A lot of western women realize that being pressured to show their body and be objectified is the real oppression, reducing their entire personality to just a sexualized object. Look at the workplace, men are more covered with suits, full sleeve button downs and ties and women are sleeveless, skirts and dresses above or at knees. They even question when did this even start? In the 60s? When most women’s rights in the workplace was reduced to just eye candy? Yet 100 or more years ago the too used to cover up and cover their heads.

When women begin to question these norms whether just through an ayat of the Quran or a Hadith then that social conditioning begins to fall off and the fitra of haya and ghaira (modesty) takes over.

Ofc there’s many other paths to Islam for many of them- this is just one. This is just one out of many many possible reasonings they cite themselves as to why after their entire upbringing in the west that many women entrance Islam and don the abaya and hijab with pride.
