Before this season, he had no performances of note in domestic cricket.
However, he had a very good QEA Cup this year and finished some tight chases. Not many young batsmen in Pakistan are known for finishing the innings and scoring in those type of situations.

I can say the lad's got potential and has the ability to finish games and embark on difficult chases (something that is sorely missed in the Pakistan senior).
That said if I pour over heaps of praise, people would probably see it as a conflict of interest. So I'll just share the above two cents of mine.
He is from Sialkot
I know, I was talking about the 'other' conflict of interest. If you know what I mean.....![]()
The stat that actually matters.
He is just 20 years of age i think and he has everything that Pakistani batting needs right now. His overall stats dont tell you the potential because he has been made to bat at 7 and 8 many times by his seniors and even from that position he scored some match winning innings.
BUT, previously it was seen that he has tempramental issues which i hope he has worked on now. For Pakistani standards, he is still once in a generation kind of talent.
Right now, he's not ready for International stage. There is no history of scoring big runs, needs centuries under his belt in the top
Order.
21 innings and his highest score is 86 on Pakistani pitches against C grade bowlers and he's supposedly the savior of our batting.
Calm innings under pressure today when his team really needed it.
Some fine shots and chose the right balls to attack.
Definitely a good innings under pressure but apart from 2 straight sixes off Hammad Azam, there weren't any shots to be impressed from. Hope he's better than this.
And those 2 sixes made all the difference in a tight match.
He's still 20 so has time to get better with more domestic cricket under his belt.
Hasn't so far got the stats that would make you sit up and applaud the guy but today's knock in the T20 cup final getting his team over the line will win him some applause.
I don't judge on T20 cameos and for me he has to nail it in the other 2 formats especially 4 day cricket where his stats aren't there yet. He needs to have a good 2 seasons going forward to maybe get a crack by 2022-23 in the Pakistan team as he'll be 22-23.
Oh yes rather than being specific in the years I should have said 2-3 years. So he is 20 years old now and he'll be 22-23 in another 4-5 years?![]()

Saif Badar is highly rated by Shoaib Malik. This is why i am sad about Inzi not selecting young guys for A tours. We really wasted those A games.
Bats like Shubman Gill.
Classy batsman.
Really! Must be exciting prospect then.
Gill also played a decent innings yesterday - 148, on a day 4 Ranji wicket at 96 SR, but against Indian tundlers. By the way, Gill's FC stats is 82/77, List A is 48/86, and T20 is 34/146 - indeed classy, whoever bats like him has to be classy as well.
Shoaib feels threatened by Saif, which is why he completely mistreated him in PSL3.
Man of the match in the 2018 national T20 final
Man of the match in the 2019 Emerging Cup semi final vs India
But now his career seems to be falling off track
How can he improve from here?
He has worked on his fitness, lost 7-10 kg, works hard on batting
What more can he do?

Score runs, no alternatives - even for second XI. His FC average is 20, List A 29 & T20 21 with a poor SR .... just not good enough bro. If he plays 10 second XI games, minimum he has to score 800 if he bats at 3-4 or average 60+ if he bats at 5/6 ... otherwise you can say good bye.
Score runs
Given plenty of chance but failed so far
He needs one good innings of 50+ in a PSL game and he’ll get consistent chances from then on. Sadly that’s one of the few ways to get recognised these days. That’s why the road ahead is tougher for Abdullah than Haider even though Abdullah seems a more compact player.
Score runs maybe?
Is a process to scoring runs.
Maybe his practice sessions are wrong? MMHS
I think, it’s more to do with concentration & poor defensive technique - he can play cute shots here & there, but cricket is a game of mental endurance- you have to be perfect for hours, sessions together. Honestly speaking, I don’t see that happening and time is running out fast. He might never play ODI/Test for PAK, but can hope for his luck in T20s - basically few slogged 30s & 40s at 170+ SR in PSL or National T20 should be enough for him to bring into contention.

I completely disagree. He might have technical issues but if he is determined he can work on them. He can carve out a middle order niche for the national Test team where Asad Shafiq currently is. For that he has to have a quality first class season and so far he’s barely even getting opportunities.
Bullet Drive what I would suggest is he first find a way to impress his regional coach/selector/captain. He needs to grab any opportunities he gets with both hands and cash in, regardless of what format it is. For example, 2 T20 50’s this month would have guaranteed him a consistent run in FC cricket.
Hopefully he still gets that, managing to impress the selector in the nets or otherwise. At that stage he needs to have a breakout FC season and top the charts at least for the number 5-6 position and come in the top 10 overall.
Despite what people criticize, a lot of Misbah’s selections are FC based like Zafar Gohar, Abid Ali, Kashif Bhatti, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imran Khan, Sohail Khan, etc. Imran Butt who top-scored QAE last year was in the reserves for England.
There is a route for Badar, but he needs to first strengthen his relationships and at least get consistent backing in domestics. After that, it comes down to his performances.
Frustrating. Because he wants to play proper cricket, not T20 cricket solely
He scored 118 in first-class cricket in 2018. His next first-class innings came 1 year later, and he's since never played a game since.
I think, there was still enough opportunities for him - I did keep an eye on him for sometimes. During that period, there was Patron’s Cup, a three days tournament one level lower than FC & QeA qualifiers, which I believe wasn’t FC status - can’t recall if I have noticed anything significant from him in that level either. Besides, he got chances in PSL & NT20, PAK Cup as well - for a country of 23 crore and thousands of players ... that’s more than fair share to make a mark. If Abdullah Shafique doesn’t get a chance, you can blame selection nepotism, but for Babar, I don’t think he has helped himself much here.
Saif badar cant say he wasnt given enough chances !
One of the rare youngster with some attacking shots that is allowed to bat in the top 4/5.
Watching him play and taking on the spinner you could tell he has talent. The problem is, once again, he didnt cash in. And his dismissal was pretty poor. This was a great opportunity for him against an average bowling attack on an OK pitch. If he can't develop the discipline to bat long innings and make big runs, he just isnt going to last long at the top level.
