A story of shattered dreams, broken promises, serious injuries, having the opportunity to bowl to Joe Root, Alastair Cook and more.

Yasir Jan speaks to Saj about what went wrong in his career, the highs and lows, what he has been up to recently, how he hasn't given up on cricket, and how he hopes that his future will be brighter.

I played for the same club as he did in Rawalpindi. He was from Gul club before he got famous from the LQ trials.

The guy was nothing special to be very honest. Yes he bowled abit of pace but he was over rated too much by the LQ management team. In club matches he would get spanked, and there were many other bowlers that were better than this guy. Look up Ibrar Zaman, selected in u19 for Pakistan team, never got to play a game and now has quit cricket.

The issue with this guy was his behavior. He was very ill mannered and tried to pick up useless fights. He never had the brain to become a cricketer. I had 2-3 fights with the guy during the nets and club matches aswell. Just didnt had the brain to survive in this industry. He was also quite over age aswell.

He belonged from a very poor background, so the fact that he still got to travel to England and play club games there was a big achievement for him. Not really a forgotten cricketer or anything, atleast he got something out of it with very limited talent.

I remember the hype LQ created when they selected him. Would've loved to see the right arm, left arm bowling strategy in an actual game. His demand could possibly go up if the impact player substitution concept takes off.

I'm happy he admitted that LQ talked up his pace.

He is doing well tbh. Speaks pretty good English and seems to be living a good life in England.

The saddest part of all this is how LQ left him to his own devices as soon as he was injured.

Instead of backing up the contract offer they had stated with some help regarding his injury treatment, they told him to fend for himself, which is pretty disappointing.

He doesn't live in England, he's in Islamabad.

As for his pace, the media hyped that up mainly.

probably something happened behind the scenes, he maybe had a falling out cause he was really ill mannered as far i know him.

LQ never owed him anything. He should be thankful he got that hype from them. LQ wasn't require to help him unless they were getting something back.

He got the initial recognition due to LQ and it was up to him to use that recognition for himself. He was an adult not a child

If they didn't owe him anything then they shouldn't have spoken about a long contract for him.

Something must have happened behind the scenes, because this guy had alot of behavior issues.

We asked Lahore Qalandars for a reaction to this interview, their response was:

"Yasir Jan left us since he was not able to achieve the required standards that we expected of him but we hope all is well with him and wish him all the best"

His argument is that he got injured and they didn't support him, whilst Qalandars say he simply wasn't good enough. Interesting difference of opinion.

If he was any good, he would have made a mark without depending on anyone. The reality was that he was ultimately very ordinary

Being an ambidextrous bowler is a novelty skill to have. However it has not been of much use at highest level. A bowler has to inform the umpire that he is changing his bowling arm. Hence the batsman will know and at top level it shouldn't bother the batsmen much. The novelty skill has already brought him much attention, this is clearly not a case of wasted talent.

Many people had said that his 'skills' were rather gimmicky but regardless he should have been dealt better and really, PCB should have identified him as a talent to develop instead of leaving it to LQ to worry about it.

Another talent of Pakistan has fallen victim to mismanagement.

mayray bhai, PCB did not waste him.

He was just a gimmick, was not good enough. LQ decided to use to him to market their trials. He got to play club cricket in UK.

Now just cause he was not good enough, what is PCB suppose to do? There are many other players that were hard done, and this guy wasnt.

Where is he now?

There was another guy Mohammad Muddasir whose height was 7 ft 4 inches whom Lahore Qalandars introduced as well. What happened to him?
This guy is more interested in making tiktocks and being on social media.

He was never really a cricketer, played the sport a little now more focussed on tiktock and is probably earning good amount. Now adays he is in UAE doing tiktok shoots for Zam Zam mobile
