I've never rated him. When I watch him bat, I feel like I'm just watching a Misbah clone. It's the same style, consumes a lot of dot deliveries and then hits the odd six but always fall short of an acceptable strike rate. His batting is an eye sore.

I never understood why he's got so many fans here.

His game against spin is terrible. He can't rotate strike against spin to save his life which is why he has to play those hoiks
 
Hes very limited and dated on his approach

He cant really run between wkts for quick singles and he seems to have one release hit down the ground He has trouble putting good balls away for singles or twos and consumes a lot of dot balls

Like posters said he seems to have modelled his batting on misbah

Iftikhar is a biggest under achiever in the current team, got plenty of opportunities but rarely played match winning innings. In fact these kind of players looses more matches and performs once in blue moon. Quetta lost today's match because of his selfish knock. He shouldn't play any form of cricket anymore,

It's funny how he's modelled his technique, approach and mindset to how his buddy Misbah used to bat for Pakistan.

Misbah has taught him all the tricks you need to do to retain your spot.
 
One thing I have established is that his ceiling all around the world is a 30 ball 50. It could be the flattest track in the world or a tough situation, the most he will do is a 30 ball 50

He will get picked up in one of the Abu Dhabi T10 or T20 leagues.

If Sri Lanka league happens he will play.

Next BPL he is a shoe in.

There is a lot of cricket to be held between now and the next PSL. iftimania will carry him forward and make sure he is selected.

Don’t compare this guy to Misbah anymore. Misbah was honorable as a player on the field with his behavior. A complete non cringe guy. The push-up celebration was wholesome.

This dude Ifti is pure cringe with the shut up gesture. You just cost your team the game smart *** by doing Jack **** in the first 20 balls. Chasing 260, you absolutely cannot be meandering around for the first 20 deliveries. It’s hit or get lost.

Hardly figures where he should be telling people to keep quiet.

Ifti is really like a Chacha.

Most Chachas are well loved but still have a habit of arriving at the family home when you need a bit of peace and quiet.

Our international Chacha is the same.

The likes of Ifti, Asif Ali, Khushdil Shah are players who in previous eras would probably have been told to carry players bags and do throwdowns and that's it.

There is no reason to select Iftikhar for this series, in fact they should have rather tried Umar Akmal or Shohaib Maqsood to add some experience in the middle order

He did well pre PSL.

I still see him as an asset in white ball. I feel Moin Khan had some agenda against him. Did not allow him to bat at his preferred number or bowl enough overs.
 
PCB like to market KIA brand, so they need atleast one of the 3 in the team. Iftikhar probably was considered better than Khushdil and Asif Ali.

If PCB has included Ifti for his experience, then as an experienced player Ifti has been a disaster considering the number of opportunities he got in last 2 years, his PSL record is also pathetic, he has always failed on big occasions. I know the suggested replacements have also failed in the past but Umar had much better PSL recently and Maqsood didn't got enough opportunities. If there are other better options, go with them instead of Iftikhar

You would go with Maqsood who your not sure if he's fit enough or rusty over Iftikhar or Umar Akmal ?

He is a Misbah clone with added age fudging. Not only does he bat like him but also appears to have the same undesirable traits to match his friend as well.

It's a disease that has crept into almost all our batsmen. And it's not on the batsmen but on the management that such selfish knocks are not called out.

For example, Rizwan and Iftikhar should've gotten a severe dressing down for how they played the Asia Cup final. Personally, I do not think Iftikhar should have been selected after that innings - you basically cost your country a big tournament because you put self interest ahead of the team's interest.

But again, if such innings go unchecked, we'll keep seeing them.
 
Ifti is a must for our fragile middle order.

He can build partnerships and can change gear which is so needed.

We don't call him chacha for nothing . Looking at his nasolabial folds , he looks like someone at least in mid 40s .
 
Well he is in the T20I squad vs NZ.

Some would say a younger player should have been there but Pakistan looking for good results it seems.

He’s still picked because there’s a real dearth of aggressive middle order bats in Pakistan cricket. Thereby he gets picked out of necessity, rather than choice.

It’s why people were so happy when Azam did well in the PSL, because you finally had an alternative in the middle order. But after Sharjah, we’re back to Ifti.

We keep hearing this but he keeps getting picked and doing very little.
 
His reflexes have been gone for quite some time. His dismissal was another example of this. Needs to be discarded so he can be put out of his misery.

What an innings this guy played. Marvelous innings. Probably the best i have seen from him.

This guy is a must in the odi and t20 team. He is one fine striker and better than asif and khushdil.

Ufff, it looked like as if he was gonna get every boundary, if only that ball had cleared the ropes, if onlyy....
 
You can almost mistake him for Misbah with the way he strikes the ball, also bottled it in the last over like Misbah.

Exactly - this was a pure Misbah type innings. Lead to ultimate failure
 
This game reminded me of the 2007 WT20 final. Pakistan looked buried until a late run of sixes gave fans false hope.

Did people really believe Misbah 2.0 was going to win it for Pakistan at the end? :)))

This Misbah clone was always going to choke just like his friend did in the 2007 WT20 final but fans don't want to learn.

Misbah and his clone will never be built for getting their team over the line when it's all down to them to finish it off.

Been saying for so long that Iftikhar is a number 4 batsman and should not be touched from there in white-ball cricket.

But there are 3 scams that have been perpetuated in Pakistan:

1) Fakhar
2) Shadab
3) Imad

These 3 are the biggest scams that continue to keep Pakistan team hostage and they go unchallenged.

Also when everybody here was celebrating Shaheen's batting in the PSL, I was the only one who repeatedly said that Shaheen thinking of himself as an all-rounder is going to be the greatest blunder ever and will cost Pakistan dearly. This project needs to be shelved right now and Shaheen needs to focus on bowling and bowling alone. His bowling in this series has been extremely below par.

Exactly what I was thinking throughout the game. When it came down to the last over, I knew the game was lost because Misbah and his clone aren't built for it.
 
My God he was good!!! Some of the cleanest hitting I have ever seen. It’s a shame he didn’t get that last shot, but nevertheless, that was breathtaking!
 
Nonetheless, you would want him in the middle-order in the World Cup. Pakistan does not have better alternatives.

You can’t seriously vouch for Shadab, Imad, Nawaz, Khushdil, Azam and Asif Ali to bat ahead of this guy. He is clearly better than all of them.
