[VIDEOS] Imad Wasim taking dig after dig at Babar Azam

Like it did last year proving Fakhar is a better opener than Babar and Rizwan?

Fakhar has played multiple clutch Innings in semi finals and finals and also when series have been on the line he's a clutch player.

Imad can take all the pot shots he likes The fact is as a player he is not any where near the same league as babar

He needs to concentrate on his personal performance before he thinks hes the next coming of imran khan

It was Babar who claimed that he wanted to be a leader like Imran Khan

What was the result? 3-0 defeat at home against England

Imad may or may not be saying the right thing.

But he hasn’t won this year’s PSL so best to big up his approach and slag the previous guy after he has won it.

One word - insecurity.

Babar doesn't need anyone to talk for him. Captain and one of the best batsmen in the world - Imad will never sing that.

Great interview Imad

Yes from this captain

Great interview as always. Imad is a good interviewee and a good captain. He has a much much better chance of winning this PSL than Babar.

One win in 5 suggest you arent being serious

Alas, if only we had anyone who is the next coming of Imran Khan.

Even the current skipper isn't fit to clean Imran Khan's boots.

I do not think it is a silly statement.

Karachi Kings have been playing excellent this season, only some results have not gone their way. Otherwise, they are an extremely good and entertaining team that can win it.

I have been keeping an eye at the table very regularly. I hold the opinion that KK will jump to all the way to the 2nd of the table once they win their next matchup against the Sultans. It will be a tough match, but I believe the KK will edge them out.

Imad Wasim has played like a champion and has led like a true captain on the field and pitch. Credit is due to him for saving the KK.

The purpose of playing well is to win games. Rest is your personal dislikes etc.

The tables can turn in the next 1/2 of the tournament. Unlike last year, I see Karachi having a good chance of even winning the tournament despite of having 1-4 record - if they can win the next 2 games to get the ball rolling. Hero worshipping have got some folks blind of not seeing the difference between Babar and Imad leadership difference.

Only reason people want Karachi to do well is because of this Imad and Babar divide, when they don’t deserve to play the play-offs based on the terrible team they have right now.

A terrible team loses without giving a bloody nose to its rival. Perhaps you and I are watching different PSL. We are not in 2022 anymore.

Kings have played MOSTLY entertaining T20 cricket and has taken the opponents 3/4 times in their losses to the edge. If a boxer is taking an opponent to the final round, it does not mean that he is a bad boxer.

Perhaps Kings are short of skills vs a few other teams, but not by much. We shall see the 2nd half of this event to judge.

And so it proves that Imad taking digs at Babar Azam was justified? What's the connection?

I am not sure of what digs he took. But I hold the opinion that Imad Wasim is saving the KK. The team has been playing excellent cricket this season and they are definitely amongst the strong contenders to win it.

I predicted that KK will win against MS and they just did today. It was a crucial and monumental match.

They’ve consistently picked the wrong teams. Consistently. Imran Tahir being played over Shamsi. Tayyab Tahir ignored. Yamin still in the team.

They haven’t been playing excellent cricket this season, but they’ve finally made the big calls to make their team better. I think they’ll make the playoffs, but they also don’t have the batting to keep out that LQ attack.

Babar dropping Imad from international team despite Imad being one of the best performers in WT20 is what is unjustified.

Imad has in fact acted like a gentleman and has not cried in media like akmals/others, would normally do.

Taking a veiled dig at a rival captain in a private league is nothing untoward. It happens in all competition across sports

KK will not make it to the playoffs. And that's because of the dumb selections they've made when it comes to building a team. In majority of their matches so far, Imad has been the only one to take the fight to the opposition while the others have wilted away.

Fuller, Tye, Haider have been three real brainless picks.

Not to say PZ didn't do very well either. Danish Aziz, Irshad, Powell (considering it was a platinum pick).

Both teams could have done much better. Meanwhile QG have looked the most unbalanced again.

Alright Nostradamus who will make the play offs if KK don’t?

Hes hardly acted like a gentleman Ive seen various interviews wheres hes had a moan and digs at babar

Hes another pakistani player that instead of proving his performances feels like he should have a permanent place in the team

After Anwar Ali’s dismissal in the 16th over, when Ihsanullah was coming onto the crease to bat, Imad can be heard in the background instructing Akif Javed to not bowl a full length delivery to Ihsanullah and only bowl bouncers to him

While passing these instructions, Imad used an abusive term for Ihsanullah.

"Don’t bowl full delivery to this **, only bowl bouncers," said Imad.

Last year, Imad was fined five per cent of his match fee for a Level 1 breach of the PSL Code of Conduct during his Karachi Kings’ one-run defeat against Islamabad United in the 21st match of the HBL Pakistan Super League 2022 at the Gaddafi Stadium.

Imad was found to have violated Article 2.5 of the PSL Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during a PSL Match”.

MS, IU, LQ

A tussle between PZ and KK.

Don't need to be a foreteller to state the obvious.

So you said above KK won’t make it into the play offs and now you are saying it’s a tussle between them and PZ

Make your mind up mate

You’re right in some regard. The playing XI wasn’t good. But Tahir isn’t an issue. Haider Ali is. Babar Azam still haunts the KK even after being traded out. The incoming batsman, Haider, has been such a menace to KK’s chances in a couple of matches. It’s no surprise that dropping Haider Ali resulted in an resounding KK victory. Credit to Imad Wasim for making, what some may consider, a bold step.

They’ve beat the LQ bigly. And they are well capable of repeating those heroics.

KK will make it to the playoffs.

You have to remember, next few games are in Lahore, where, as you saw today, those are absolute roads. Even Rashid Khan was getting walloped. So the differential there is the bowling attack. And KK are still playing Aamir Yamin. They’re one bowler short of being a contender. I think Imad, Amir, Akif and Shamsi are good, but Yamin is a pressure valve release.

If they trade out Yamin for Qasim, then we’re talking.

Nothing wrong with that. Gaaliyan are part of every sport in the world. Pakistan team has done it in the past, currently does it and will keep doing it in the future. Similarly, other teams do it against Pak too.

This “haw haye” gaali kesay de di type people need to find a different hobby.

That’s harsh :))

It’s not as if he was saying that to Ihsanullah himself.

Most folks here were not even born probably when The king of swear - Sarfraz Nawaz used to play for Pak. The greatest captain of Pakistan Imran Khan was not angel AND tge brigade following up was full of MEN with mouth full of GALi Galoch. Oh but Imad, what a horrible man he is...Tauba Tauba?

I don't mind a few choice words here and there from players.

Most of the greatest Pakistani cricketers ever didn't mind mixing it with the opposition and were no angels. I just wish we had a few more players of that sort these days.

I wonder how many galis were said when Pakistan won the WC in 92 or when they drawed level with the great WI’s side in the late 80’s.

Am sure plenty of galis were said in the late 90’s, that was a fun team to follow though.

Wasim Akram once told a story of Ambrose tackling Abdul Qadir on the floor during their flight when Qadir kept throwing a paper plane at him back in late 80s.

Fair enough Imad. More of this needed, to clear the air. Building bridges etc.

Don’t understand why he was misinterpreted in the first place. He was right all along

“Agar woh hamari team combination main nahi aata tou nahi aata”

Rizwan only works as an opener and that totally unbalances the side. What are you going to do now with Azam in the team keeping stumps? Rizwan will be playing solely as a batsman

How genuine was this hug? Seemed so to me.

Imad is clearly regretting the rubbish he said about Babar in front of the media these last few months, and he will have to try and get into Babar's good books with these antics now.

It is a shame that he had to come down at this level, where most Pakistan fans don't want to see him playing because of his toxic behaviour of siding with the likes of Amir and going against the best player the country has had in the last 15 years.

He is not a bad player, especially in LOIs, he just thought he was bigger than what he actually was, and this hug is obviously fake, but Imad knows that he messed up big time.

Think imad is just upset he was dropped. Regardless of people’s views on him, his stats alone were too good to be dropped. It was unjust. If he were to eventually fail, you let him fail you don’t predict it.

Imad was pushed out of the team and squad when he didn’t deserve it. Was pushed out of captaincy in PSL when he didn’t deserve it. It’s going to make a person feel bitter understandably.

I do wonder who made the decision about Imad out of the squad. Imad probably doesn’t know the exact person either which is why he lay blame to everyone.

At the end of the day they are team-mates and their goal should be to help Pakistan win - nothing else.

We've had many rivalries over the years in Pakistan cricket, players have not got on, but they did their bit for the team - Wasim and Waqar are two examples of this.

Imad and Babar don't have to get on, as long as they perform to the best of their ability.

This is one way to dilute the constant pressure building on Babar's captaincy. It is obviously all fake however, this showcasing of good gesture is needed to bond before the biggest event of cricket.

This is the whole point that people need to understand.

The point is that all decisions taken on the field are for the best interest of Pakistan, and there is no reason to think that there is anything suspicious about Babar's way of captaincy.

So how did KK do in the PSL?

Joking aside, I do have a lot of time for Imad as a player in the shorter versions of the game and we missed him in the last World Cup. However, I'm also pragmatic and mature enough to realise that these are not just black and white decisions made on the whim of the captain.

Responsibility for his non selection has to go to the selectors and management staff.
A good management staff should be able to handle different egos

Good to see.

As I said before, one thing I like about this era is little to no beefs in the international team.

Imad is pro in front of the camera

Agreed. With his UK upbringing he has a future in commentating. His body language though was a little bit defensive with the hands folded bit.

He's a natural though and with a bit of work could have a very bright future in that field. A good start to the career with an interview of the best batter from Pakistan.

I am glad Babar has now seen light and is in Imad’s good books now.

We all make mistakes.

I am glad Babar has now seen light and is in Imad’s good books now.

We all make mistakes.

It's a gain for all.

Imad doesn't have much of a choice but to fall in line.

He needs to continue performing as he is. If he does that no one, Babar or otherwise, can touch him.

Imad's personal stupidity has cost him a lot... he is still better than most of our no6 batsmen ... and he could have played as a slasher with nawaz n shadab.

but his personal political stupidity cost him his place and he has lost the respect of everyone

even now, the tension is there.. he looks out of place

So, PCB told Imad to do the interview with Babar Azam.

Tbh apart from his bitter cousin nobody wants it with Babar.

Every single detractor has been forced to take back their statements including afridi, doull, sethi etc.

His team mates literally worship him and so do the fans.

We make fun of his personality and perceived timid nature but the dude commands serious respect.

Imad has realised this now too.

Commands? How so?

If your team mates say its a sin to criticise you, then that is commanding respect.

How so? I have no idea but so far he has won every battle with every detractor.

Even the battle against Zimbabwe in the World Cup?

From the interview Imad looks nervous. You can see in his body language, he's constantly changing, crossing arms, fidgeting. Is trying much more in the interview. Even if Imad is probably shows more showmanship on camera.

Babar isn't doing much, but just talking and looks calm.

I wonder if it's simply Imad is nervous doing the interview, or it's an awkward situation between him and Babar. It does however look like Imad is trying to make amends in the interview.

It's a shame in a way Imad's been wronged the worst out of everyone. This is probably why he acted out the way he did, even if it was wrong. How many cricketers are shown the door with those sort of stats, and that little competition? Not many. He's had to perform out of his mind to get back a call up that not even himself might have thought possible. But that's the way international cricket works, he won't get an apology and he's back in the position where he's trying to cement his place in the side again.

Agreed. But what did Doull and Sethi retract again?

Sethi seemed quick to remove babar from captaincy but retracted. Then tried to blame it on Afridi who denied wanting to replace Babar either.

Doull was being championed as an anti babar hero but he also quickly clarified and toned down his rhetoric.

No he didn’t

Doull was grilling him again in the Afghanistan series

What are you on about??

So Rana wants Imad to be captain, a giy who lead his team to the bottom of table in PSL. Thats a nice criteria.

If Babar can be the captain having won only 1/10 games so why not Imad?

This is exactly how you know they're an unformed blind cheerleader of Babar and therefore by virtue also an uninformed blind hater of Imad.

If I was an informed Babar cheerleader/Imad hater, there's no way in the world I would bring Imad's record at KK because it's basically akin to scoring an own goal.

Babar led KK last year and won 1 out of 10, as you mentioned. Imad takes over with a much weaker batting line up but at least managed to win 3 matches out of the 10 played.

They also moved one place in the table. That's good progress and for a captain who's already led his side to the PSL I'm sure they'll do one better next season and qualify for the play-offs.

Lets see if Imad can win his first trophy as captain of a professional cricket side. Hasn't won anything at U19, domestic, PSL nor at international level because he's not a leader but a serial loser.

The guy captaining Pakistan had 1 win in 10 in his first PSL season as captain

The second season he was a dummy captain to Darren Sammy

Yet Imad cannot lead Pakistan according to his haters

He would be a much better option than Babar and Shadab in white ball cricket. What makes him standout is his mentality. He's got the fight in him and never looks flustered even when he's struggling. Most of the other players are a bunch of timid kittens who take inspiration from Misbah with his cake cutting exercises.

Babar is a real leader for welcoming Imad who probably has no choice but to fall in line and bow down to the bow down to the game, or else he’d face the shovel.

But I am partly disappointed in Imad, all the heroic talk, but face to face he turned into a kitten. He’s a lot like many folk who talk rubbish about Babar, but most likely would run to take a selfie with him in person.

I don't think Babar had much choice. He had to accept Imad back into the squad.

Tbh I think the media plays up comments a little bit. Imad was taking some subtle digs. But he didn't say anything to burn a bridge or destroy the relationship. And you could take his comments as being directed at the chief-selector just as much, if not not more.
