[VIDEOS] "I feel I am ready for international cricket" : Sahibzada Farhan

Why should Rizwan bat at the lower position ?
Farhan is a player who can utilize the power play well compared to Rizwan so it's better we can send Rizwan down the order where Azam Khan was batting and replace Azam with Sahibzada Farhan and make him open with Saim.

Rizwan refuses to bat at 5 in ODI’s, I highly doubt he’ll want to bat lower than 3 in ODi’s, where you can’t stat pad.

And I feel he is like countless other Pakistani domestic bullies - cannot play the short ball against international quicks on bouncy wickets and cannot field for toffee.

He did really well in the 2021, 2022, and 2023 National T20 tournaments, being the top scorer each time. But now, when he finally gets a chance and we're making him play in a different position. If we want to give him a fair shot, let him open the game.

He should bat at number 5 for KK and KPK going forward

No point trying to score your runs as an opener.

He isn't a power hitter.

He can only play as an opener in T20's, as an anchor type batsman.

No point of playing him below the opening slot.

One thing is common between all these mediocre batsman coming now a days from Pakistan...
They all have some tag lines...
He is ready for international.
Ifikhar is best finisher.
Azam khan is a match winner.
So on and so forth..

Another player forced to bat in middle cause senior player won’t give up his space . It’s funny how some player get special treatment . Player scoring all the runs in domestic as opener being told to play as middle order batter 🤣🤣 because fragile ego of seniors

What was Farhan thinking slogging his second ball!

I don’t think not playing on your favourite batting position should be an excuse for international players. My message to young guns is that if you can’t adapt and use your brain, then get lost.

Couldn't have said it any better. So if a players bats out of their position that's means they forget how to play cricket according some.

Problem is next step up is PSL. Not international. Remember Imam doing well in domestic t20s and then failing in PSL.

Especially if he could outperform guys like Rizwan, Babar and fakhar in PSL, he might get support for opening slot.

I hope a team gives him a solid run in PSL and we can see how he does.

Can you share Imam’s stats of doing well in domestic T20? I want to understand what is the definition of ‘doing well’ according to you

They did Farhan dirty today man.

He might not be good enough for international level but you have to give him a chance at 1,2 or 3. Some brain dead stuff from management.

Yes for real.

He was the highest run scorer in the National T20 2021, 2022 and 2023 with a great SR as well. And when he got the chance to play, they played him wayyyy out of his natural position...at #5....

In International cricket, you wont get your comfort zone. Have to grab any chance you got. atleast show that you belong to this level. Many top openers in the world and batsman didnt start their career on their original positon like Smith, Hussey, Green, S Anwar, Rohit Sharma, Younis Khan there are many example, stop crying on batting positions even Babar batted on Middle Order during Saifi times but these players left their mark in International cricket and got their original positions.

The squad requirements meant his opportunity was to come at 5.

There was no space at the top of the order but plenty in the middle.

If Farhan is a strong person he takes full responsibility for his poor shot and performance.

If he is a weak person he cries about how he is playing out of position and it is too hard for him boo hoo

Pakistan... best performing opener of the last few years and let's slot him at 5

A player should be able to grab any opportunity that comes his way. Only 20-30 quick runs would have helped him but he missed the chance, Yes he is a top-order guy but this is international cricket and the National team of your country. Competition is high, you cannot miss your chance.

Let’s play him in middle order and let him fail . So then we can say we don’t have talent coming up . Guy is picked on his opening skills and gets played in middle order because boss is on top

They are planning to open with Haseebullah today which is so daft.
Haseeb plays in the middle order for Zalmis so they should have opened with Farhan today.
Haseeb takes a while to start whereas Farhan is aggressive. I'm not a fan of this move tbh, it means Farhan will play at #5 again.

Was sent so down the order in today's game and could not do as well as he should have done. Also, his fielding is like 2 out of 10 for international standards.

Already have 100s of openers in domestics, so I can see why they played Sahibzada in the lower middle order. There is no half-decent number 6 or 7 in domestics, and Sahibzada has shown hitting potential in the past few seasons, albeit as an opener. Haseebullah is a solid test player but a quota pick in T20s.

Don't understand the decision of management playing farhan at the 5th position when he has scored a pile of runs in domestic cricket while opening.

That is a pure example of how PCB destroys careers.

I think it’s because Farhan already played as an opener years ago and failed. So we thought we’d try something new instead of giving him another chance. Which is also why we chose Saim to open over fakhar. And why we thought we’d give Haseebullah a chance. Anything new. Rather than properly developing players over time.

How hard is it to do the just absolute bare minimum? Nobody is asking the PCB to do miracles, just play your best performing opener at least 1 match as opener?

This would be even more wrong as you are making him play at the number on which the player never played in his whole career. So what would you expect from him at the international level?

Obviously he can't do any wonders. Moreover you have already given only one match to your best performer sahibzada farhan of the local tournament which shows how much serious you guys take such performances. These kinds of things will even more demotivate other players who want to get into the team on merit thinking that if they perform well they can earn a place.

Gave him a chance in the last 2 T20Is in the middle order, and now they will tell him. For all your years of consistent performances in domestic cricket, we gave you a chance, but you failed. Now go perform again in domestic cricket.

Your top performer Farhan hardly got selected after three years of consistent performances but managemet made him play at the number 5 position which shows you deliberately want to destroy his career.

Sahibzada Farhan scored a quickfire 38 runs on just 23 deliveries in the opening match of SPL, helped his team get a flying start.

I think Farhan looked a bit more composed in the 5th T20 vs NZ. I would like to have a another look at him.

Mohammad Hafeez during a live show pointed out the flaw in Farhan’s batting technique, he said:

“He looked pretty uncomfortable while facing the first over, despite being an opener. He has this recurring issue of struggling against the swinging new ball,”

“He is a great product and had a great season, but he needs to work on this issue. He needs to play the new ball with more control, otherwise, the top-class new-ball bowlers will keep challenging him.”

He is not an international standard opener. Naseem is an ordinary fast bowler and he looked all at sea vs him.

Imagine him facing the genuine world class pacers like Bumrah, Cummins, Starc, Rabada, Wood, Boult, Shami etc.

He will do well against the associate and weak sides but he will be found out against the best and we already have plenty of players who fit that category.

That is a very ironic statement from someone who couldn’t work on these technical issues in spite of playing for 20 years.

Sahibzada Farhan played a magnificent knock today 69*(67) to help PTV overcome the challenge of Ghani Glass in the President One Day Cup 2024 today

Sahibzada Farhan makes a comeback into team green. He is in the playing XI of Pakistan in their second T20I against Bangladesh at Lahore.

He seems to have worked on his footwork. Previously his feet were jammed in the ground. In PSL and yesterday, he was using his feet well. He is someone whose hits can actually clear bigger grounds as well.

He needs to consistently score runs at a good strike rate otherwise he will get dropped.

Sahibzada Farhan departs after a fiery cameo of 21(10) against Afghanistan in the opener of UAE Tri-Nation series 2025

He batted well today, but I think he needs to work on his shot selection and try to stay at the crease a bit longer. The shot that he got out to, some people might say that was unfortunate, but it was a high-risk shot, and Farhan knew exactly that a fielder had been specifically placed there for that purpose.

That shot was on, just unlucky it went straight to the fielder. On most days it’s a certain four, or if someone like Azmatullah bowls that again he might get hit for a six too off that line.

All our players’ dismissals tonight were fine, execution has to get better. Have to work on getting these shots played better, rather than not play them at all.

You do realise he has hit 5 T20 centuries this year in the lead up to his selection? He knows how to go big. He also has 2x 150+ scores in T20.

Only International T20 fifties and hundreds count (esp. against the top 5-6 sides). The rest are just meaningless runs.

I am sure top teams will have a better plan against him

I’m sure he will work on plans to counter better teams too.

I’ll give you one example. A bowler like Bracewell can close his eyes, roll his arm over to Babar and get him out.

Sahibzada IMPALED Bracewell during the PSL on both occasions the teams met. He absolutely tore him to shreds in the powerplay and outside of it.

He was looking in good touch before he played that shot... I liked his approach. Certainly better than saim and fakhar atm.

Oman fielder dropped a sitter, as Sahibzada Farhan gets another life. Can he make it count?

Typical statement by below average Pakistani players these days, " I feel I am ready for international cricket".

Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan has once again created a storm on social media after a video of him trolling Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah went viral. Bumrah had a proud record of never being hit for a six in T20 internationals, but that changed in the Asia Cup 2025 when Farhan smashed him for multiple sixes and became the first batter to break that record.

The two teams met three times during the recent Asia Cup, in the group stage, Super 4, and the final, and Farhan showed top confidence in every game while facing Bumrah. The right-handed opener, who finished as Pakistan’s highest run-getter in the tournament, looked very comfortable against the Indian speedster.

In a recent promotional video, Farhan mocked Bumrah over the six-hitting record. He said, “Kya yeh wohi bowler hai jisko abhi tak chakka nahi laga? Maine kaha yeh kaise ho sakta hai? Three innings, 150 runs akele. Jab hum khelte hai, toh yeh nahi dekhte ki saamne wala kaun hai. (Is this the bowler who has never been hit for a six? I thought, how is this possible? Three innings, 150 runs alone. When we play, we don’t see who is bowling).”

I didn’t know he hadn’t been hit for a 6 in T20’s before, and if he did, then I was sure it was Sir Riz Wan who got their first, aka the launching expert

Come for the best, die like da rest. The GOAT will be waiting for him now. :bumrah

Being ready for international cricket khaane ke barabar nahi hai.

Farhan hasn't really done much since that innings against India has he?

I'm gonna have to set him a scoring target for this game depending on the match situation and he will have to reach it.

He has definitely met the target that I had set for him today. Good good.

Jee sir…

Any more expert opinions for us?

Sahibzada Farhan shared following thoughts in post match press conference today:

🗣 **Support for Babar Azam**

“I’m happy with how I’ve come out of a poor patch after a couple of tough games. I especially liked the focus on strike rotation. As for Babar, he’s one of the best players. Everyone supports him and cares deeply whenever he plays. We’re confident he’ll deliver in the upcoming matches, Inshallah.”

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 **Crowd Support and Team Unity**

“It’s the same team, the same boys. Babar is part of us, not from another side. We’re glad the crowd supports him and us too. I always enjoy batting with him. He deserves the backing he gets, and that’s what drew the crowd’s attention.”

📈 **Hard Work, Domestic Cricket, and Permanence**

“Alhamdulillah, I’ve topped the domestic charts for four years and also led the PSL. But after a few quiet games, my brother reminded me not to relax because competition is always there. I had a long chat with Fakhar today; he explained things with his experience and reminded me that Allah rewarded me with this performance. Whenever I feel stuck, I go to him for advice.”

🏆 **Role of PSL vs. Domestic Performance**

“Since I topped both the domestic circuit and the PSL, it was natural that my performances there helped me earn a place in the team. PSL is a strong brand, but I proved myself in both arenas.”

🗓 **Ambitions Beyond T20**

“As a player, I want to play Test cricket too. It’s the format that brings pride to Pakistan. I’ve done well in ODIs with an average above 40, but our current openers are performing strongly. If the team needs me, I’m ready.”

🎯 **Addressing the Dot Ball Issue**

“I worked closely with our batting coach, reviewing my videos. He explained that after hitting a boundary, I should focus on rotating the strike with singles or doubles. That’s what I applied today, and I think my strike rate showed improvement.”

🔄 **Playing Position and Targeting Bowlers**

“From the start, I was an opener in four-day, ODIs, and T20s. But when Babar and Rizwan were performing brilliantly, you couldn’t break that pair. The 5th or 6th spot was open, so I accepted it happily. I knew my time as opener would come. As for bowlers, I believe in targeting the best ones. Even if I fail, I’m fine with it, because putting pressure on a top bowler makes the rest easier to face.”

For the first time in his T20I career
Sahibzada Farhan scored a half-century while chasing in T20Is, It came in a 129-run chase (Previous Best was 28 runs)

And don’t be surprised if he ends up making a documentary on this innings, How he took on the mighty Lankans in a Tri-Series match .

:kp

Why does he get so much hate?
Seems like a hard working and honest cricketer.

Has a very high opinion of himself

Can't remember what game it was in the Asia cup but we lost and I believe the guy posted a video montage of his innings on his Twitter or Insta. And it wasnt even that good of a innings.

Some of these guys can't read the room.
