Mohammad Hasnain allowed to resume bowling & picked for The Hundred

Pakistan Cricket Board today announced that fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain’s bowling action has been found to be legal after the amount of elbow extension in the reassessment was within the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted under the ICC Illegal Bowling Regulations. As such, he can now resume bowling in all forms of cricket, which includes domestic cricket worldwide.

Hasnain was suspended from bowling following tests conducted on his bowling action at the ICC’s accredited testing centre in Lahore on 21 January. The test report, which was reviewed and verified by the Cricket Australia’s independent expert, had found his bowling action to be illegal.

Hasnain underwent reassessment of his bowling action on 21 May at the ICC’s accredited testing centre in Lahore and the report was again verified by the Cricket Australia’s independent experts, as required under the ICC regulations.

Hasnain was reported for a suspect bowling action in January during Cricket Australia’s domestic cricket competition.

Wish him all the best!!! Lets see if he can improve himself with new bowling action.

Mohammad Hasnain has been selected by the Oval Invincibles in this year's The Hundred, as part of the Overseas Wildcard Draft.

Mohammad Hasnain said, “I’m overjoyed to be joining Oval Invincibles. The Hundred looked like great fun last year and I can’t wait to get involved. The opportunity to play alongside stars like Sunil Narine, Jason Roy and the Curran brothers is hugely exciting. I’m really looking forward to getting back out on the field again.”

Good to see this - hope he wont be stigmatized forever for his action.

Some strange coincidence that he got picked for The Hundred very soon after PCB announcement!

Ooo, please elaborate…

Nothing really - just seems that PCB informed The Hundred ahead of time and they waited for the announcement from PCB before saying they had him

My guess - the team had contacted his management and they had confirmed that his action had been cleared. Therefore they signed him up before it was officially announced.

Very astute of them - just shows the faith in his talent.

Wish some of our Pakistan supporters felt the same way

Big chance for Hasnain to showcase his talents, couple of good performances and he could really make a name for himself outside of Pakistan.

Hasnain should be well ahead of Hasan Ali, M Wasim, etc, in the selection.

Shaheen, Haris and Hasnain + spinners should be our line-up in LOIs, and in tests in Australia.

Im slightly uneasy about this.

Would prefer he got a few more games under his belt at home before being exposed to an overseas audience.

I do hope the lad does well, but it isn't the best of ideas to go into a (relatively) high profile tournament without game time under your belt.

Correct - me too - just hope he has all right support he needs for this point in his career.

Big fan of the guy and so really glad he's back in action. Though needless to say a remodelled action needs a lot of time to get matured and the bowler to feel comfortable with it. This return does seem a little premature but then maybe the experts working with him at the academy know what they're doing.

His pace will most probably be down for the time being and he'll need to gain back that rhythm. How effective will he be without that, that remains to be seen. He's not exactly known for his discipline or movement off the pitch at this stage of his career, his main weapon is that 142-150 km/hr speed.

Looked pretty impressive in his debut for Worcestershire today which is great.

A few people feel he can never be the same as he was before and their will be questions also about his confidence and the fact that he could regress when put under stress in match situations.

This is what his current records are:

A little bit bummed to see that instead of working on his shoulder mobility they just went with trying to get him to bowl more side arm. hopefully he still has a lot of success though

It's going to take him some time to adjust to this remodelled action.

2 good deliveries for the wickets and it's good that he's swung the ball.

It will be interesting to see what his pace is with the new action.

Pretty unclear from the video but it seems that atleast remodeled action didn't have massive effect on his pace.

Watched him this afternoon. Action looked OK,but his skill levels are as bad as they get at this level. He gets a bit of away drift but looked the weakest of the Worcestershire seamers. Is it that hard to hit the seam?

Still looked 140k though, I think he didn't lose more than 5ks with his new action which is great, I think he will be ready in couple of seasons.

His seam position was great pre new action and that was the reason he was getting that away movement consistently. Had it changed?

Still getting that away movement as can be seen from his 2nd dismissal.

10 balls, 1 for 19 so far.

Big wicket of Stoinis.

1 for 27 off 15 balls.

Overdoing the slower ball which most batters are picking.

Hasnain very impressive last night with 2/28 in 15 balls with the important wicket of Hales, but his team Invincibles lost to the Rockets by 25 runs

He looks more deceptive with his new action…

Action looks bit more repeatable as well and Hasnain can potentially get more comfortable with it as far as his general control is concerned than he was with his older action.

Hasnain has been very good in the tournament

He is a good franchise cricket bowler. I recon he would fetch decent money if Pakistan cricketers were allowed to participate in the IPL

He’s been getting a lot of bounce in this tournament. He has been bowling around the 88mph mark so not express but he looks very quick

Haris Shaheen Naseem all look better picks than him at moment in white ball.
If Hasan Ali finds rhythm even he will be better.

He is in queue now behind likes of Dahani etc.

Yes, action seems to be more upright/high arm now then before when it was more round armish which helps with that extra bounce with his height.

Shaheen
Rauf
Naseem
Dahani
Hasnain
Wasim jr

Without a doubt Pakistan is blessed with some serious pace in this crop of bowlers

We have a lot quantity but unfortunately quality is lacking.

The more exposure, the better they will be. Hasnain has been bowling well to the likes of Maxwell, Stoinis, Morgan and many other great modern white ball cricketers in the Hundred. The same Hasnain who debuted a few years ago would not have been this good as he is today against these world class batsmen. You need to be patient, eventually they will come through. Not everyone can be as good as Shaheen Afridi at a young age

Hasan Ali is finished unless he doesn’t add pace (he won’t)

Hasnain is more in demand with franchises than Dahani is. The guy is picked up in every franchise tournament there is, so he is actually ahead of Dahani in terms of development as a white ball bowler.

From what I've seen of him in the 100, his pace has come down which is understandable considering he's getting adapted to the new action which seems to be much less round arm that before. The fastest delivery he saw him bowl was 89mph.

His main weapon is pace as yet he's yet to develop a disciplined line and length. Let's just hope he can get back to his peak pace.

Shaheen

Adding to the list Akif Javed, Shehzad and Zaman Khan. They looked quite impressive in PSL.

Shaheen

Arshad iqbal, Akif and Zeeshan zameer too.

Let's see what Zeeshan is able to do in this year's domestics.

His last game for The Oval Invincibles before he joins the Pakistan ACC Asia Cup squad in the UAE

==

Will Smeed c Sam Curran b Mohammad Hasnain 23(13) [4s-2 6s-2]

Hasnain has not fully recovered from the ankle injury and has been ruled out from the upcoming Asian Game Men's cricket event.
