?" Soon after, my mate started chanting "Rana! Baal kata lay!"
Soon, pretty much 10000 people were chanting this, and it must've had an effect on him as Razzaq smacked him around for some 20 odd runs in the next over he bowled. :))

IN India, the most popular chant is "haare ga bhai haare ga Pakistan harare ga" also some others but i can't mention it as mods wont allow it:najam

Why would people in 2015 ask out aloud about the meaning of Pakistan - a country formed 60+ years ago, and that too at the cricket?

What is the 'Kalma'?

been following cricket since 92 probably when you were in your diapers.

You came across as a tad ignorant as if you're a match-goer, and you probably have been to plenty of matches, you would know that historically these two are the most popular ones out there. Apologies for any offense caused.

I've only ever been to 1 match :)) that was just recently when India played Pak in England. The stand I was in was full of Pak fans and none other than Kohli was fielding on the boundary infornt of us...... The chnat was "Kohli ke peechay kya hai, kholi ke peechay" :))

Have to admit the guy was a good sport. :14:

This is a side issue but anyone else find it wrong when fans bring babies into the ground and then have them dangling in the air after a 4 or 6 is hit, or right in the cameras face.
Half the time they are asleep!! and the parent will still dangle them in the air!!

If you go through the history of partition, "Pakistan ka matlab kya La ilaha Illallah" along with "Muslim hai toh league mein aa", were the very slogans the country was built upon.

The country was built for the Muslims of the subcontinent with the vision that the non Muslims choosing to live here would be respected and everyone will live together in peace and harmony. There is nothing wrong with it and i don't find anything to be apologetic about in this slogan.

I was at the recent nz series in Dubai and didn't chant that and I'm a pti supporter so why call me a idiot I have read your posts in past and quite frankly u are a Pratt

Politics should be avoided in such events I saw more flags of MQM than Pakistan in 92 WC final

I hate those people with a passion. They are at the stadium to watch the game and support their team. Anyone caught chanting should be sent home.

Hopefully flags of any political nature will be confiscated at the gate.

Ah..Salma T is back. Soon to be followed by her multi Imran A. I wondered where both of you vanished.

:)) sounds like you were sitting next to me bro :inzi

Kohli was indeed a great sport on that occasion.

As far as chants go - you can't beat the classics:

Jeetay ga bai jeetay ga - Pakistan Jeetayga!

Singing Dil Dil Pakistan

The chorus from Hai Koi Hum Jaisa

It maybe historical but in Pakistan 2015 where people are killed due to being a different sect let alone a different religion so yes I stick to my original opinion it is offensive for all non muslim paskistsnis.

Who is asking you to take part in these chants. You can go watch your matches in complete silence. We will make these and many other chants with all our passion and fervor.

Haters gonna hate

Those chants are popular across Pakistan at all levels in multiple sports :)

Defending champions India stamped their authority over arch-rivals Pakistan with all-around performance in the first semi-final of the ongoing U-19 ICC World Cup 2020 contested at the Senwes Park, Potchefstroom on Tuesday. Picking up from where they left in the penultimate clash of the South Africa spectacle, Indian bowlers were right on the money as they managed to script a low-scoring semi-final clash against former champions and their bitter-rivals. India, who entered the competition as defending champions kept things airtight for the formidable batting order of the Green Army at the Senwes Park.

Barring the batting gallantry of Pakistan skipper Rohail Nazir, the fans of the Green Army had perhaps nothing to cheer as the former champions failed to put up a challenging total on board. However, the fans of the Pakistani U-19 team had a field day as they constantly supported the Nazir-led side from the stands.

The fans of the Green Army also became the talk of the town after a South African fan was seen chanting 'Kashmir banega Pakistan' in a viral video. The video has taken the world of Twitter by a storm as social media users were quick to shed light on the incident that unfolded in the Senwes Park stands.
