[VIDEOS] Has Haris Rauf proved himself to be a worthy member of the Pakistan side?

He bowled well enough during the middle overs last over was Sami esque who used to bowl full tosses and half volleys needs to work on this slower balls accurate yorkers on off stump should be the aim.

Time to move away from Harris Rauf??

HE is way way way too unpredictable.... almost lost the final for Lahore single handidly ...

should he be ignored for like of other bowlers?

my top pick would be

1) Shaheen Shah
2) Naseem Shah
3) Ihsaanullah (the guy can be thrown in with the big boys... he has everything ... shld be playing all bilatreal)
4) Wasim Jnr
5) Abbas Afridi

When the pressure is on I would be more comfortable seeing uncapped Zaman Khan being given the bowl than Rauf.

Rauf has been playing for years yet he is still getting belted around when he is tasked to close out the innings.

The world best players rarely get taken apart.

Once his pace drops so should he.

Was one of our best players at both the World Cup and the Asia Cup.

Once he gets into his bowling rhythm, he’ll get better.

Remains an integral part of Pak bowling attack in t20is. Needs to handle his nerves in high pressure games though.

You dont just dump 150 kph bowlers.

Rauf will need to be dropped for sure but he will need to be given a target to achieve in domestic before making a comeback.

What concerns about Rauf is his off field activities which is impacting his on field performance.. I don’t know him personally but he comes across as a clown in interviews.

He is reliant on quicker wicket as his only weapon is pace and sometimes he forgets about his slower ones. He is also not confident about his yorker like Shoaib akhtar was in his prime. So end up bowling to many back of length / to length bowls which can be targeted on slower wickets.

In short unless he mixes it up more he is likely to go for runs against good players who are not worried about pace on easy paced / slow paced wickets.

Islamabad Capital Territory Police, also known as Islamabad Police, have appointed Pakistan speedster, Haris Rauf, as their honorary Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

For this appointment, a ceremony was held by ICT in Islamabad, in which the pacer was formally dressed in police uniform and the honorary rank were giving by IG Islamabad Police, Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan.

A little too filled out for a fast-bowler, perhaps Haris?

The prospect of Shaheen, Ihsanullah and a firing Haris Rauf surely is the best t20 pace attack in the world.

It's a shame that Haris significantly drops off in ODI's otherwise Pakistan would have quite a white ball unit on their hands.

Haris speaking to the PCB:

"It was important to put up this performance because I was playing after a long time for Pakistan"

"On this pitch, I tried to bowl stump-to-stump. If you start well, like Shaheen and Zaman gave today, you gain a lot of confidence. Your role gets defined a lot more when you have such a good bowling attack."

"During our batting innings, Babar bhai came to me and said 'I want you to take 4 wickets today'"

Haris speaking to PCB:

"Back-to-back wins are good for the team and the confidence of boys is up. The ball was gripping today so I tried slower ones after reading the wicket. I don't focus much on milestones and keep my focus on matches and give my 100 percent effort. Wickets are not in my mind as I try to bowl dot balls which are more effective"

"I was trying to get a wicket when I came for the second spell and got the wicket of Young which broke their momentum. Personally, I enjoy Babar Azam's batting and after losing wickets in quick succession, then to get back the momentum and set up a good total and scoring a hundred on the last ball was great.

"We were all very excited about it and wanted him to score a hundred and hats off to him. I have played all my cricket under the captaincy of Babar Azam and the way he supports us on the field gives me a lot of confidence. He always consults for field settings, and I stay relaxed under his captaincy and enjoy it. We will try to win the series given the momentum we have at the moment"

People have been harsh on Rauf.He has done well considering he played no fc cricket. He was a tape ball cricketer who is lucky to be picked by LQ

Ten wickets in three T20Is has seen Haris Rauf catapult Shadab Khan to become the top-ranked Pakistan bowler in the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s T20I Bowler Rankings.

Rauf picked up back-to-back four-wicket hauls against New Zealand in the ongoing T20I series, winning the Player of the Match in the first game.

The Pakistan quick was just ahead of Shaheen Afridi last week and behind Shadab Khan, who was 12th in the T20I bowling rankings. Ten wickets spread across the first three T20Is has seen Rauf move up five places in the rankings to occupy the 11th spot.

ICC

Ramiz Raja on his YT Channel:

"There is a question mark hovering over Haris Rauf, and I think it's because he isn't as effective as a length bowler. He either bowls good yorkers or has a good change of pace, and in T20s, when batsmen take chances, he takes wickets easily. In ODIs, bowling is different, and I think he needs to increase his pace to be more effective"

"Overall, his pace has decreased, I don't know if he himself is bowling with less pace. Let's say there is a 10-over spell, then I can understand not exerting too much pace in 2-3 overs, but overall, I think his pace needs to be increased a bit more"

I'm not sure which cricket Ramis Raja has been watching. Haris Raufs pace has always been 140 kph plus with a maximum of around 155kph. What more can he do in terms of pace?

Rauf can add a few kms to his pace by landing his feet close to the crease. He is nowhere near the bowling crease when he delivers the ball.I think commentators have pointed this out.I am surprised the bowling coaches have not noticed this.

T20 is his game due to amount of overs available for him to bowl. But in ODI he needs to hit the right length consistently, yes he has variations but he needs discipline.

Both wickets in the 2nd ODI to Haris Rauf

Wahab Riaz 2.0 - nothing more, nothing less.

The hype is (was) laughable.

4-78 today against NZ.

A mixed bag of good deliveries and rubbish.

Highlights of his bowling today

He doesn’t get the lengths right. The small ground and flat pitch doesn’t help.On Australian pitches he does well. There is still a lot to learn for him.

Haris Rauf needs a rest.

Overbowled and tired.

Same with Shaheen. Needs to give up trying so hard to be an all rounder and signing up to every goofy t20 or t10 or t1 league in existence. Running himself to the ground.

This guy too. Good showings though. But Babar and management need to use their brains sometimes and rotate. Rizwan was also overworked like a machine last year. And then they will cry where did the fast bowlers vanish?!

This is so infuriating.

We have considerable resources now but poor poor management of them.

big upgrade on Wahab riaz. But needs to be econimical.

He's a guy who's barely played and long form cricket. All he knows is t20 cricket. He didn't play domestic cricket and was identified at a talent hunt. All he knows is t20 cricket. For that, he's done exceptionally to actually become a proper t20i bowler (rarely does a player from talent hunts succeed in international cricket) and is still adapting to ODI cricket. Test cricket though, I think he's past it.

The whole team/set up is not fit for test cricket. They did have 2 golden chances to become some sort of heroes by winning at least 1 WT20 trophy, but blew it 2 times.

Haris has done well.
People forget where he came from and how it all started.

Haris Rauf in his presser after 2nd ODI

"He (Rizwan) came to bat twice in the middle order and he helped the team finish the match. He and Babar Azam are extraordinary when it comes to making a partnership"

"Modern cricket is all about chasing the target. We no longer live in the days where we could face anything less than 300. As a bowler you always have to concede runs in ODI cricket and one should be always ready for that."

"A good performance in the series is crucial to get in rhythm for the upcoming Asia Cup and the ICC World Cup. Win or lose is just the part of the game but we will try to keep up the same momentum throughout the series."

"I am ready to bowl with the new ball. I'm a professional bowler who should be ready to bowl under all circumstances. I have bowled with a new ball previously against Australia and I can do that again"

That's why fans should not overhype stuff. Considering how Haris made his way into international cricket, it's already been a major success where he is right now. It seems like he's a driven individual who wants to get better, I think he will. But again, we shouldn't expect him to progress (at a speed) to a level guys who come through proper channel. Abdullah Shafique and Babar are two premier examples of players coming through age groups and domestic step by step.

Saying that, Pak Cricket would be much better if the authorities actually improve the feeder system.

Haris Rauf finished as the leading wicket-taker for the series with nine scalps and improved nine places to 42nd on the ODI bowler rankings as a result.

Off to the USA - big money beckons for Haris

LQ is the best franchise alongside PZ. They are such a great asset to Pakistan cricket!

What LQ have done is given life, a purpose to the streets! Harris is from the streets, look at home now!

Pakistan can also find their power hitters, lower order and middle order strikers from the streets if they try it the way LQ have done so with fast bowlers!

It is no joke to be able to see, react and pick up deliveries rocketed in at 90mph+ in tape ball cricket! I’ve seen the videos, there are some mad strikers of the ball! How long can the transition be from tape ball to hard ball cricket for these guys?

T20 has a big market for these players
Such a great franchise, which world class player have they produced from their PDP program?

Mirza Baig
Ahsan Bhatti
Ahmed Daniyal
Dilbar Khan
Mohammad Faizan
Maaz Khan
Salman Mirza
Syed Faridoun

This is from the last 3 seasons of PSL only. 8 players that are nowhere to be found, 8 spots that should have been taken up by deserving domestic performers and ACTUAL hard ball cricket talents.

If you could go on to the streets and find the best bowler in the world there would be no need for domestic cricket.

I urge everyone to start reading this thread from page 12 onwards.

I’ve told you to stop tagging me until you responded to the Joe Root comments. No point engaging in any further debate with you if you deliberately hide and not address what’s being said.

Don’t tag or reply to me again, I’ll do the same. I’d rather spend my time and energy on discussing things with someone who will actually respond:

A lot of hype for this guy from some Pakistani fans and 1 particular "Indian" fan who can barely get anything right and constantly ends up with his foot in his own mouth.

@Mamoon was right about him all this while. A typical talentless, brainless Pakistani bowler who can't last more than 4 overs either.

Our run machine is back in action!

It's a decline for Haris Rauf now his arrogance has brought him to a point where nobody wants to support him.
