Incidentally turned 20 today. He represented the Pakistan Under-19s, and is now playing for Central Punjab in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2nd XIs.

He's the only one in the tournament to hit a double-hundred so far this season. 205* off 205 balls with 19 fours and 8 sixes against Northern, a bowling attack including Raza Hasan and Usama Mir. Hit 124 in the latest round as well.

Very limited footage available. But he has a nice bat swing, still head and watches the ball closely.

When saw him in U19 WC, he looked pretty easy to the eye with some classical shots to show however, didnt stay on the wicket for too long. In this season of QAE for Central's 2nd xi he has played couple of long innings with 205* and 124 and deserves a go in Central's first xi though the competition is pretty tough.

He played for the Under-19s but I don't think he played in a World Cup. He played in an U19 Asia Cup.

Looked a good bat when i saw him play for the u19s. Good that he's finally getting chances and performing . If i am not wrong he was selected in PSL for multan i believe. Dind't get a go though.

Thank you for confirming. Let's hope some of these youngsters are selected rather then players like irfan jnr keep getting selected in emerging category and most importantly played and given a chance at their preferred position.

The likes of Musa Khan, Sameen Gul, Ghulam Mudassar, Naseem Shah, Rizwan Hussain, Ibtisam Sheikh, Jaahid Ali, Ali Shafiq, Mohammad Imran and Haris Rauf have all been promoted from Emerging category. So we should see a few new faces in the Emerging picks this time around.

Great to hear we should definitely see some new faces. Is that emerging category list available?

Players like him, Ali Zaryab and Irfan Niazi need to move to another team next season, they can't progess much here with such strong central Punjab playing XI.

Another solution is to have a seperate team of Lahore and Karachi. 8 teams total

124 vs KP 2nd XI.

We need to invest in players like him.

He is someone who works on his fitness a lot. Always in the gym or he's practicing cricket. Did brilliantly as an u19 cricketer for Sialkot. Scored double hundreds too.
MMHS would love your thoughts on him? Please check the above video. Any areas you feel he can improve? Please let me know and I will communicate to him.

He is in the emerging category for this PSL. Hope a team picks him up.

Yes, looks promising indeed. If you know him, I need to know one information first before anything else - what exactly is his biological age.

Balance is pretty good in all the shots he's played. He's not overstretching or losing his footwork.

What I liked is he is good off the back-foot. Few pull shots which looked quality.

Was checking some stats, he averaged 80+ in the 2015 u19 tournament with a high score of 205*

In the 2016 u19 tournament he averaged 80 with a high score of 181

And in this season of Quaid E Azam, he only played 6 games. But scored 540+ runs averaging 68 at a strike rate of 70. Highest score of 205* the only double ton scored in the second division. And hes only 20!!!!

And if you see this guys fielding, its close to Shadab level. Works on his fitness a lot.

And btw, some of these shots played by Abdullah were against Arshad Iqbal who you rate MMHS

So, he's been performing like Zeeshan and Haider through all levels. Good to see players coming through that are technically sound and take pride in staying on the field.

Let's hope he doesn't get dropped for the final.

The final will be held after the SL series so the internationals will probably be back by then. :(

He seems to have an appetite for big runs, so hopefully he can convert this one into a big hundred to make a statement.

So Azhar and babar will play such s shame for the young man as they won't drop shehzad or mohammed saad.

I am telling you this guy is the next World class batsman from Pakistan. The hunger he has is something else.

Hopefully he goes on to make a really big ton here. Need him playing the final.

Annoyed he is out, but what a great knock.

First-class debut, scores 133 against a test attack in Rahat Ali and Zulfiqar Babar(highest wicket taker of tournament)

This guy is one for the future.

And Misbah is a big fan of him!!!!!!!!!!

How do you know misbah is a big fan of his? BTW good to see you back.

I have been told.

So happy for Abdullah. This guy is the hardest worker I have seen. Extremely hungry for runs. Always in the gym. He has a 6 pac!! He eats clean. And he follows Virat Kohli. Also understands the game very well. Has a sharp mind for a 20 year old.

Bold claim, but I see him becoming captain of Pakistan in the next 5 or so years.

We have FINALLY found the test opener we have been looking for.

But I still think he should be given maybe one/two more seasons in first-class.

I hope hope he gets selected in the PSL

Please no. We have had enough batsmen wasted carting out around T20's..he doesn't need PSL.

Abdullah is a proper batsman with a very solid technique and his basics are on point. He reads the game well, rotates strike well, with time he will improve his shot range -- he should only be playing first class cricket, loads and loads of first class cricket. Once Azhar Ali is phased out, I think he could and, well he really should be Pakistan Test number #3 for the next 7-8 years.

You love a batsman who looks like a proper batsman, isn't leg side hack.

Impressive scoring a century on FC debut.

FC teams need to give opportunities to younger talent that are doing well in 2nd XI because they have the ability.

Stylish, good balance, nice footwork.

Looks a decent batsman.

good swing of the bat and looks like he can hit the ball at his will when needed.

Still as stylish as I remembered him for U19 Asia cup few years ago. However, more than that I am happy to see him scoring 100 on FC debut and has scored few big runs in 2nd xi tournament as well.

hm...i think he reaches when playing the pacers. shuffles outside leg to middle or off stump. faster bowlers will look to pin him front of wicket on the move. These are issues can that can fixed

The cover drives? It most likely in a situation when the ball has gone flat and he can trust his hand-eye to play away from the body. Most great players do that to loose balls. Matter of situation.

Shuffling pre-delivery is fine but sometimes he's a bit late. Middle, leg or off, that depends on the batsman's strengths. Longer batsmen that can play both sides of the wicket usually take middle. Offside dominant leg and legside dominant offstump. Middle stump batsmen are most vulnerable to LBW while leg stump dominant are most likely to get beat through bat and pad. Offstump guard is the safest if you're confident in playing off your legs to away one mode of dismissal.

Those cover drives and that pull shot WOWWWWW!!!!

Future star on our hands.

Just wondering, how best should he progress? Will he learn anything playing domestic cricket?

I guess he needs maybe one more season. You don't want to chuck him into internationals now, but also you don't want him to play too much PAK domestic where you learn bad habits.

But great thing about him is conversion rate.

Has played 7 games now. Scored 3 hundreds. 1 double hundred. And 1 fifty.

Another good thing about Abdullah is he is a World class fielder, on the Shadab Khan level.

I hope a PSL team picks him up. And if so, they should allow him to bat as an opener. He is a genuine opener. Yet even in this game, Central Punjab made him bat at 3.

I’d love to see him and Babar opening for KK but knowing the history of the franchise, I don’t see that happening.

You really seem to be hyping him up. Way too early for that. He just made his FIRST-CLASS debut yesterday. He's no where near an international call up yet
