[VIDEOS/PICTURES] Muhammad Musa Khan - First impressions in international cricket

The selectors have also named four reserves in Bilal Asif, Imran Butt, Musa Khan and Mohammad Nawaz as a cover in case any of the players fail pre-tour Covid-19 testing, which will be carried out on 20 and 25 June.

Based on this info, Musa stands a chance of making the squad due to Haris Rauf, Shadab Khan and Haider Ali testing positive for Covid-19.

Good opportunity for the young lad to make a name for himself
He's definitely got the pace

Mohammad Musa to be released from Pakistan squad on 14th August, Shoaib Malik to arrive in Southampton on 15th August

Musa was a ridiculous selection. So you keep a 5’7 pace bowler for the Tests, then send him home for the T20’s.

What a joke Misbah is.

Are we going to fill the future team with seniors? Ridicilous.

20-years of age today - Does he have a future for Pakistan?

He has a future, in a few ways.

The first is as bench strength for limited overs. It’s not bad having a consistently 140-145 kph bowler on your bench in case one of your first XI is injured, which is often the case for fast bowlers. He will definitely need to improve his repertoire though - better yorkers and bouncers in particular are needed. A good slower one will also go a long way.

Secondly, regardless of ever he gets to that level where he can get to our first XI, he will be excellent in increasing the level of competition in domestic cricket, from PSL to First Class. Our younger batsmen should consistently have practice against faster bowlers even when our first string attack is on international duty. Musa will have a long career with Islamabad United and can serve us well in domestics.

The last way he makes a case for himself is if he improves his batting. He can connect a shot or two and can even absorb a little bit of pressure:

It will be a lot of work, but if he puts in the hard yards with a batting coach, he can function as a decent bowling all-rounder. I have said the same for Hasan Ali. If he can do this, that utility will go a long way.

Mohammad Wasim on Musa's non selection for the T20I series vs SA

"Mohammad Musa has been with the side for a while but we feel that he needs more time to develop and perform well in domestic cricket, he can then make a comeback based on that"

should have been dropped after the zim series so that he could have played the domestic season.

Musa Khan needs to develop his release. He has the problem of a confused seam which doesn't allow any consistent movement. As a small guy he will never get bounce,so movement or fade are the only 2 options

Musa should continue to play club cricket where he belongs. Still a mystery why was a picked by Misbah.

I don't think this lad is international standard yet in any format.

He's been rushed into international cricket for some reason, as if he is the real deal, but he has a lot of work yet to do on his action, other technical aspects of his bowling.

He is nowhere near ready for the international stage.

This for me was the greatest sin from Misbah. Picking Musa Khan, a rubbish domestic youngster, to play a TEST in AUSTRALIA of ALL PLACES. That tour was such a meme tour, pretty much the worst tour I've ever seen, worse than any other Australia tour. And I still get PTSD about it.

If he performs like this for 2 seasons straight then a case can be made for bringing him back into the longer format team.

It was absolute madness to select a kid based on his T20 performances at Islamabad United. Sheer madness from Misbah and waqar

Let me repeat this again.
