Is he a gujjar?
Isn’t Shoaib Akthar from the same community? I vaguely remember him saying that.

Many are saying that Umran is from the Gujjar community.
I think Akhtar is Gujjar too.
Kashmiri Gujjars are different from Pakistani Gujjars. They are a nomadic cmmunity - in fact they dont even identify as Kashmiri unlike those from Kashmir valley
Ma sha Allah! What a find and pleasing to know he is from Kashmir.

Yes, He is from the state of J and K.

Have huge doubts on speed guns in IPL - they are clearly manipulated upwards by 3-4 kph - but still he looked sharp & was working up good pace
Should be groomed for future
Why not, Malcolm Marshall was only 5-9 (not saying he is going to be the next MM).... He is only 18, so in time he should become a 150K bowler as he gets stronger...
Could you provide solid proof of this?
so as per you Bhuvi, natrajan, sandeep sharma et all bowl 135-140 kmph + in the IPL and their real speeds elsewhere?
He isn't from the valley. He is from Jammu.
Umran Malik does not look like 150 kph. More like 145 kph. U see Lockie Ferguson bowling 150 kph - u can see the difference
Generally all these T20 leagues juice up speed guns to build up hype
.Stokes clocked 150 kph in 2019 IPL
Its same everywhere. So many Pak pacers bowl 150 kph in PSL but bowl only reach 140 kph in internationals.
Report - Jammu and Kashmir and SRH pacer Umran Malik selected as Team India's net bowler

Yes according to reports he'll be staying in UAE with the Indian squad.
Impressive by Indian pacer. Things are happening a bit too soon for him though
Bowling in nets should give him lots of experience
This guy is a special special bowler. Was constantly clocking 150kph plus with great seam swing and accuracy. This guy seems to have the lot India have another gem and n their hands… bumrah and usman Malik is a mouth watering duo to have in your team.
India are producing some seriously special talent atm will rule for another decade easily
He's not... Apart from couple of deliveries he bowled poorly last game..He’s already the second best Indian pacer after Bumrah.
He is a t20 specialist,
won't be able to bowl at the pace in ODI's or tests.
Better just stick to T20 or risk going the Munaf Patel route.

He is 22. Barely starting his career and you have labelled him xyz specialist.
He is seriously rubbish.
Just because he is from J&K some of my fellow indians want this guy in the Indian team.![]()
I think plenty of Indian cricket administrators would want the same. But honestly, right now he is not even good enough to play for most top-level associate teams, let alone India.
He started playing hard ball cricket only a couple of years back. He is playing because he is capable of bowling at 95 MPH. Thats not a common thing.
He will develop as he plays more matches and gets experience. Right now he is very raw as he has hardly had any training.
If a bowler bowls at 150 plus, he will get his chances to play, doesn't matter if he is from Jammu or Andaman.
He is seriously rubbish.
You know nothing about cricket.
I maintain this guy is seriously good and the real deal getting smacked around in t20 is not the bar to judge someone as anyone can get carted around in t20.
This guy will be special give him a few years

Might not be common in India, but it is here.
Average pace of 150ish kph is not even common at the International level, let alone Pakistan.
Umran Malik's average pace is not 150 or 150ish. It is in the high 140s.
And that kind of pace is common in Pakistan. Just right now we have 4-5 bowlers who can bowl at that kind of pace.

I know Indian fans such as yourself are excited at the prospect he presents. But all I will say is that temper your expectations. Just because someone can bowl fast, does not necessarily mean they will be any good. Or that they won't have their entire career derailed by injuries.
Pace is a great tool to have and without a doubt he has a long way to go and can be molded into a proper fast-bowler. But that said, he really needs to start using his brain while bowling. Because there's no excuse for that
So you have 4-5 bowlers who can hit 95mph.
Who are they?
Rauf, Musa, Salman Irshad, Naseem, and Hasnain

Brilliant from him
his speeds mentioned in the video

Hasnain is a chucker. He is banned.
Rauf has hit 95mph.
Can you show a few instances where Musa Salman etc hit 95 mph.
He bowled excellently today and made Russell look like a novice.
Like I said you can’t buy 150kph speed. Hes going to form a mouth watering duo with Bumrah opening the Indian bowling.
Some of the Pakistani fans are talking nonsense that don’t rate him. The same people that said the same thing about Haris Rauf for Pakistan aww he’s not good enough etc are hanging their heads in shame as he’s proven them wrong
Umran is a future star and will can possibly become the top 5 best bowlers in the world soon
Producing fast-bowlers that can breach 90 mph consistently. It's something common here in Pakistan.
Hitting 95 mph and consistently bowling at 95 mph are two very different things.
Umran may hit 95 mph every now and then but his average pace is 90-91, not 95 mph. And that too in T20s. Most fast-bowlers these days drop their pace when they are bowling in the longer formats. So there's no telling how much his pace will drop further if he actually plays real cricket.
But coming back to your question, Pakistan has 4-5 bowlers who can consistently bowl at 90 mph. They are: Mohammad Musa, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Hasnain, Zeeshan Zameer.
And I am fairly certain that there are many more in the country that are just waiting to be discovered or unearthed by a talent hunt.
Producing fast-bowlers that can breach 90 mph consistently. It's something common here in Pakistan.
Hasnain has a illegal action.
Bumrah Shami Kuldeep Prasidh Umran Saini all are capable of bowling in excess of 90 mph. But only one is capable of hitting 95mph.
So how many of those you listed hit 95mph?
This is a myth. We have not produced express bowlers for a long timr.
So what? That doesn't mean he can't remodel his action and come back.
No they are not. Out of these only Umran is capable of hitting that pace.
Shami and Prasidh Krishna are 135 kph bowlers. Bumrah and Saini are high 130s, low 140s.
I have seen Musa, Naseem, Haris Rauf all hit 95 mph. Zeeshan Zameer hasn't played as much top-level cricket but he too can easily crack that barrier. That said, only a fool would bowl at that pace consistently, especially if they are playing real cricket and not shugal, mela T20 cricket. Because not only does bowling at that pace reguarly open the risk of serious injuries that stay with you for a lifetime, but it also makes you a brainless, one-dimensional bowler that batters can smack around with ease.

Naseem, Musa, Haris are all express for today's standards. Haris Rauf, Nortje and Lockie Ferguson are quite literally the fastest bowlers in the world today. Which alternate reality are you living in?
No offense but what matches have you been watching?
