[VIDEOS/PICTURES] The sorry state of Pakistan sports journalism

Babar Azam's jibe on journalists who wrongfully use his name for creating hypes:

"Some people use my name for creating hypes. So I say, well if they do get happy from my name and if it helps them in earning their bread and butter then no worries. Let it be so"
The only provider of bread and butter is Allah. Not you Babar Azam!

Secondly, what sort of bread and butter to people like Simon Doull earn on his name by giving honest criticism?

You can't see Babar's eyes but you can tell he's about to cry.

Babar ain’t got a clue what Doull is explaining to him.

He must have just replied by saying “sixes not my game dolly”

"Misbah bhai said to me very low risk batting"

Bruv imagine sitting in Pakistan and saying live on national TV, “who asks for these kinds of wickets? Is it Babar Azam to make his stats look good?” :ROFLMAO:

Zindabad Simon Doull!

Bringing Babar into a thread that is totally irrelevant is not good. Please stay on topic

According to one Pakistani journalist, “Gerry Christian white ball coach and Glesspie Payen red ball coach”.

Either he did it for more interactions or he’s a special needs.

Is it essential to take a confrontational approach?

I have blocked 2 Pakistani journalists. They are clear paid agenda journos, not independent or impartial at all!

One works for Dawn News and the other has a DP or cover photo with Imran Khan

Both constantly beat the pro RizBar drum

A recent report went viral on all media platforms where Gary Kirsten, Pakistan's white ball coach was quoted as saying that there is great factionalism in Pakistan team and that is impeding their progress.

But Gary Kirsten has denied any such conversation claiming to be false and concocted ones.

not sure whether this chat is authentic or not!

It's not just Pakistani journalists, I've seen Indian journos too who make total fools of themselves at pressers.

Sadly some are too eager to ask questions and it backfires.
Everyone is doing for social media impressions. There is no aunthenticity, professionalism. 90% of them are agenda driven.

Given the amount of money in Indian Cricket and the disparity in earnings b/w Indian and Pakistani Cricketers in the last 2 decades especially since the IPL took off, you will see a lot of current and ex Indian cricketers mock and misbehave with Pakistani players.

Its like how an upper elite class individual misbehaves and mistreats a servant.

This is how Pakistan's cricket journalism has sunk to its lowest point.

and rightly being made fun of on Social media.

Dear Sethi Sahib,

It is shocking to hear from you that some journalists visited the USA and Australia on PCB expenses, and a couple of them are reportedly slipped away. As one of the most senior journalists and a former PCB chairman, you should have mentioned their names to substantiate your news. Otherwise, it is being perceived as fake news to criticize the PCB.

I was in the USA with several other journalists who, to the best of my knowledge, went at their own expense and have all returned. Such unsubstantiated allegations from you have caused harm to the journalistic community. You should now provide the names and evidence of these journalists or refrain from making such statements against them. Otherwise, it will be assumed that your other news and statements are also baseless.

Looking forward to your response,

Aqeel Ahmad
President, SJAL

What sort of Journalist ethics is this?

A journalist asked Shan Masood whether he would step down from his captaincy on his own or will leave the decision for PCB and he replied with following remarks:

"You have your opinion and I respect that but there is a lot of disrespect in your question,"

"You can't show disrespect to players, me and the others. We all play for Pakistan and get results but no one will tolerate such disrespect. You have to understand that. You want to put someone down fine but we all are Pakistan players."

Such pathetic journalists. A manager should accompany players to handle such ridiculous and disrespectful questions.

Nice to see Shan put that ignorant fool in his place. Seen these local journos get away with this kind of blatant disrespect in pressers for far too long.

Watched some local sports shows and news this week due to CT, and journalists also trying to prove their point usually question about Player A and they answer about Player B.

Similarly ex cricketers doing vlogs and reels to settle their score

Always heartwarming when 'big' Pakistan cricket journalists steel our content; don't give us credit for making the content, and even remove our logo and then get caught out.

Pakistan TV Airs Fake T20 World Cup Video. BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla's Stern Response

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president Rajeev Shukla took to social media to clear the air over an AI-altered video attributed to him. Controversy erupted after a Pakistani cricket show, hosted by former skipper Shoaib Malik, broadcast an edited video of Shukla speaking about the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026 clash. The show, which aired on ARY News, featured the clip as Shukla's reaction to Pakistan's U-turn on playing against India in Colombo on Sunday. However, he made it clear that the video was manipulated using AI and urged everyone not to believe such misleading content.

"A video of my remarks on the India-Pakistan World Cup match has been manipulated using AI to alter the audio. These statements are not mine. I urge everyone not to believe or circulate this misleading content and to report it wherever such videos are seen," he wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).

A video of my remarks on the India Pakistan World Cup match has been manipulated using AI to alter the audio. These statements are not mine. I urge everyone not to believe or circulate this misleading content and to report it wherever such videos are seen.

— Rajeev Shukla (@ShuklaRajiv) February 11, 2026

The edited video provided a false narrative on the Pakistan-ICC standoff over the T20 World Cup match. Pakistan announced that they will boycott the match as a show of support for Bangladesh but following negotiations with the global cricket body, they made a dramatic U-turn on their decision.

"I am delighted to see the outcome of the deliberations initiated by the ICC representative on the repeated request by the BCCI to convince Pakistan to play against India. It is a good and amicable solution which has been found to give priority to cricket. This is what has been done," Rajeev Shukla can be heard as saying in the morphed video which aired on ARY News.

Shukla's original remarks had a different tone.

While speaking to reporters on Tuesday, he lauded the International Cricket Council (ICC) for "finding an amicable solution" that made sure the India-Pakistan T20 World Cup match will go ahead as per schedule after the latter decided to reverse its earlier decision to boycott the game.

"I am delighted to see the outcome of the deliberations initiated by the ICC representative, supervised by the ICC chairman, and then the representatives who had gone to Lahore to talk to the Pakistan Cricket Board as well as the Bangladesh Cricket Board. It's a good solution, an amicable solution which has been found to give priority to the importance of cricket to the game," he told reporters

What kind of question was that... Why??? Journos should think about asking such stuff. Why bring religion everywhere?

Perfect reply from Salman... Nice

[Reporter:]

Since Ramzan is ongoing, I know you don't have much on your plate. So, which players are praying and fasting, that perhaps some results come in Pakistan's favour?

[Salman Mirza:]

Sir, it's Ramzan month. Even if there are no matches, everyone is fasting and praying namaz, I think it has nothing to do with cricket.
