Something very comical about this lawsuit.

They pay Shoaib around 1 million PKR a month to appear on a game show throughout the world cup.

He resigns and appears on other tv shows and this has caused 100 million loss to PTV?

If he is that important why is he not paid more? He should be paid 10 million pr. month at least if he is that important.

Apparently Shoaib became very upset and demoralized when he found out how much PTV was paying David Gower and Viv Richards for just one months work. It was around ten times his annual retainer. He went to the PTV Sports management complaining about their exploitation of him and that he had much higher offers from other broadcasters. He demanded a raise to Rs 2.5 million a month and an additional Rs 20 million for the T20 WC.

Since Shoaib left the show after that fiasco, there has been a drastic fall in viewership for PTV Sports and many advertisers and broadcasters have left the show.

The decision to pay so much to Gower, Richards does not make economic sense. PTV is primarily telecast to the Pakistani audience for whom Urdu is the premier language. They are not going to tune in to listen to Gower and Richards but might be inquisitive about what Shoaib has to say.

If Shoaib is bringing the trp, eye balls, advertisers then he has to be paid a premium for it

Pavilion show had better tv rating, it is waste of money to hire foreigners considering the audience.

The state-owned Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) network has withdrawn the legal notice it had sent to enigmatic fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar for recovery of approximately 10 million rupees as damages for an alleged breach of contract.

A source aware of the developments said that the PTV network had withdrawn its legal notice to Akhtar during a sessions court hearing in Lahore.

“Their lawyer informed the court that the matter had been settled with Shoaib so they were withdrawing the notice and the case should be closed," he said.

PTV had sent a notice to the former Pakistan fast bowler to pay 10 million rupees and three months salary as damages for breaching a contract with them.

The dispute between the state-owned network, which had hired Akhtar for its sports channel on a three-year contract as expert, began when the fast bowler announced he was resigning from his job with PTV during a live World Cup show and walked out of the studio minutes after he was told by the host, Dr Nauman Niaz, that he was being rude and if he wanted he could leave.

Later, the spat between Akhtar and Niaz led to both of them being taken off air and there was also a formation of an inquiry committee by the PTV MD, with the former refusing to appear before it unless the host apologised for his behaviour.

Two weeks ago however, the dispute was settled through the intervention of federal minister for information, Fawad Chaudhary, and other influential persons.

Niaz made an “unconditional apology" for his behaviour and also released a video on Facebook in which he apologised.

Apparently even Dr Nauman has been let go. Shoaib was bringing the traffic to PTV Sports, the viewership has gone up ever since he came back.

According to PTV Sources, Latif and Nauman Niaz had a monopoly in PTV for far too long and ratings had plummeted, they wanted to take a fresh approach and bring in new anchors and other analysts to turn things around. Latif is very boring to listen too.
