Sad to see him play......
He should not be playing. Even if he becomes the highest scorer of this series. He has played 3 first class games only and is the most inexperienced player ever.
Fans will get happy and jump around this performance, but if he performs here he will eventually get selected for tougher series and when he will fail Pakistan would be losing matches.
Than the argument would be presented and fans would be asking questions that why do selectors selected inexperienced players.
Same happened with Naseem Shah and the same is gonna happen with this kid.
Not impress with his batting, he is way too nervours. He will get out sooner or later, Bangladesh already saved him by not taking a review.
Nobody cares how well you can stop the ball, you need to score runs
Noone was expecting a 50 ball hundred but he was doing tuk tuk without any intention of scoring runs and he was out earlier too (Bangladesh didnt take the review :Facepalm![]()
I know he is on debut. But an innings this slow on a wicket like this is criminal.
Not sure if this makes sense.if he fails Pak will be losing matches??Sad to see him play......

It doesn’t take much for our fans to get excited. Not long ago, they distributed mithai when Abid scored a century on debut against Sri Lanka and thought a new star was born, but then we saw how he fared against quality attacks.
Even Imran Butt would have looked good against this attack on this pitch. Let’s wait and see how he does against proper bowling before getting carried away.
Because after his first appearance he was travelling with Pakistan squads instead of playing first class matches.Looks compact and ok. But how come he has played so few first class matches?
Amazed at some of the comments on here. Clearly some major lack of understanding of test cricket.
The guy played exactly the kind of knock required in the circumstances and considering it was his DEBUT - even more credit to him.
Looked solid. Good technique and temperament. I don’t think he was nervous at all. You don’t play 57 overs being nervous. He was clearly following the obvious instructions from his captain to a debutant. ‘Don’t throw your wicket away. Don’t get out. Let Abid do the scoring’. This is test match cricket not a T10.
Some people are just impossible to please.[/QUOTE
Hit the nail on the head . He played one false shot all innings and that was going back the spinner when he should have been lbw. I dont think he was nervous either
Hi, I do not think you understand or know how to appreciate test cricket RedwoodOriginal
he is batting time...so pakistan can score 650 plus at the end of day 3.5 then bowl bangladesh out.
Slow and turning pitch*
I know he is on debut. But an innings this slow on a wicket like this is criminal.
Just hope he doesn't turn out to be like Asad Shafiq.
If he avarages 42 in test cricket then I will be happy
Are we short of time?

If we didn’t pick him and some other youngster would have flopped instead of him, then Abdullah Shafique would have been the right selection while the other player would have been the wrong selection.
This is what happens when fans cannot accept that we are just above minnow level and 99% of the players coming through our not international class.
And no, nothing will change when messiah Mohammad Wasim takes charge.
We could be, if we want to score 650.
For a test opener that will be world class if he can show decent performances against quality bowling.
If Abdullah scores and we win, then we have made huge strides. At this point in time your point is churlish
I could care less how many Abdullah makes as long as we score 650 with more than enough time to bowl them out. Cricket is not about individual performances. This is a road and there is no telling how long Bangladesh will hang around if the pitch does not deteriorate.
If he keeps striking at 30 (which is even lower than Boycott on his worst day) than I don't see us reaching 650.
He is well-set on a pancake of a pitch. There is no excuse to not put the foot on the accelerator now.
And if he's thinking I'm going to crawl my way to a century and then think about scoring quickly than that's selfish batting.
Its the individual performances that make up the team performance.
Not always. If you are not playing according to the situation of the match and the requirement of the team than all you are doing is padding up your average.
Not sure if this makes sense.if he fails Pak will be losing matches??
Name me a Pak Opener in last ten years or so who actually has WON matches for us. I think we have tried numerous openers all failed

you completely miss the point.
a batsmen who has plauyed 3 first class matches is not gonna do much. You can enjoy his performance agaisnt Bangladesh all you want, but he aint test ready
These same people celebrated Naseem Shahs hatrick in test aswell. The fans seem to forget that experience matters. Test experience matters alot.
Abdullah might be good, but he needs to be selected on merit. Needs to perform in domestic and have expeirnece under his belt to be playing out there.
These performances agaisnt Bangaldseh and West Indies will end up getting him a tour against a good side, and than when he will get exposed due to lack of experience, we will be losing the game and the fans who are today celebrating this performance will be lashing out on him,
Sad to see him play......

Seems you have changed your a little bit on him. From no other option but failure for him to should not getting too excited.
Pakistan has no talent, so I won’t be wrong to assume that he is the same. If he is different and proves to be different in the long run, good for Pakistan cricket and Pakistan cricket fans.
Besides, I didn't watch him play in this Test. I don’t care about this series between two poor sides when India vs New Zealand is happening at the same time. A series between two top sides is always worth watching.
Two completely different scenarios. Also add Shaheen in the list too. Babar too given his FC record before debut.
If anything the blame should be on Misbah and now Wasim for actually selecting these people before they are ready. Naseem is missing out on the whole FC season again while sitting on the bench against BD.
We all knew what we were getting with Naseem and to be fair to him apart from the NZ series, where he was carrying a small injury or recovering from (again on Misbah-Waqar for playing him through that), he was solid.
Abdullah will have done the same today, had he not been selected. Given the choice between him playing no cricket at all and playing test cricket, especially when the other options are Abid, Butt and Imam, I will gladly take him playing tests. He is the best upcoming batsman we have. If anyone has watched yesterday's innings, the difference between him and Abid couldnt have been clearer. This would have been his second FC season carrying drinks, and that would have been criminal.
Lack of experience is also not a argument with this Pakistan team. Abid, Imran and Imam will be exposed even more against better teams, infact they have been. Abdullah has better batting fundamentals so he has a much better chance of repeating good performances against the likes of Australia. He might fail but who else is going to do better?
I have no issues with him playing a season of FC before his test debut, and in general I would agree with you. Abdullah is at a point, where he will crush it in FC(2 centuries in 3 games is a good indicator). But he needs to be in Pakistan for that to happen, not on tours with the T20 teams of all things. And we can't keep on not playing him, using experience as an excuse, while denying him the chance to get the said 'experience' in the first place.
Experience is over-rated. If you are good enough, you should play. If you are not good enough, you should not play. We carried a lot of useless players in the squads in the name of experience who failed multiple times. Even in this test match, there was another debutant from Bangladesh with 50+ FC matches experience. Please remind me how much did he score in the first innings in his home ground?
I agree. Pakistan domestic cricket is not at that level any more that you insert a 3 FC match inexperienced player into test matches . I think it's a big gamble. Even a double ton against this bad attack doesn't prove that he is going to survive against quality attack or in abroad.
Pakistani selectors didn't have any kind of patience regarding a proven customer like Sami Aslam but they have immense faith on a 3 matches player. Surprise!
Sami aslam was himself to blame for his u healthy diet and than making a tantrum. Someone on his fb page jokingly asked did you eat karhai and he replied last week.
This is the attitude of the guy.....
Haider ali got a 50 on debut...... And yet we all know how he is standing in the team. A walking wicket.
He wasted too many balls when pitch was good for batting. Had he out early we could score another 50+ runs. I think even Sami Aslam had better ability than him.

Calm down bro its his debut thats why he was circumspect and remember he has only 3 first class games under his belt..this lad will be a superstar no doubt. He has better six hitting ability than babar azam

Sami Aslam was the best prospect for Pakistan . He was out and in without giving him a proper long run in the team. He should have been Pakistan's permanent opener for the next decade both in tests and ODI. Just check his record in FC, List A and under 19 level. Pakistan is the looser at the end of the day.
Diet is not a big factor unless u perfom
Lol at not giving him a proper long run, he played 13 test matches with 31 average...

If PCT can give 25 test matches to Shan Masood, and see the bench strength of quality openers in domestic cricket. Just give him a proper chance.
People have no patience mate. I have been saying since I saw his range of shots in the first innings that this kid can go miles.Today Abdullah is playing positively. His strike rate is better than Abid’s.People were criticising him for being slow in his first innings. This is his first match.People should show some patience.
