Rahat Ali

Have no idea who the emerging players are so I didn't include them in the XI.

Once again they are not willing to invest in batsmen. I wonder why

Good bowling attack. Not very good batting line. But overall should do well.

Some old legs in there which may be a problem.

Most bases covered but a lot depends on their 'elder statesmen'

Darren Sammy and Kamran Akmal are literally finished yet they are still selected.

Excited to see young pacer Amir Khan and spinner Amir Ali.

Decent squad. If Kamran Akmal is in form they're always going to be a threat. Very reliant on their seniors though.

Decent squad they have a balanced team some very good power hitters a decent middle order batter in malik and lower order hitter pollar

Kamran akmal
Bantom
Amin
Malik
Mohsin
Pollard
Sammy
Dawson
Hassan ali
Wahab
Amir ali

An okay squad alot of experience in the squad

Zalmi will bank on a settled unit with good T20 additions. Maliki inclusion in Pakistani conditions will pay huge dividends. Him along with the model town brigade and West Indian powerhouse along with English And home grown m youth is a great mix. Zalmi under Akram have always played like a professional and inspiring unit. All in all it will depend how they adapt worth their bowling and how they utilise the the players at hand.

Banton x
Kami wk
Imam
Malik
Pollard x
Dawson x
Sammy x
Wahab
Hassan
Rahat
Amir Khan

I think Sammy should not play until he is 100%. It's a joke seeing him coming in to bat and limping. Pollard to take them forward. Not retaining Jordan is a big blunder

Decent squad. Looking forward to watch Adil Amin, Mohsin, Pretorius and Banton. Mohammad Mohsin is the next big thing. We are set to snatch another PSL trophy.

Banton/Livingstone
Haider
Kami
Umar Amin
Malik
Pollard
Sammy
Dawson
Wahab
Hasan
Rahat.
A good team but lacks a good fifth bowler.

That is some serious batting. Haider Ali is the pick of the match. I hope he is given a proper chance in the PSL this season.

Gregory/Brathwaite/ Dawson
Sammy (C)
Mohammad Mohsin
Hasan Ali
Wahab Riaz
Rahat Ali/ Aamir Khan

Considering the progress Haider has shown in recent times, he deserves oppurtunity.

If PZ wants more batting depth than one of overseas batsmen can make way for Umer Amin and Brathwaite can play as the third seamer over Rahat Ali and can bat at no 8 while Dawson or Gregory at no 6.

Kamran Akmal speaking to the media:

"We will try to play with unity as in previous seasons. The tournament is important for all the players and teams. It's a great source of happiness that the full PSL is in Pakistan. I am hopeful that the crowds will enjoy the PSL matches as they did in previous seasons.

"I am focused on performing well for my team PZ. Players like Wahab, Sammy, Hasan Ali have all performed and it's important to continue that. We have done hard work and played domestic cricket and we'll try to focus on our performances.

"Youngsters need to be given confidence. It's good that they get exposure to some of the international pressure in the league. They can go to domestic after that and perform well also.

"We are focused on our game and on our preparations. We have prepared well for PSL. We had some time to rest before PSL so we trained hard and worked on our skills.

"We have Hashim Amla in the dressing room, we had Younis bhai and Misbah before. That was very beneficial for us as a batting unit.

"We have a good combination. The fans will enjoy the matches, we will see high scores, pitches have always been good for PSL games.

"My goal is to perform well and to think about the team. I am not focused on becoming the highest scorer or breaking Colin Ingram's record. My team supports me so I want to ensure I help in their victory. Whether I make 10 or 20, it should be beneficial for the team. I will focus on my team.

"I never thought about myself personally, I always thought about the team I am playing for and doing well for it."

In UBL Sports Complex, Islamabad United batted first and set a target of 195 for Peshawar Zalmi with the loss of 9 wickets. Imad Butt was the top scorer with 44 runs. Liam Dawson was able to take 3 wickets. From Peshawar Zalmi Liam Dawson scored 39, Kamran Akmal and Livingstone did 22 each. Peshawar Zalmi were all out for 139 runs. Shadab Khan and Hussian Talat took 3 wickets each.

After the practice match, Kamran Akmal in his discussion with the media expressed that the matches were not a great opportunity for the players to practice but also helped in assessing the form of players especially the foreign players. The bowlers also took advantage of the opportunity at hand and showed their talent as well.

PZ media session:

Hasan: "I am completely fit, I have mentioned that I am completely available for Peshawar Zalmi."

Imam: "Peshawar Zalmi supported me last year and thanks to God my performances were good. I always try perform well for PZ or Pakistan. Ups and downs are a part of cricket. I always keep my intensity high."

Wahab: "Whoever plays cricket goes through ups and downs. I don't get scared, I take everything as a challenge. Until I have life in me and the junoon to play for Pakistan, I will make comebacks and perform when I get a chance.

"It's good to be the leading wicket-taker, but it brings pressure too. It gives you responsibility as well. I will try to work even harder and take more wickets and take my team win."

Malik: "I have no interest in captaincy. If someone comes to me for advice, it's my responsibility to help him but I have no intention to be captain anywhere. If you look at my T20 record as a captain, my win percentage is the highest of all captains."

Wahab: "Pakistan is getting new bowlers so there's nothing better than that. There's a lot of youngsters coming through and they will help Pakistan.

"Regarding my stats, in the last 2 years I am overall on #2 in T20 competitions all over the world. If I have performed well then I don't think I should be worried about what I can do here in this PSL. Of course I have goals and wish to perform well but just in case I don't perform well in this tournament, it doesn't mean I am very bad.

"Every player wishes to play the World Cup. I have done well in the past and insha'Allah in future as well. I am prepared and I'll try to perform well in PSL to make a comeback."

Dawson: "Playing in the PSL is an unbelievable experience. A lot of the pacers bowl over 140kph so seam bowling has definitely helped me. There's also a lot of good batsman against spin also."

Haider: "This is my first opportunity after U19 and my first year with PZ. I will try to give my 100% because PZ trusted me so this is an opportunity for me. I will try to do well for my team and help us to win matches."

Amir Khan: "PSL is a big platform for youngsters. I will try to do well for PZ and give performances."

Livingstone: "It's nice to join a new franchise. I enjoyed my time with KK last year. It was great to come and experience Pakistan at the end of tournament, it's great to bring the tournament back here in Pakistan."

Dawson: "PSL is an extremely strong competition, it's probably up there with the top 2 in the world, specially from a seam bowling point of view. It's great to be involved in it."

Hashim Amla:

Lovely to be here in Pakistan. Certainly a great honor to be with the Peshawar Zalmi team. Alhamdulillah it's good be here.

Fortunate to have a couple of years experience in international cricket. To share the experience is the biggest thing. It'll be a great time to spend with the youngsters.

Two years ago I played some T20s here in Pakistan with the World XI team. We're coming back after 2 years and I can see how things have just got better and better. We haven't had any issues and it's been fantastic to see how cricket is progressing, it's lovely to see the other internationals here too.

The problem is i dont think Haider is emerging although he should be and there fore would play all games but if he isnt then i doubt he might even get a game

Aamir Ali and Amir Khan are emerging but regardless MoAkram rates Haider highly so wouldn't be surprised if he gets a game at 3 --- likely to have Kamran and Banton opening all games

Haider Ali is in emerging category. Just because someone has been picked as a supplementary pick doesnt change his draft category. So if Haider plays he will be counted as emerging player.

If amla is the batting coach then I am defo disappointed with him should have helped haider before going out to bat

I doubt he told him to make room and hack at the ball.

It's probably nerves, I'm sure he'll put up a better display in the next game.

Hasan Ali didn't fare well today, but it was his first game back in fairness. Peshawar need him to perform like last season.
