Not that the 2 brothers are not problematic kids compounded by plenty of attitude issues, but purely from performance point of view either one or both deserve to be part of Pakistan world cup squad.
Akmal mafia has been brought back to life by one good innings from the brothers.
I wonder if Mickey is keeping him out just because of bad relations.
No, Umar Akmal is out of the team because 1) he has been inconsistent in domestic over the past 18 months, and 2) because he has a poor attitude towards cricket
Mickey Arthur is not a selector, he has no authority to keep anyone out. If Umar Akmal was performing over the last few years in domestic, he would have been selected for Pakistan
Exactly.. he couldn’t keep up with Sarfraz lolStill out of shape. I hope he gets fit.
Mickey has full authority to ask for and reject players.
Inzi has given it to him. And the captain.
And he's been doing very well in domestics.
Exactly.. he couldn’t keep up with Sarfraz lol
He has a List A average of just 35 after nearly 200 games.
His talent is undeniable but his brain means he will remain mediocre.
there was still too many wild leg side hoicks, he was always good at t20s but i dont think hes improved his play for longer formats
He's actually pretty good in tests. That's why we should take a step at a time.
1. Let him perform on a consistent basis in the PSL
2. If he passes 1 then let him show us against Aus that he is ODI material.
If he passes these tests then he could be a possibility.
I had a gut feel he will rise.
Cmon Ummy bhai.
We are all rooting for you.

Dunno why he was dropped
I am afraid they might influence their cousin Babar Azam the wrong way when back.

Definitely miles ahead of Asif Ali.
asif ali wasn't even in the same league as umar akmal, i don't know why the two are even being compared.
asif ali is a hack, akmal is a proper batsman
I am afraid they might influence their cousin Babar Azam the wrong way when back.
I wont ask him back in the team but any day over asif ali in any format.People have short memories. Umar akmal is a tempting prospect but you have to consider what baggage he brings to the table along with his "talent".
He is far the best talent we had in the last ten years,it is frustrating how he has not utilised his skills. I will have him in the squad - he is miles ahead of the impotent backup keeper we have
so does the captain Sblol, I wouoldnt have him anywhere near a professional setup. He looks fat, unfit and his attitude still stinks. Fielding looks poor too. His presence would be like a virus. No thanks
needs 3 more 50's minimum.

not sure if serious or trolling
umar akmal is a proper batsman, he just lacked brain cells
Umar Akmal always had more time than other Pakistan batsmen.how do we separate the lack of brain cells from the definition of a proper batsman?
That’s different than the statement the poster is making. He says he is a proper batsman lacking brain cells.Umar Akmal always had more time than other Pakistan batsmen.
But he was undone by his immaturity and bad choices.
But the thing is, it’s not uncommon in sport for immature players to mature late.
Think if any number of talented Mavericks who knuckled down and started to perform. Andre Agassi springs to mind. So does Shane Warne - and he was still failing drug tests at Umar Akmal’s age.
In fact, Misbah-ul-Haq scored the vast majority of his runs when he was far older than Umar Akmal, as did Mike Hussey.
Your concern is right but I think it will depend on Babar how he will handle the relationship with his cousin. Babar is no more a teenager and Bcz of having a similar family background he will have more understanding of Umar's habit than many others.
But still, at current Umar is the best player ag fast in the country. His first six in the first match is the evidence of my comment.
lol that's very stubborn attitude form you. A player has been consistently performing well and you can't take him in the team because your heart is not satisfied.
Just being realistic. He has had plenty of chances. Time for us to simply give other people a chance. I just dont rate him. He is isnt as talented as everyone makes out, and will simply implode on the international stage. His fitness is appalling and before anybody on here compares him to sarfraz, sarfi is a trophy winning captain who fights till the end even when he's struggling. Unlike Akmal who goes walkabouts at the first sign of pressure. He doesnt deserve to play for Pakistan in front of Imam ul haq, Fakhar, Babar or even Shan Masood.
Alot of our young posters see chukka choaka and think, "yeah he'll come in and do a Rohit and suddenly we'll be world beaters again." Wake up. Rohit works hard, so does Kohli, and all the Indians. Their work ethic would put a loser like Akmal to shame.
Imam is a good young batsman who in his short time has shown immense talent and bravery. Akmal just gives up like the lurkay in the street who think they can hit big sixes and strut around but fail you when a dada comes to bowl at them!!
He's a washed up loser and I hope he doesnt wear that shirt again.
Would you rather have an substandard player of pace like Malik in the XI rather than him?
Even if Malik makes the XI but say Hafeez is injured for the WC, who would choose in his place instead?
All your comments about Umar Akmal not being as "talent as everyone makes out" and "just gives up like the lurkay in the street" couldn't be any further from the truth.
oh come on. I still remember his waft at Steyn in the UAE. Ina test match when he had a great chance to make some runs on a reasonably docile pitch.
Coming to your question, if I had a choice between three players, Malik,Hafeez and Akmal..and Hafeez was injured..I would choose...Malik. Yes I would choose him over Akmal. Thats how little I think of him..But in the current aquad you can miss both hafeez and malik and still plug the gap with someone else without having to resort to nihari chaval wala..
how do we separate the lack of brain cells from the definition of a proper batsman?
Sorry man but I have to say anyone who would rather choose Malik over Akmal has lost it.
Lmao he's performing right in front of Mickey
Wonder how enraged Mickey will feel that he has to be Umar,.after their public laraai.
Doing well so far. The only concern is that he still struggles against quality spin. Sandeep really troubled him yesterday. Nevertheless he has been the best Pak batsman so far and deserves a recall.
