[VIDEO] Why Usman Khan would be better off playing for the UAE instead of Pakistan

Was it the right decision for Usman Khan to give up his UAE contract and play for Pakistan?

He scored runs, yes, he did but he threw away his wicket when he should have been a bit careful. His technique is flawed and he is gonna look ugly whenever he is playing some shots.

1 50 in 13-14 games should not be hyped too much. I hope he can be consistent because 1 50 after 10+ games is not acceptable.

He was quite lucky to score even this 50, it was not an impressive knock by any means. He just hasn't been able to reproduce his PSL form in international cricket. The step up in class looks too far. He needs a performance in the final T20 otherwise it's time to write this experiment off.

He only scored runs against Maxwell, Stoinis and Zampa. As soon as pace came back. He looked a deer in front of headlights.

Doesn't matter how ugly u score runs
Look at sehwag for example

Usman khan should not just be in our t20 team but also in our odi team
U only get one bouncer an over so who cares if he can't play the short ball, it's called pyjama cricket for a reason

On a technical level, he looks even uglier than some of the tailenders in this side. Even when he is scoring runs you are never convinced of this guy. Some of the shots he plays are quite reminiscent of those I see kids playing when they are playing cricket on my street.

There is no comparison between Sehwag's technique and this hack. Technically, even Fawad Alam looks like Allan Border infront of this guy. And the worst part is that he isn't even scoring any runs. Should have stayed in UAE. That was his ceiling.

Sometimes people need to look beyond the stats. Yes, Usman may have good numbers in domestic cricket, but technically speaking, he is awful. His technique isn’t suited for international cricket. I don’t care how many runs he scores in Pakistan’s pathetic domestic cricket, Usman Khan should never play for Pakistan. He should go back to playing for UAE because that is his level.

I believe UAE penalized him. Don't think he can play for UAE anytime soon.

Trust me when he bats it always makes me feel like a tailender is at the crease. He can’t play shots with a straight bat or use proper footwork dont know how he got selected in the PSL as an overseas player.

If he plays for UAE at some point by getting his ban rescinded, you all would be saying how this one got away as he scores 50s for UAE at a rapid pace.

Now he is playing for Pakistan, you think he is average.

Specifically, what about his technique does not make it well suited to international cricket.

He needs to be given a string of games like saim as opener. Or at least at the position 3. He shouldn’t be batting at four or any random position we decide on the day.

Don’t think he’s going to make it though sadly he’s too flawed. Yet I think he deserves the maximum and best of chances considering his domestic prowess.

He’s our only hope really. Rest are not currently good enough. Even fakhar he’s had quite a lot of chances as both opener and at 3 and is now 34. His problem with being a shaky starter is highlighted more in t20s than Odis. Even if he succeeds at opener it’ll be short lived.

I think we have to go all in on Usman. We already did it on Saim and he isn’t ready. So Usman is all that is left. Otherwise you might as well just open with babar and Rizwan.

He can only score those 50s against Minnows/ Nobody is gonna miss him.

His technique is worst of the lot. Every time he hits the ball, it looks like he gonna fall. Tulla player who cannot even do tullay Baazi.

even Asif Ali is a better player than him.

Who would you play then? If he's the top scorer in domestic cricket I would hate to think what the rest must be like.

Basically THIS.

We have to stick with these type of batters.

I don’t understand the outrage and wrist slitting by posters here. What do they want in the team - more accumulators like Farhan, Haseebullah, RIZWAN and Babar?!

Who else if not for hacks who try to go after the ball?

It’s exactly this anti-hack mentality why we are left so far behind other good teams.

T20 is all about giving chances to players whose only job is to go after the ball and hit boundaries.

Nothing else matters, and for this a player has to be given a decent run to find out under what conditions their output can be maximized.

Pakistan domestic cricket is rubbish. Everyone knows that.

But surely they are batsman in Pakistan domestics that have a decent batting technique. I would much rather a batsman with a good batting technique with an average of 40 is selected over a tailender batsman that has an average of 50.

That is why selectors have to look beyond stats when selecting players for international teams. They should select players that have a better chance of succeeding at international level.

I don’t entirely agree. Openers especially and perhaps even no.3 need to have decent averages. In internationals, openers have higher averages and lower SRs than middle order. It’s just our openers are slow compared to other countries openers. Guys averaging 15 with high SRs won’t work as openers. It puts pressure of a batting collapse and early wickets. Countries are not playing cricketers with poor averages as openers generally. Middle order yes, but it’s rare as an opener.

Usman might be a hack in terms of technique. But he’s far more consistent with his runs than the other hacks. He’s not the same.

We have had very few cricketers currently or even in the past who have managed to achieve this in the top order in PSL. Usman, Fakhar and to a lesser extent Saim, are the only ones who come to mind. I don’t count Sharjeel either, while he was doing this before he fixed, his record since fixing in PSL has been poor, not to mention his poor fitness and older age.

Saim has been given a long run and isn’t ready. Fakhar is also getting older at 34, underperformed when he was both opener and at no.3, and really you can’t excuse that sort of record with that many matches in top order, even fakhar himself knows he hasn’t done justice there.

Usman is all that is left. Otherwise, it’s hard to consider many alternatives to Rizwan and Babar who at least have decent averages and get a good platform. The rest do not have and are not capable of neither in terms of great averages and sr even in PSL let alone internationals.

Usman is almost the perfect top order player in PSL (and champions cup) so far. He excels at both. Still under 30 so could have a good 5 years left, there is enough time to give him chances to eventually succeed, there’s still some time. That is why we have to take the risk on giving him maximum chance of performing in internationals. We need someone with a high average who can score quick as opener. So that’s why I’d play Usman as opener.

What is the obsession with technique
Azhar ali started as a leg spinning number 11 and turned out to be our best find in the last decade
Also the likes of imran nazir and yasir hammed with perfect technique turned out to be mentally weak

I'd rather have a mentally strong Usman Khan then any of the shafiques, tayabs and hurrairas we have who have perfect technique but would run a mile if they ever met a johnson on a bouncy pitch

Specifically, what “looks” like a tailender? What aspect of his batting.
Steve Smith also “looks” like a no11.
People think unorthodox techniques equate to a bad player. That's the problem.

90% of these guys haven't even held a cricket bat in their life.

Their many players in cricket who have had shoddy or weird techniques but we're successful. Steve smith Is defo the biggest one.

Heck Fakhar Zaman is pakistan's best whiteball batsmen and his technique isn't orthodox. He always occupies a baseball like stance and is looking to pull or slog sweep 24/7, Yet he remains as pakistan's best odi batter of this era.

Also why are these guys complaining about usman khan's technique? Have they seen rizwan's technique 🤣🤣🤣.

Besides no point in seeking players like babar, Abdullah, Ahmed shehzad aka players who are too focused on looking good on camera and playing kabsoorat shots rather then actually scoring and winning games

In 1st T20I today, joint highest innings of the match. 2 Stumpings and part of a run out.

Is he a proper keeper or seems unnatural?
I did not see any keeping errors. Looked sharp. The 2nd stumping and the run out were brilliant on his part.
He was dropped on his first ball that he faced but then he settled down relatively well.

I am glad he was promoted to #3.

Good for Pakistan we need depth and flexibility in the side.

LOL why did PCB beg him to play for Pakistan. This clown should be kicked out of Pakistan.

What an ugly batsman and he has numbers of a tailender after playing more than 15 matches.

Avg of 16 with breathtaking strike rate of 125.Surely this should be it for this loser

He is the worst batsman(he shouldn't be called a batsman,he is a gulli danda player)I have ever seen.

He is just abysmal. Just kick him out. It boils my blood to see him play international cricket.
He should stick to PSL and make centuries there.

He has been given way too many chances.
17 t20is are way too many for this mediocrity.

He failed so badly in t20Wc yet he was shown faith. He should have been dumped then but he is still in the team. He might have some connection. The more I watch him play the more I hate him.

Avg. Of 16 and strike rate of 124. What an aggressive player

Sr goes down if you don't perform well.

His sr isn't reflective of his caliber. However atm his avg is 200% reflective of his performance so far unfortunately.

Lol what calibre are you talking about? He is a nothing batsman( he is not even a batsman) with zero performance. He is an embarrassment to batsmanship.

Club level batsmen are better than this gulli danda player.
it's embarrassing to see players like him and Farhan playing for an international team.

His shots look like a tail-ender's.

Never looks in control when he hits. No technique. Good against spin (MAYBE) but so far he is yet to dominate them as well.

Should be dropped

Usman, Tayyab, Irfan - this middle order will never give you more than 40-50 runs combined. In any match. Under any situation. The effects of taking Fakhar out of the team not only affected power hitting but also affected the stability of the middle order. And there's no replacement for that.

He destroyed his career. What a complete fool and PCB is even a bigger fool to select him based on PSL performances. Have they ever looked at his technique??? He is a hack, won't last at all

At this point, I would prefer Haider Ali over Tayyab and Usman. He is a much better batsman and a powerful hitter. They seemed completely clueless against quality bowling, clearly waiting for easy half-volleys to hit, and struggled throughout the innings. Please bring Fakhar Zaman and Haider Ali.

PCB Selector's logic:
Usman Khan was better than Imam to be selected in the squad of 15 for the CT 2025....
But then Imam is better than Usman Khan to be selected in the playing XI vs India.
👏 👏 👏

WELL SAID....PCB works on this very same phenomenon... Pathetic

Aaqib Javed, while addressing the press conference:
"Usman Khan has performed exceptionally well in List A cricket. His T20 performances have shown glimpses of match-winning ability. We believe he has the potential to deliver in international cricket."

Usman had been selected in a squad of 15 without any chance in the playing XI..... proves Aaqib Javed horribly wrong.
For example ... he was selected for CT 2025 squad, did not play a single match. Yet, dropped from the ODI side to NZ.

Genius...!

Multan Sultans’ batter Usman Khan on Thursday, shared that he plans to score a double century in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, scheduled to commence on Friday, he said:

“I want to score a double century in this year’s PSL and will perform well for the team,”

"We have worked hard for PSL 10. Our effort will be to play normal cricket and perform well for the team. In the last three seasons, we lost the final, but this time the goal is to win it,"

“Finding the right combination early and sticking with it will be vital for success,”

“Many told me I made a mistake, but I sacrificed for my dream. By Allah’s grace, I got the chance to represent Pakistan,”

I don't understand why Pakistani players dig holes for themselves by making these types of statements. Reminds me of Asif Ali's "I hit 100-150 sixes in the nets" statement.

Like bro, you average >15 with the bat for Pak and have gone past 50 once in 19 matches. Where exactly is this confidence coming from and what exactly are you smoking before you make a statement like this?

Maybe he will turn it around. Yuvraj Singh has 2 hatricks in IPL after all :P

LOL... Usman doing what he should not have been doing..(SAYING STUFF THAT MAKES NO SENSE)...

LISTEN, boy. you need to focus on cricket and try to make your place in the team permanent instead of doing shenanigans....

"I Want to score a double century in this year's PSL( 2025 )" - Usman Khan

Two game done but hasn't cross 40 runs forget about 200 :kp

Sadly, we still cannot find 1 solid wicket keeper batter apart from these hacks. Usman, Haris, Azam LOL. the lot is pathetic

Haris shows his abilities sometimes but most of the times he is a failure.

Good approach one should always remain positive
