Big Bash League 2025/26 - Discussion Thread [From December 14, 2025 to January 25, 2026]

Saim Ayub is complete trash. Averages 20 after heaps of Games. Almost 60.. No one else is given that much chances. 20 Average as opener is diabolical. in all those 50 plus games he has 5 fifties.. like performance with bat in 10th game
But he performed in australia on bouncy pitches, won us the series

I’m telling you these two ullu ke pathay still have their malicious eyes set on the opening spots for the World Cup side!
You should be watching Ghani vs sahir game buddy. Thats more interesting

Let me remind you all,

Cooper Connolly and Lhuan Dre Pretorious were part of the PSL Draft last year,

No team picked them!

Instead we had crap players like Babar and Rizwan in platinum category.

Sahibzada Farhan had to be picked as a replacement or reserved pick. He wasn’t picked up in the draft either!

Yeh tou Aap logo ka haal hai! This is the level of backwas that goes on in the PSL scouting system!

BBL has indeed received a big boost because of Babar’s presence. The Aussies have high regards for Babar and expectations.

I appreciate this is not easy for you to swallow.

Your glazing is so cringe. This is Big Bash League not Bacha Bazi League.

It’s quite disappointing that the genuine intentions and efforts of your ideal, Salman Agha, have not been widely appreciated. I completely understand the frustration that can arise from such situations.

We all know how dedicated Salman is and how much he can contribute. It’s essential that BBL supports him and acknowledges the hard work and good intentions behind his every effort.

Get your facts right. We know your idea of "BBL" has messed with your head but Agha has never been my "ideal".

I like Salman Agha but it's not working. He's done well in ODIs, particularly in the SC, but in T20Is, Pakistan have better options.

Shaheen should be promoted to white ball captain.

Spot on r.e. Shaheen for skipper or someone that merits a place, i still hope Salman can lift his performance

On 1 game?

Bhai, have some deal of pragmatism, this hyperbole is as daft as those that sign kumbayah after 1 good performance.

He is certaonly not an opener for t10!!
He’s not a t10 opener but he’s a T20 opener??

Well, this was just the first outing. Babar fans have a valid excuse as of now. However, if became a trend in AU where bounce is consistent, Babar will be a history (he should already be, but his name still sells). It will be proven that besides his regressing skills on uneven pitches, he won't be able to handle any spicy pitch.

He can't open, that is a given as I stated in my post yesterday. Unless he comes down the order, he might have a really bad tournament. The exposure of his decline will be obvious for EVERYONE - whether one is his fan or not.

He will be exposed in these conditions regardless of where he bats. This was literal suicide by Babar, @Rana I think he might get dropped half-way through the tournament and the furore will put a lot of pressure on the selectors and team management.

Specially if his replacement does well in the Sri Lanka series.

Yeah, the spectator outcry is only getting louder; Babar and his fans have their ears muffled. The difference is: Babar is milking the opportunities while he can sell his name, while his fans are losing their sleep over it 😀

EVen for you, that is some stretch....

NO, he is not a t20 opener... should be down the order but i have no horse in the race like yourself in the hate babar camp and others in the love babar camp.

Sydney Thunder Captain David Warner to miss KFC BBL|15 season opener

Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Thunder have announced their squads for their first match of BBL|15

Sydney Thunder will be without their captain David Warner for their KFC BBL|15 season opener against Hobart Hurricanes on Tuesday night.

The veteran batter has been ruled out of the grand final rematch at Ninja Stadium after reportedly injuring his right side while playing with his children at the beach.

Warner, 39, has been receiving treatment in the days since and is hopeful of recovering in time for Saturday night's blockbuster home Sydney Smash against the Sixers.

Hurricanes squad v Thunder: Rehan Ahmed (England), Nikhil Chaudhary, Tim David, Nathan Ellis (c), Rishad Hossain (Bangladesh), Chris Jordan (England), Ben McDermott, Riley Meredith, Mitch Owen, Will Prestwidge, Billy Stanlake, Matthew Wade, Tim Ward, Mac Wright

Thunder squad v Hurricanes: Chris Green (c), Charlie Anderson, Cameron Bancroft, Sam Billings (England), Ollie Davies, Matt Gilkes, Ryan Hadley, Shadab Khan (Pakistan), Sam Konstas, Nathan McAndrew, Blake Nikitaras, Daniel Sams, Tanveer Sangha, Reece Topley (England)

Chirs Green will captain the Thunder in Warner's absence with young fast bowler Charlie Anderson brought into the squad as a replacement player.

Test level players, can only block in australia not score.
It's the bounce. Always has been. I don't know why they have been unable to adjust after playing for so long now. You should have certain drills and a slight technique change where you change your habit to adjust for extra bounce.

had to take some work calls, any reasons Shaheen is only one over so far?

Rizwan innings seems very poor. Did the commentators say much?

Looks like BBL have picked pakistani players based on reputation only. Everyone knows Babar and Rizwan are decling and they have become liabilities for their respective teams..they will play some good innings here and there in low scoring matches but they are not the worth to pick as potential match winners.. they should have picked Sahibzada Farhaan or Saim Ayoub.. Sahibzada is the best batsman of pakistan depsite his dot balls problems and Saim Ayoub is the number 1 ranked all-rounder in T20.. even that unurthodox spinner Usman Tariq could have been better option than these ..

Top 3 big players of pakistan getting exposed in BBL. BBL teams made big mistake picking these washed and almost expired players in T20. They are good only for ODIs.

Chasing above 190 is near impossible at Geelong. Seifert and Peake took them well above par.
Heat didnt do too bad actually. Got to 198 and only lost by 14.

So two venues so far and both have been proven to be belters. Whilst Pakistan's "top" batters have been useless on them?

Not sure about Optus stadium but this was definitely a belter and 4(10) is a dogshi* innings on this pitch.

Off all the first game failures, Shaheen has the most upside in this tournament. I have not much from legside hack/sweep-master Rizwan, and declining Babar.
If Babar/Rizwan have a little bit of dignity left in them after failures, they should concentrate on longer versions of the game.

Leg side hacks will be exposed on Australian grounds with long boundaries. It’s very difficult to survive on flukes there.
Either you have solid technique to score runs or timing with muscular power like Tim David or Stoinis, otherwise, this tournament will be hell for subcontinent batsmen.

On most AU wickets, one can't just go for glory shots. These glory hunters will need to play proper cricket - set the timing right and find gaps. Babar had that skill, but his priorities were different. Rizwan never had that skill. Shaheen will soon find the length to bowl at. He is used to of bowling fuller length which cannot be done as often in AU.

Zimbu especially signed to Sydney because then he will get 4-5 home games on their low bounce deck,

He will score a 50 or 2 and then his fans will tell us…

“Only players of the quality of Babar and Rizwan can score runs in Australia”

This Henry Thornton guy has action similar to Tait and Cummins. Getting the ball to shape away also at 140 clicks.

Huge hit from Phillipe. His batting has a bit of Steve Smith. I think he should be next in line to be white ball WK for Australia

McSweeny is a mediocre captain. Bowling off spin to Finn Allen with short legside boundary. Spinner got tonked for 3 sixes

Looks like Brisbane Heat have sworn revenge against Brody Couch for embarrassing king!

Brilliant stuff from Brisbane Heat batters...

Hundred for both Renshaw and Wildermuth
