sarmad bhatti was the vice captain of U-19 2010, he was bowling allrounder and now turned into batting allrounder, he is in the top run getter list in quaid e azam trophy.

He was strike bowler in U-19 2010 and was quick too and would bat at 7 or 8. Today he has become a top order players and doesnt bowl alot.

If I am not wrong, he is a left-handed bat, very good fielder & a nice right arm out swing bowler.

Why did he opt to play for islamabad at the first place. He is from khairpur sind, he should have played for hyderabad or karachi or any other deparment.

His name is sarmad anwar bhatti and he plays for islamabad leopards in the middle order Not the one opens for rawapandi.

Was an impressve bowler, bowling 82-83 mph at 17 yrs of age, but for some reason stopped bowling

I was very hopeful about him and Hammad

He easily was pick of our bowlers in 2010 U19 WC

Sarmad has given up on bowling, may be he had some injury??

Hammad azam , sarmad bhatti, zohaib ahmed, lal kumar, aamer yamin are all good fast bowling allroundes.

Promising. Why he dont bowl now? Pakistan badly needs a pace bowling all rounder

Epitome of a trundler, was easily the most useless bowler in that under 19 side as far as I remember.

Sarmad scored 651 runs in quaid e azam trophy gold this season and he averages close to 40 in both fc and list A

"I am quite hopeful Sarmad Bhatti will soon be the part of the national squad" : Zaheer Abbas

Pakistan has produced a number of quality cricketers over the years, but sheer negligence of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has wasted those best productions, therefore, it finds too tough to find best replacements for outgoing players.

Sarmad Bhatti is one such example, despite being a genuine all-rounder at the of only 23, he is looking for opportunities to make his way to national squad. Since his debut in the 2005 and 2006 season in regional U-15 tournament for Punjab Club Islamabad, he is still playing for the same club, which shows his commitment and loyalties. In the very first season, Sarmad scored 100 runs in three matches with 51 best and also took three wickets and his best individual score was unbeaten 262 and was declared the best all-rounder in the very first tournament, he too part.

Talking to The Nation, Sarmad said: “In the U-19 Three-Day Regional Tournament, I managed to score 375 runs and also took 40 wickets and 9-40 was my best bowling. After back-to-back consistent performances, I was selected in national U-19 team for the tour of Zimbabwe in 2010 where I was declared the best all-rounder of the series taking 10 wickets in six matches and also scored 170 runs. Then I was selected for tour of Sri Lanka where I also performed well and then was selected for Pakistan U-19 world cup-bound squad in 2010 in New Zealand where I was vice captain. Though we lost the final against Australia, but I took one wicket against India conceding 20 runs in five overs and I got two crucial wickets against West Indies in the semifinals and claimed 3-38 against Australia in the final.

“Then I was also selected for the U-19 national team for Asian Games in 2011 but I was not given even a single game. If my parents were not at my back through thick and thin, especially my father, I was so frustrated that I might have stopped playing cricket.

Sangakkara is my favourite since my childhood just because of his superb technique and I want to follow his footsteps. I gave ample time to club cricket and thankful to my coach Abdul Raf Mirza, who I consider as one of the best coaches in the country. He always bucks me up and due to his believe in me I have been performing on regular basis,” he added.

Sarmad said: “In 2010, NBP offered me a job which I accepted. For the last three years, I just played two matches, but I was given breakthrough in one-dayers and my performance was good. I played 10 matches and I scored runs at an average of 45 plus. I am best suited at number 5, but I was never given my preferred number. After getting frustrated, I quit NBP and decided to play Quaid-e-Azam Trophy for Islamabad Region in 2013-14 season. In nine matches, I scored runs at an average of 40 plus scoring 600 runs including one ton against Karachi Whites with the highest score 147 not out. In Quaid Trophy season 2014-2015, I scored runs at an average of 39 plus and scored 675 runs with 88 as highest in 11 matches.”

“I was picked for Pentangular Cup, and played two matches and my performance was quite good which helped me sign a contract with Birmingham-based club to play county cricket. I would get at least 22 matches in league over there. I am confident to perform well and force my way into the national squad. I had played 22 first class matches in total, but my batting order kept on changing, as I bated at No 6, 7 or even at 8. If sent at No 5 for batting, I can prove my worth and can resolve Pakistan team middle order batting woes and can also fill the void created by all-rounder Shahid Afridi,” Sarmad concluded.

Sarmad is quite lucky as he was highly praised by Asian Bradman Zaheer Abbas who termed him future of Pakistan cricket. Talking to this scribe, Zaheer said: “I watched this guy playing in Karachi and impressed me a lot. He is very confident, committed and hard working and I am quite hopeful he will soon be the part of the national squad.”

In all, Sarmad Bahtti had played 22 four-day matches scored over 1300 runs at an average of 40 runs. In all, he played 22 one-dayers and scored 690 runs at an average of 36.5 runs, despite not getting the number where he loves to bat.

To be honest , his bowling stats arent impressive. And much more experienced players with better batting stats are waiting for a chance to playUntitled.jpg

He upsets me by complaining about his batting position. Shades of Akmal.

Thank god this guy is no longer batting coach. He did nothing, just used to sit in the dugout watching the game enjoying free holidays and a big pay packet.

Knows nothing of the modern game (like most of our senior/retired players).

But he must have something if Zaheer Abbas is praising him. I cant wait to see him bat, I remember him from one of the U19 WC and he looked a tidy medium pacer around 80mph.

not impressive, but if zaheer is saying than may be something. he can be good all rounder, medium pacer all rounder

The injustice in pakistan is visible
See in one match of pentangular cup he was sent at 8down while he is a top 5 batsman. He scored elegant 40odd runs in that match with no slogging.

he got bowling in 4 game of fedral umited it was his 2nd game

He was once an allrounder while he was playing under 19 cricket.
He is not much tall which is needed for a fast bowler.
Now he is a batsman who can bowl part time may be.
But he is a good technically correct left hand batsman. Needs to be among the top 3 batsman in coming fc season if he wants to play for pakistan A or Pakistan. He can make it with hardwork

he should work on his batting rather than bowling.

he has lost his pace , if he gets his pace back then

Got 52 vs PQA. Can be a viable candidate for the number 7 spot, and has some good innings lower down the order. Can also bowl medium pace, which gives him an edge over the likes of Maqsood and Umar Akmal.

i dont know what has happened to 2010 u-19 boys they went to final of that tourney but non of them has excelled since then.

Missed a golden chance today.

Don't know whose mistake it was in him getting runout.

He may not get chance for years now.

260 vs Peshawar.... yeah almost 1200 runs were scored in the game for the loss of just 18 wickets but you still gotta make the runs.

Where did Zaheer Abass see him batting ?

Zaheer wasn't around in Pentangular if my memory serves me right.

he may or may not be any good, but the record so far is mediocre. zaheer abbas like all other similar former greats has a worthless opinion on today's cricket. i still dont forget how unprofessional and pathetic he was as manager (i think!) during the 2010 tour to england, just when a strong manager was crucial, he was absent and flaccid.

Federal were too strong in the End :)

They had a guy with highest of 260 in Fc batting at number 8 today who finally won it for Federal.

Great thrilling final. Well done to both teams.

I wrote in the match thread that this Federal team can give the National team a run for its money. A 5 match series can go 3-2 either way.

Yep there was no way we were going to lose as long as Sarmad was there.

But......

Did you see ? Sarmad was abit Sad. He doesn't get decent exposure in domestic Cricket especially in televised matches.

He was vice Captain of Pak U-19 team.

Hope he gains confidence from this and gets a decent contract with a department. Is he with ZTBL or PTV ? Islamabad doesn't treat him well.

I think he is with National Bank but there he doesnt make the playing 11 often.
Yes Islamabad has treated him pathetically over the years. He comes to bat at no.8 or 9 and Zohaib doesnt get the ball too. This is disappointing when you see players like Zohaib captaining Isloo side, batting at 7 and bowling full quotas of overs.

You have pointed quite well at the real issue.

Nothing against Shakeel Sheikh's Bhaanja Zohaib but I have seen him play like 35 televised List A and T20 matches in tournaments like Sadaf Hussain is absent. This is very very disheartening.

In Pentangular Cup 2-3 years ago Sarmad was sent in to bat at number 8. He was probably representing weak Balochistan team in that tournamemt and he scored 30 odd classical runs. Only got one match. Than he is no way an allrounder and Isb captain intentionally has given him ball in 2-3 matches so that he get spanked and than gets dropped and he has been dropped because of bowling. I have played Cricket so I know this dirty politics of pulling legs of player with ability. Similarly Faisal treated Saud in list A and Fc for one whole season. Than there was a fight of Faisal with Tauseef and since Tauseef rates Saud so he than made sure as a Coach next season that Saud is treated better. Remember Saud was sent in at number 8 in a T20 match while chasing 200 odd and he made 29 of 16. Lastly Agha Salman was also treated like that by 3 Lahore Fc Captains while in his debut FC season he averaged 50 with the Bat. Next 2-3 years he was transfered to number 8 and 9 while he started from number 4.

There is no accountability and nepotism along with dirty politics of seniors continues.

Sindh lost Sharjeel & Shahzaib both and in last one year Ahsan has performed quite well so they should have picked him as opener but He did not have support of Asad Shafiq the only guy who has supported him despite being a permanent national player. They block the way of players with ability because of insecurity.

Superb points. And it hurts :(
Feel for those payers.

This guy is so good on the eye.

I have been observing this for last 4 years that He plays two matches and than gets dropped for next 4 matches needlessly while crap keeps on playing F.C. and List A Cricket uninterrupted.

He is a number 4 batsman and in majority of televised matches he bats at number 6,7,8 whereas by no means he is a power hitter.

I wonder if He is from MQM hence treated like 2nd class citizen of state.

He batted at number 8, scored 30 odd classy runs in Pentangular Cup. Still remember that knock.

b.lesner

he scored 250 odd last year in day and night match and picked up couple of wickets as well

Played In the Birmingham league last year(2017) in div 1 bowled and batted well scored around 650 runs and picked up 32 wickets bowling medium pace was roughly 83-85 mph swung and seamed the ball around a lot was praised by quite a few Warwickshire 1XI players.
Very Good Batsmen aswell don’t know why he isn’t given a consisitent run in domestic cricket

What happened to Karamat Ali .,. That leggie who could turn it miles both ways ..

The standard of Birmingham league is not bad, think it's the same league where Umar Amin was trash for Walsall CC.

Came across him in the Sunday League and both his batting and bowling were pretty average. That 650 runs in Birmingham league were in 20 odd games, which is also pretty poor.

He didn’t play on a Sunday well he said he didn’t want to on Sunday he preferred to hang around with some of his friends in Birmingham.

He was bowling 15/16 overs a day so an average of 35 while batting at no5/6 isn’t bad

If you are a FC player then this is a poor average. Its the average of non Professional paid player in the Birmingham league. Its not as if he was forced to bat 5 or 6, he could have batted anywhere as the pro.

Sarmad Bhatti scored 115 of 116 balls today, making his case for selection in Pakistan A.

Video of that innings here. Sangakarra-esque cut shot at 12 seconds:

He also scored 58 and 29* in the FC game a few days earlier, so good start from him.

Why is it that most of these guys are left handers, may it be bowlers or batsmen

I saw him in a Sunday Parks league game and he struggled against 70mph bowlers. One of the least impressive Pros i have seen, not far from being the worst pro i have seen.

His good form continues: 59 (69) vs KRL in round two of the QeA Cup.

High quality batsman who is severely mistreated at domestic cricket level.

Given his immense ability and skillset he should be batting at number 4 for any of Top 3 Departmental teams but Alas.

My favourite left hand batsman besides Saud Shakeel in Pak domestic cricket.

InziTheLegend or Yousaf just need to see footage of his batting.

It’s high time to promote this guy on social media so that He gets justice.

Some high quality shots through the offside against pacers including cut shot and cover drive.

Stats aren’t everything when most Sarmad had to bat at number 6 & 7 for regional teams. He struck a fine double century last season.

We must promote his talent by uploading his batting videos and tag sports journalists, PSL franchises & selectors.

This is another great oppurtunity for Sarmad Bhatti to impress in a televised match.

Best wishes and prayers. A stylish, technically correct, sensible innings of 75+ will do him great and he will be in reckoning again.

Best wishes and prayers.

Haris, Saud & Sarmad are the best Left hand middle order batsman we have in Pakistan atm.
