Exactly!!! Both Saqlain and Babar don't deserve to be head coach and captain. This Saqlain is even worse than Misbah. At least Misbah maintained fitness and tried his best which was not good enough but Saqlain is all talk that people want to hear.

Agree with this at the end of the day.
We’ll criticize him after the game and after this tournament if he is responsible, but until then, let’s back him and whoever takes the field.
As for Nawaz. He’s shown what he’s capable of before, and will grow from this.
Ben Stokes produced the worst over in a t20 final to lose England the game Vs WI, and then went on to playing an important role in the final overs of England lifting the ODI WC. He had a taste of pressure by then.

If we lost due to any single person, it is the captain himself that's the culprit. Hasn't learnt from history that bowling a spinner in the last over is a no go. Could've used the spinners earlier in the power play and could've given Iftikhar an over. The type of game he was having, it could've been a good move. Also what was up with having Shaheen bowl around the wicket in his last over?

Hafeez, Salman Butt, Moin Khan, Aqib Javed and Co all lashed out at the lack of standards and accountability where they have never seen 4-5 players in the team being given a blind long rope for so long for 20-25 games in a row with totally inconsistent to non existent performances and how during their time if you didn't perform in 2-3 games, you would get benched for someone else on the bench.
Cricket Imo is a game of confidence and form. You have to take struggling players out of their misery and drop them for their own good and replace them with a fresh unscared player

Nawaz in the circumstances did ok, big ask getting a spinner to bowl the last one. Had the ball not rebounded off the stumps he might have had a few more runs to play with off the final delivery. Ideally he should have been bowled out

The captain had only 3 pacers and he used them well. Had he brought Nawaz after his 20 run over, you would have been the first person saying that look how defensive our captain is, should have brought in the pace bowling etc etc.

This is a cringe video that should not be made public. Whatever happens in the dressing room should stay in the dressing room. The media department of the PCB wants to create a brand out of Babar therefore we see these gimmicks. There's no need for it. Brands are made by performances and not by speeches.

That's a massacre, no matter what excuse or spin anyone can come up with, it's quite pathetic to give away an average of 16 runs per over in a row.
Then we have all these fans sating how great a bowling attack we have and how we can defend any score. If that's good, I'd hate to see us having a bad day.

It makes me laugh when fans such as yourself find ways to pin the complete responsibility for the defeat on our team. I guess it's impossible for you to maybe say that India played really well and came back from a remarkably tough situation to win the game.
It would be one thing if Pakistan missed run-outs or dropped catches. But that did not happen. Rather than being emotional and unnecessarily critical, try thinking rationally. Babar rotated the bowlers really well and with the intent of taking wickets. There was no saving Haris or Shaheen or Naseem's overs for the end. It was all about getting Kohli's wicket. It's not Babar's fault that Kohli played exceptionally well and didn't give those guys an inch.
Oh, and you know who called those shots instinctive? Kohli: the guy who actually played those shots. But I guess you know much more about those shots sitting on your sofa watching them on a TV.

Hope Shaheen and Rauf remember this choke. They have done it twice i.e. Australia SF in 2021 and against India at the MCG. Performances against the big boys is what counts on the big stage, that is what people remember.
Amir has had a mediocre career but people still remember him for the 2009 T-20 Final and the 2017 ODI Champions Trophy final.

I don't know what some posters are going on about here. Nawaz ALMOST defended the target. If not for his wides and Marias Erasmus's little gift to India, Pak would have won it. In such a situation, Nawaz was a good option because as an offie, he has more control over the ball and can fire it in to the block hole. That's probably why he would have gotten it.
Nobody questions Dhoni for giving Joginder the over because Misbah bottled it. Imagine if those wides weren't wided or at least if Erasmus wasn't on Santa Clause mode for India.

Fully agree.
It absolutely sucks that we lost. But hindsight, as ever, is 20-20, and it’s easy to point figures when we lose.
If things went our way even slightly in the last three overs then Pak win that game. It’s fine margins rather than weak captaincy or bottling it.
We as a fan base constantly throw our toys out the pram everytime we lose, but this was a very close game than we lost because of an incredible innings.
What I have seen under Babar is, we’ve progressed under Babar from the team that used to capitulate against India (and others) to one that is pushing everybody all the way.
Now more than ever we need to back the boys rather than second guess them. Even if that means having to deal with our own disappointment. Because if we’re as unsupportive as a fan base, then we do not deserve to win the World Cup.

Yeah but whoever told/instructed Nawaz to bowl almost seam-up with keeper going back is partially culpable here. If it was Nawaz' decision then he really had a cluttered mind and made a terrible choice but if it was captain or some other senior player's instruction then they need to take the blame here.
And yes Rauf made terrible choices as well on those two balls. Even before those two slower ones, his first couple of deliveries in that over were slower ones as well and Kohli slapped one of them straight to cover point. I had remarked even at that time that his full pace length bowling had proven impossible to get away so why was he bowling them slow!
Even if both of them knew that he was going to bowl it there, still the lift off the surface was too much to handle. 3rd and 4th deliveries were normal pace and Hardik could barely get his bat on one of them! That's why I can not, for the love of me, understand why did he choose to bowl slow deliveries to Kohli when clearly his 90mph pace and bounce off good length was proving impossible to get away, even for a fully set Kohli. It was absolutely clear that the pitch was too quick and true for slow balls for work. On almost every track, bar that MCG/Perth, I could totally understand him choosing the slower one as that is his go-to delivery. But he was absolutely too quick for anyone on that pitch. Kohli was able to hit that delivery straight because he got time to hit it. That shot would have either gone straight up or hit his glove/gone over the keeper's head if it was on pace delivery at the same length. What's worse, he bowled slower one again and Kohl was good enough to help that one over fine leg.
Like you said, even a fast yorker would have been fine as well. A 90mph full delivery, with batter showing the stumps is still a better option than a slower one. It would have been unpredictable as well as I don't remember him bowling even one fuller delivery to Kohli throughout his spell.
I feel the shot is getting more hype than it deserves; it was NOT a full-pace delivery, was a slower one that gave him the time to hit it with a straight bat. Still, an incredible shot but they way it is being described, it seems he smashed a 90mph length delivery.
Coming to the topic, I think Haris would be distraught as well. He is a sort of character who is too emotional and hence it is very important that the management/captain keeps his spirits high. He needs to be perked up and told that he still is the most vital bowler for the team and capable of taking the team to the knock-out stages of the tournament with some devastating spell on these lively pitches!

Exactly. You'll have a very good professional unit now. Yes, their PR campaigns are deliberate, probably a bit of tableeghi touch from Saqlain too. But who cares ? Pakistan is more competitive and doesn't have to rely on Afridi. I have been a Pakistani fan since a kid, despite not being Pakistani, and I know the DNA of the Pakistani team back then. Now, with Nawaz, Shadab, Babar, Rizwan and even Chacha, they are slowly forming a strong unit ... Which is near perfect and only needs one or two vital cogs, such as an Umar Akmal pre 2015 and a solid fast bowling all rounder.
Rauf lost the game for Pakistan. The 2 sixes with 28 needed off 8 was the killer. Game was over otherwise. Picking fast bowler in last over would have been stupid-would , game would have lasted 4 balls instead of going to last ball.
Our new age team should stop all this nicety nicety stuff.

No. India conceded 44 runs in 3 overs to Pakistan tailenders. Pakistan conceded 48 runs in 3 overs mainly to GOAT. There is a difference. India did far worse than Pakistan
I agree with this analysis. I am not sure why he didnt just bowl fast yorkers outside off and put a fielder at point and third man to block the boundary.
Sometimes the simplest things are needed.
With 8 balls to go and 28 to defend all you needed was to close out the game and not concede a boundary
Either that or bowl a REALLY short ball so its hard to hook for six

In case of Nawaz, there is no question of doubting his talent, what is mindboggling is that he chose to change his entire bowling action for that last over with keeper standing back. Shows terrible lack of confidence he has his normal bowling skills. 16 runs ideally would have been defended 9 out of 10 times with his normal bowling action.

You are expected to lead the batting when chasing a paltry 130 against Zimbabwe. No two ways about it.
