The Big Bash League 2025–26 draft showcased Pakistan’s growing influence in franchise cricket, with seven players picked across different teams. From platinum selections to seasoned campaigners, this strong contingent reflects the rising demand for Pakistan’s talent in Australia’s premier T20 competition.

Shaheen Shah Afridi – Brisbane Heat (Platinum Pick)

Haris Rauf – Melbourne Stars (Retention Pick)

Mohammad Rizwan – Melbourne Renegades (Platinum Pick)

Babar Azam – Sydney Sixers (Pre-signing)

Shadab Khan – Sydney Thunder
The leg-spinning all-rounder marks his fourth BBL team.

Hasan Ali – Adelaide Strikers (Round 3)

Hassan Khan – Melbourne Renegades

Hassan Khan is not really a Pakistani player now, more like a US player.
Will be curious to see how Shadab does post surgery.

BBL this year is like a main event , too much star power rather as Aaron Finch mentioned Global Stars 🌟

Shaheen Shah Afridi is trash in short format and when ball doesn't swing.. wonder why Bigbash even signed all these finished pakistani like Babar Azam, Rizwan and Shaheen etc

:kp

The immense hype of Babar, Rizwan and Shaheen as platinum overseas picks…

Babar 2 off 5

Rizwan 4 off 10

Shaheen 43 runs in 2.4 overs

What a Zalalat!

Not PSL superstars,

These guys are Saya Propaganda superstars.
Yeah fair enough. But even Hassan Nawaz of late has not looked that convincing in the ILT20, except for the last match.

Lots of upskilling needed in Pakistan cricket.

What happened to that "Strike Force" thing ?

Ball of the century

Even Kohli won’t be able to handle this type of delivery
Now, I get it that its a 11 overs a side game which makes it very difficult for someone like Babar to succeed...

But even if you have to strike from the first ball, at least try to do what you know! The world knows that Babar is a touch player - power hitting does not come naturally to him. Give yourself some room and try to use the pace of the ball, or shuffle across and try to hook/pull it fine...

This shot just confirms the fact that he has forgotten his strengths and his approach is totally muddled. Someone from the outside needs to help him out, and fast! He's in a difficult space where his thinking is shot and only an outsider can show him what he's doing wrong.

Moronic as people think RizBar SSA forced Aussies to sign them for BBL , may be they are hurt that the authorities didn't looked for their blue eyed tullers

You have to take the good with the bad. They chose to hype it, all their fans jumped on the hype, they put themselves in that position, so they’ve got to be able to take it.

Grow a thicker skin bro

They didn't hyped Australian media hyped it , ex Aussie players hyped it , maybe they have more belief in them than a certain segment of Pakistan cricket fans

It's their only chance. Not every game Shaheen is gonna bowl beamers and Babar getting out on 2
As much as I criticise RizBar, (those two are too easy now - predictably poor), I expected a lot more for Shaheen. He made all these statements about “Aussie pitches” helping him, and he doesn’t even land it on the pitch! (Hardly anyway)

The Aussies have been great cricketers, but they’ve also shown they have a price.

McGrath, Warne, Gilly etc were very quick to ditch international cricket for IPL - they could have all played a little longer.

I’m not saying it’s necessarily a bad thing, everyone’s gotta hype something that they have a stake in, but let’s not then use the “how dO yOu kNoW bEtTeR tHaN aUSsiE pLaYeRs”

What a crybaby!

I’ll do you the favour by quoting all your posts here in a bit. They were quite similar to your posts about Rizwan captaining and winning the CT for Pakistan.

I don't know what exactly happened to him but there was a cold breeze going on and Shaheen was struggling with his fingers keep it warm, blowing it. Even a Kiwi player mentioned how cold it was feeling.

Even in the 2nd over he bowled a ridiculous wide down the off side to a left hander. Before his (now) infamous 3rd over, where he bowled beamers.

That's that. But I do know Shaheen will comeback and it's a one off thing. He has bowled in Australia before and had some success with white ball.

Always have a good omen, don't want to take it on that side , but it's advised in our religion as well :rizwan

What a hilariously poor start from our players in the BBL. They'll never trust select Pakistani's again lol.

Worse start from all three top guys in BBL... Hopefully they will find thier feet in next games.

Why the sudden interest in Pakistani players in this particular BBL edition?

Hopefully Shady finds his bowling mojo, his batting has been good for a while, he gives some semblance of stability to the Pak lineup.

He is the perfect replacement for Agha, him and Nawaz strengthen our middle/lower order, King sahab needs to be replaced by a pure batter.
Agha unfortunately is not going anywhere as he is captain, so King sahab has to make way for Shadab.

It’s still a rubbish batting line-up but atleast we will have a chance.

Babar Azam with a better outing than the previous game today. He managed to play off the new ball by facing 10 balls and scoring handy runs.

Looks like Babar has found his feet. @BouncerGuy
Give him time yaaaar, don’t “wrist-slit so soon”, the rest of the squad “is not ready” to take his place. “Name me one better player than Babar in this squad”.

Saya Corps has made Babar, Shaheen, and Rizwan go out of their comfort zone. Surely they could have played ILT20 in familiar conditions and just cash cheques but now they have to really perform to remain relevant.

This could be a good thing as it shows that the management of that company is trying to make these people realize that you need to do something to protect your star status as social media campaigns aren't cutting it anymore. This is good thinking but let's see how that pans out.

Without being harsh on him,

What was he setting up to do? Play an ODI knock on this low bounce track in T20i?

Pakistan’s BBL signings - Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan, Haris Rauf and Hasan Ali - are expected to play the entire Big Bash League after assurances from the PCB. “We’ve been told that if they’ve been signed by the BBL, they’ll play the whole BBL,” CA CEO Todd Greenberg said

No. It’s not that simple.

ILT20 only has one franchise willing to invest in Pakistan players due to the other 5 owners being Indian/IPL owners

The one team (Desert Vipers) head coach Tom Moody seems a bit more of a direct approach guy, like Watson or Dean Jones. He must have indicated to them that they are not keen on Babar and Rizwan type players for their top order…

They did have Shaheen with them last year. The issue here is the auction. I think the highest base price you could place is $80k (I’m not sure about this), and DV get any Pakistani player on base price because no other team will bid for them.

So if you match whatever Shaheen is making at Brisbane, it’s most likely way more than the $80k he would make playing for DV.

After dishing out these kind of performances, don’t think their teams would want them to

Could this BBL have started more poorly for the Pak contingent? Apart from Shadab, everyone had flopped big time! It’s embarrassing

Whatever it was. That was soft dismissal and he has been getting out to that short mid wicket region for 4 years now regularly. This means he has not improved his game.
