[VIDEO] Ramiz Raja’s commentary, post-match presentations, and analysis

Always interesting when the oppostion commentators ask Rambo about the Pakistani new players and he has no clue what to say.

Ramiz saying this game ending in a draw with 17 overs left, bit too early to say that with 100% certainty although it is extremely likely - what an awful commie

Rambo desperate for Australia to win there.

Big cheerleader for the Aussies today.

Expect the slower ball shouts Rambo:-

Shinwari subsequently bowls a delivery that was 86mph.

Ramiz: Thoughts on your next series where you face India?

Finch: Actually, it's against South Africa.

Ramiz: Kya aap form mei hote hain toh runs karte rehte hain? Babar: Isikoi form kehte hain

While talking to Babar

Ramiz: Kya aap form mei hote hain toh runs karte rehte hain?

Babar: Runs karte rehne ko hi form kehte hain Ramiz Bhai.:ba:broad:yk2:genius:ashwin:wy

Babar schooling him on what is called form

While talking to Sarfraz:

Ramiz: Yeh matches toh practice matches ki tarah theen, achi practice hui hai New Zealand series ke pehle

Sarfraz: Are Rameez Bhai, yeh practice nahi, yeh toh actual matches theen. :srt:yk:sarf:ishant:ssmith:dw

Kindly add this to the OP

While talking to Finch:

Ramiz: Next you are playing India

Finch: No, Ramiz, actually we're playing against South Africa:broad:sanga:rp:mv

How can we make our voices heard so Ramiz Raja stops commentating?

I can't stand this guy, but apart from that, he never provides insight or analysis. He has been saying the same stuff for 20 years now. He knows a few adjectives "stupendous, magnificent, smooth operator" which he uses constantly over and over again.

I'd rather listen to a commentator that makes grammatical mistakes than listen to Ramiz. Wasim and Waqar sound much better to me.

I often just mute when Ramiz is on but it's not fun because I want the sound.

No man should get away with being so lazy at their job.

He provides excitement when commentating for ODI and T20 games. The likes of Bazid and Waqar put me to sleep.

Ramiz is still Pak's best commentator.

If you think Waqar is better then you must really hate Ramiz. I'd listen to Pommie Mbangwa over Waqar.

He is the voice of Pakistan Cricket. Already a legendary well recognized Pakistani Commentator then player for us

Great OP - Couldn't agree more.

I'm sorry but having a voice in the comm. box doesn't cut it if what comes out of it is pure cringe and unprofessional, alsoo his delivery and insight into cricket he is appalling. There are posters on here who I could envisage doing a far better job which says it all really, perhaps it's time for PCB and/or broadcasters to change their recruitment approach :P

How he can get away with his lack of knowledge on domestic cricket and thus upcoming players due to his lack of research is really beyond me.

I don't rate Waqar because his English isn't great and favours ultra defensive batting, like during NZ's chase in the last game the run rate needed was over 10 with 5 overs to spare, his biggest concern for them was losing another wicket - which illustrates why he's a failed coach. So he's better than Ramiz since he isn't as awful, which isn't really saying much.

Bazid is well versed on Pakistan cricket and is the best we got for purists like myself, however his monotone dull voice is more of prescribed sedative for those who want entertainment.

Pakistan doesn't have any decent commentators - Aamir Sohail and Wasim Akram are also sub standard, so we're stuck with Ramiz until 2051 World Cup.

He always says "for no wicket" rather than "for no loss".

"NZ fielded like a breeze in the first game."

Does anyone know what a breeze fields like?

Aussies drink pickle juice for cramps, when the co commie pressed on why rambos reply "because they are always in a pickle".. he was very proud of that one aswell didn't stop laughing for the next 2 minutes.

How does spouting this nonsense make any sense to him God knows what he thinks when he comes out with this rubbish

Hahaha, how could you not love such a commentator :D

"And that's the record for Babar Azam."

Just one problem - it was Hafeez batting.

"Babar doesn't hit the ball in the air, he sort of hits it along the ground"

Classic form today Rambo.

Great dissappointment in his voice when Williamson was caught on the boundary by Babar Azam.

ATG commentator from Pakistan.

I'm really glad we don't have borefests monotonous people like Waqar and Bazid here.

Oh wait. I think Bazid's there. Less borefest than Waqar tho.

Pretty embarrassing if Ramiz is an ATG

TAAAAAKEEENN!!!!!!

I'd take him any day over Bazid Khan and Waqar Younis, they really do ruin watching the game. Imagine both of them commentating together....

According to Ramiz, Chapman's stumping down the leg side was "wonderfully telegraphed" :kakmal

Off topic but Danny Morrison has been uncharacteristically understated in this series. Can't say I miss his histrionics but he has been sounding almost as dull as Bazid.

bro, in terms of voice, Rameez isn't bad. Infact, he's among the top comentators if we talk about voice alone.

interms of content that he says, he is the worst.

Problem is, he says the darnest things, and he doesn't follow Pakistan cricket. Often foreign commies will ask about our new players or how our players are performing in domestic and Rameez has no clue.

All it takes is to go through some scorecards, doing some homework before the series, but rameez doesn't do that.

A player who has not been performing in domestic, he ends up saying that ohh he's doing quite good.

Also in games where Pakistan plays in UAE, he ends up bashing the way the batsmen would be playing. Often he bashes our players for playing slow and has many time concluded on day 1 or 2 that the game will end at draw, and he always gets proven wrong when a result comes out on day 4 or 5.

He even bashes captains for not having slips for a batsmen who is on 60+ score. He even advocates slips for a batsmen who is on 100 above score aswell

Also, when Misbah and Younis ended their career on a high, a professional ceremony was required after the match. Yet this guy asked dumb questions, snubbed Younis Khan and the hero of the match Yasir shah, he asked childish questions.

Another reason why most of us dislike him is because Pakistani fans base their opinion on whats being commentated. Most fans are seasonal here and dont follow the game like us. They dont know the tactics the a certain captain will be employing, thus when on a day 1 wicket Rameez will be saying that the batsmen are playing slow and will lead the game to a draw, the viewers will repeat what is being said.

If rameez critisizes a batsmen unfairly in an odi game aswell, the same voice will be repeated amongest viewers.

Bazid Khan and co donot have the voice but they have the knowledge.

Cant blame him. His team got thrashed. I loved cat and mouse between him and waqar in last game and today when Waqar was counting the NZ team out and suddenly things got a bit interesting.

At least he's only commentating. India made their Rameez head coach :ravi

Ramiz Raja’s non professional attitude in Presentation ceremony

It is becoming more of a norm and permanent habbit for Ramiz Raja trying and acting like a kool dude in mid 20’s during Presentation ceremonies.
Analyze his statements last night with Sarfaraz.

1) Pehlay Australia and ab Nzl ko dho dala.
This really is a street language.

2) To Hafeez he said ap ko Custom dena ho ga for the heavy bike he won as man of the series.

3) Other day he asked him what are you eating.

Professional commentators like Mike Atherton Mark Taylor even Shastri are professional at presentation ceremonies.

Ramiz to Babar regarding Sodhi: Aap pyaar mohabbat say uss ko sehla rahe thay aur wo (Hafeez) jootiyan marte hain.

By telegraphed he may have meant secret communication between bowler and wicket-keeping.

This guy always ends up being the opposition's biggest cheerleader.

There was an lbw shout against Sarfaraz. It was obviously high. But Ramiz says "somehow that isn't given." New Zealand have a review but they don't use it. He is even more surprised. Watches a replay and goes quiet.

terrible commentator. I prefer watching mute than listening to this guy. Bazid may be boring but at least he has technical knowledge. Ramiz got nothing.

I remember the days pre the t20 revolution when ramiz was a half decent commie that use to talk less and make more sense

For some reason since the last few years he has felt he needs to rabbit on for the sake of it and has become a bit of a joker clowning about ala danny morrison

If he just calmed down a little and stopped all the nonsense by speaking sensibly and intelligently he would still be a half decent option to listen to

He seems to be more focused nowadays on trying to be a comedian and the class idiot, rather than actually talking cricket.

I'd hope that someone who has played as much cricket as he has would have something decent to say, but these days it seems that he has nothing of interest to offer.

Perhaps financial incentives are forcing him to have a larger than life personality. I agree there are better ways to do it. But I respect his hustle even if i have no taste for it.

As you age, as your personal cirmunstances change (family, love life etc), as your friends change, all these things contribute to changes in one’s personality. Rameez is going through the same phase I think.

He always had a funny side to him but it comes out way too much these days.

This guy is genuinely one of the worst. Pakistan comfortably winning this ODI and he is saying Pakistan's batting has been "found out." Is he commentating on the first ODI?

Ramiz seems very down and unhappy that Pakistan are about to win.

Still finding a way to criticise them.

i dont know what he said.
but the way pakistan finishes off was really disappointing they end up giving newzealand the momentum

My beef against him is that his sarcastic comments are reserved for Pakistani players only. Many times, Pakistani MASKHARA style of comments are extremely annoying while trying to be funny.

I despise him as a commentator but he is right to an extent. The batting got found out against quality pace bowling especially against the shorter deliveries.

Ramiz as unprofessional as he is should have rephrased it to something along the lines of "a richly deserved win for Pakistan but I'm sure there will be some concerns in the dugout with how they played pace bowling towards the latter of their chase particularly against the short ball".

Well Ramiz's stupidity was clear for all to see when, at the end of the Aus tour, he asked Aaron Finch about whether he was looking forward to playing India next.

A confused Finch had to reply well no not really, because we are playing South Africa next.

The other day when Hafeez hit a six, he congratulated Baber for becoming the fastest to 1000 t20 runs and talked about how he "did in style".

The contrast between Ramiz and Bazid is clear for all to see. Bazid is a world class analyst. Ramiz is captain obvious and unbearably annoying.

ATG commentator from Pak.

Makes watching cricket interesting and entertaining. No idea why people criticize him. He's not ESPN statsguru!

Waqar should be sacked - borefest.

Bazid was a borefest as well but has improved a lot lately. Now don't mind him too much. Still lots of work to do.

Need to balance statsguru with sense of humor.

Yeah Waqar sucks.

Rameez is the GOAT :don

Bazid needs to talk faster. His strike rate is under 40 atm.

Everybody complains at his every mistake but if there was a better Pakistani commentator, the networks would have picked him by now.

He may not be a Beanud or Blofield but he is certainly no Bazid either!

Viewers tune in to be entertained and not educated about the intricacies of cricket regimen.

Talk about yourself Most viewers want commies to enhance the coverage with good analysis and insight into the preceedings

They don’t want to listen to buffoons getting names mixed up and general verbal clowing

Cricket nerds, i.e. PPers do not like him because he is not well-versed with Pakistan’s domestic cricket and makes frequent statistical errors.

However, the majority of the cricket viewers do not pick up these small details and do not care about domestic cricket. They do not get geeky while watching the game.

They prefer entertaining, exciting commentary with fluent delivery, and that is what Rameez provides, and that is why he is the most acclaimed Pakistani commentator and networks are willing to pay him to top money.

Before joining PP, I had no idea that so many people dislike his commentary. He is highly regarded and loved among the general public of Pakistan.

I must have been listening to the wrong person all these years.

Lets be honest, being a commentator can be very boring at times. Specially test matches where nothing is happening.
I would snooze if I have to watch game after game and keep talking about it... I'm not surprised commentators go kookoo after a certain period of time.
Its a mediocre job that pays the bills.

Atherton, Nasser Hussain work for expensive sky sports studios with their own infrastructure, and so many advnaced facilities in 3-D. They get paid well to bring insight analysis - but still they don't make as much as the analysts do in football. So for all the broadcast advances they bring to the neutral, they're still not the biggest sports in the country.

My point is we are comparing Ramiz - who is just about 'represents' his country, and is there because he has been representing Pakistan for 20 years, and thats about it to Hussain and Atherton, he hasn't been given the responsibilities Sky has given these two (They analyze weaknesses strengths of all players so that they do well in Ashes, plan ahead for abour 3-4 years) He left the professional 'commentary' line years ago - seems he just does it for fun, without a worry of any accountability whatsoever.

Lol very bizarre how some can find someone as incompetent as ramiz exciting and entertaining

There is absolutely nothing interesting or entertaining about his commentary and post match work. Technically poor, knows nothing about domestic players, has very little ability to be witty or funny.

Really is a very poor commentator, but he has the right connections and that's why he keeps getting gigs, although Sky Sports dropped him recently.

i have been watching the games on mute because of Ramiz too.

I am glad i found this thread.

Rameez is also one of the few commentators from Pakistan who gets TV contracts from the biggest Sports Channels in India like Star Sports and Sony. He has also commentated in many seasons of IPL.

so i guess 90% of the people in this thread who think he is terrible are not "general public".

Haha. Remember that one. I think he said that about one of Yuvraj's shots. I was like what the ...?

Think so.But cant deny he was only commentator who believed Pakistan would win CT before the finals and still remember his excitement...
When Hafeez hit a six against Bhuveneshvar ,he was like six...six...great result completely disregarding indian commies

Most viewers are casual domestic fans who tune in to escape from their real lives.

This is a game, a form of entertainment, a charade akin to the Roman Gladiators used to keep the masses preoccupied.

A tea-worker in Hyderabad will not care if the commentator is able to explain why Fakhar Zaman struggles with rising balls on a leg-stump line. Why his bat swing and head keep falling over are of no immense interest to him. He wants “shor” and only the diehard fans like you and I want Atherton or Nasser level commentators.
