PDM ACTIVISTS ENTER ISLAMABAD’S RED ZONE

The workers of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) entered in Islamabad’s red zone despite imposition of Section 144 in the federal capital, ARY News reported on Monday.

According to the details, a large number of PDM workers entered the Islamabad’s red zone by foot as well as in Trucks. The capital police failed to stop the PDM workers to enter the red zone.

Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) was set to observe a sit-in outside Supreme Court in Islamabad today, but sources claimed that the Maulana Fazlur Rehman agreed to stage the sit-in at D-chowk.

Due to the protest the internet services and social media are likely to get suspended.

Despite the imposition of Section 144 in the capital city, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) leadership gave a sit-in call against the judiciary for giving ‘extraordinary relief’ to PTI chairman Imran Khan in several cases.

The rallies of the coalition government parties including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F), and Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) on their way to participate in the protest.

A day earlier, Federal Minister Ishaq Dar and Rana Sanaullah met Maulana Fazlur Rehman today and appealed to not stage a protest outside the Supreme Court (SC).

However, the JUI-F supremo Maulana Fazlur Rehman has rejected the federal government’s request to change the venue.

JUI-F workers enter Islamabad’s Red Zone

Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) protesters have reached the Supreme Court to protest against the judiciary allegedly favouring PTI chief Imran Khan.

Footage broadcast on TV showed Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) workers breaching the gate of the Red Zone as police watched on. As soon as the gates opened, thousands of PDM workers rushed inside, DawnNewsTV reported.

Good one

Let's now scare the judiciary but wait - this has happened before also

Hypocrisy being led by fake molvi's, how ironic.

Munafiqs are the worst amongst the people yet we see them everywhere either that be governments or even this forum.

Boys, say what you want. But PML-N is still the most popular political party of Pakistan.

And you should do what your conscience says but look at what they are upto and where they are leading the nation.

As you have said before, the whole thing could be sorted by elections.

Boys, say what you want. But PML-N is still the most popular political party of Pakistan.

Me and my family here will continue to vote and support our Shers.

They are not. They once held Lahore and Punjab and now they have lost that. PMLN has been tarnished quite alot, and only surviving due to its business links.

PPP will most probably move to second now.

Even if PMLN is somewhat popular, its leaders have 0 influence on decisions as they are not part of the establishment group

PDM’s protest being converted into sit-in, JUI-F announces

The PDM has begun to convert their announced protest outside the Supreme Court into a sit-in, the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has said.

In a tweet, the JUI-F said, “The management committee has finalised arrangements for the protest-sit-in outside the Supreme Court [in] Islamabad. The management committee has begun arrangements for converting the protest into a sit-in.”

Let them do what they want. When the plan was to ban the PTI for terrorism, this will make interesting Copy later. Fake Hafiz, Fake Maulvi and their helpers have helped IK today.

Yes - let's stay there until we can change the decision of the sitting court - The Sharifs continue to plunder the land.

Duration of JUI-F sit-in still undisclosed, says Sanaullah

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has said that the PDM chief has not revealed how long the sit-in outside the Supreme Court will last, but the government has requested that it be kept brief.

Talking to reporters in Islamabad, Sanaullah stated that Imran’s arrest is contingent upon the decisions concerning the bail applications he has submitted.

Maryam Nawaz demands CJP Bandial’s resignation

PML-N chief organiser Maryam Nawaz addresses a protest gathering outside the Supreme Court in Islamabad on Monday. — DawnNewsTV
PML-N chief organiser Maryam Nawaz has demanded Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial’s resignation.

She made the demand at a protest gathering outside the Supreme Court in Islamabad, maintaining that “free and fair elections are not possible until Umar Ata Bandial remains the country’s top judge”.

“The election will be held on its scheduled time after you step down,” she said, addressing the CJP.

Fazl accuses CJP of ‘misconduct of court’

PDM chief Fazlur Rehman has accused Chief Justice of Pakistan (SJP) Umar Ata Bandial of “misconduct of court”.

“You and your companions sitting on these seats … we won’t allow you to disrespect or abuse the nation or the Parliament,” he said while addressing supporters outside the Supreme Court in Islamabad.

“Read our history, we have always broken the chains of slavery and we can do the same today,” Fazl said. “I am challenging … CJP sahib, in this one month you have done misconduct of this court.”

RAWALPINDI/ISLAMABAD: Police continued to crack down on the PTI members and detained former provincial minister Fayyazul Hassan Chohan under the 3MPO and also shifted five party activists arrested on Sunday to Adiala Jail.

The police also conducted a raid on Lal Haveli to arrest PTI leader Sheikh Rashid Shafiq, but the arrest did not take place.

However, Mr Chohan was picked up by police when he was going to address a press conference at the press club in Rawalpindi. He was on bail till May 18 in another case, but the police detained him under 3 MPO and shifted him to Adiala jail. Another PTI activist was also arrested in the Ratta Amral area on Monday.

The five activists who were arrested by the police in connection with a protest in Westridge on Sunday were sent to jail. During the protest, they had asked motorists to protest the arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan. Police said that they carried party banners, shouted slogans and forcibly stopped cars and provoked people in the area to protest the detention of Mr Khan last week.

PTI criticises Islamabad police over PDM sit-in in Red Zone despite Section 144

Those who were arrested were Mohammad Zahid, Asghar Ali, Said Wali, Ahsan, and Sheikh Mohammad. All the arrested were shifted to Adiala jail after the registration of an FIR with the Westridge police.

Violation of Section 144

Meanwhile, the PTI criticised the violation of Section 144 in the capital and questioned the absence of the army and police when workers of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) entered the Red Zone to protest outside the Supreme Court.

In a statement, PTI Islamabad Region President Ali Nawaz Awan said that despite imposition of Section 144, the Islamabad police were facilitating the sit-in in front of the apex court. He said that according to Article 245 of the Constitution, the security of the Red Zone was entrusted to the Pakistan Army, but ironically the security personnel were seen nowhere.

Ali Awan, who is one of those few leaders who could not be arrested, went on to say that Islamabad police were busy only doing “homoeopathic tweets that the situation was still peaceful and under control”.

Another leader Dr Iftikhar Durrani claimed that the ‘London Plan’ entered its final phase, as the “tyrants imposed on the nation through conspiracy” decided to ban the PTI and imprison its Chairman Imran Khan.

In a video message on Monday, he revealed that the ruling elite has decided to ban the PTI and imprison Imran Khan as per the ‘London Plan’. “Entire nation witnessed the scenes of how the private militia men were facilitated to enter the Red Zone despite the imposition of Section 144 in the federal capital. Contrary to it, when PTI announced to sage a peaceful protest, Section 245 was imposed in Islamabad,” he said.

He said that police tortured even students and children who were supporting the PTI. However, he added that on Monday neither there was any flag march, nor any incident of violence.

Mr Durrani claimed that PTI’s peaceful protestors were welcomed with bullets and batons while the “armed private militia men” – a reference to JUI-F volunteers dressed in mustard – were welcomed with rose petals.

“Pakistan has been divided into two parts, one is ruled by the mafia, who has been provided with all facilitations… In the second Pakistan, innocent and peaceful protestors were tortured and women and children were kidnapped from their homes,” he claimed.

Where was this tweet when your supporters heckled, harassed Maryam Aurengzeb abroad?

I see so Maryam Aurengzeb was beaten up and dragged around London? Must have missed that.

The level of cruelty, abuse and violence PTI workers are facing is unmatched and unrivalled. There are sickening videos on Facebook where the police is brutalising Khan’s followers.

This kind of sight was not even see during Musharraf’s era. Sickening!

I see so Maryam Aurengzeb was beaten up and dragged around London? Must have missed that.

I don’t think anyone beats up and drags people for the sake of it unless they are mentally deranged.

In regards to these PTI female supporters, what did they do to be treated like this?

It doesn't matter who you support politically. The way PTI supporters are being treated is inhumane. The tweeted video above shows the disgusting treatment given out to them.

Nope.
They are being treated according to the law they themselves made.

Nothing illegal, they should had thought about this before

This too shall pass. People have long memories and won't forgive or forget. The fake Hafiz will move on and some ambitious Generals will come and these guys will then remember what they did. They will then apologise and someone like me will tell them to stick it where the sun don't shine

So once again

Another "illegal" arrest

==

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday declared Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman and former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi's arrest illegal as it issued orders for his release.

Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb heard the PTI leader's plea against his arrest under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order Act (3MPO).

The court declared the arrest null and void and instructed the concerned authorities to ensure his release after he signs an undertaking.

"Have a look at the undertaking submitted by [PTI leader] Ali Muhammad Khan yesterday," the judge told Qureshi's counsel, "you may submit one like that as well."

The lawyer responded that he will consult the ex-minister and submit the document accordingly.

Justice Aurangzeb had issued orders for the release of PTI leaders Maleeka Bokhari and Ali Muhammad Khan on Wednesday after it declared their arrest under 3MPO as illegal as well.

Despite relief from the courts, however, there appears to be no respite in the crackdown on PTI leaders.

After a local court ordered the release of the party’s female leaders Shireen Mazari and Senator Falak Naz arrested in a case registered at the federal capital's Tarnol police station, the former was rounded up again for a third time yesterday.

Separately, a PTI spokesperson claimed that party leader Maleeka Ali Bokhari had been arrested again after her release from Adiala Jail and taken to an undisclosed location.

Court releases Shehrayar Afridi’s wife

Separately, the IHC issued orders for the release of PTI leader Shehrayar Afridi’s wife Rabia Shehrayar.

Rabia had also been taken into custody under 3MPO and was presented before the court of IHC's Arbab Muhammad Tahir by the Islamabad police. IG Islamabad also appeared before the judge.

The IG informed the court that she had been taken into custody on reports that she and her husband had been involved in an attack on the military headquarters, the GHQ in Rawalpindi. He further said that she was arrested under provisions for maintenance of public order.

"She is a housewife," the judge exclaimed.

Upon this, the IG said the police respected women as well.

"They have no respect for court orders," Rabia's lawyer maintained.

"If an individual released by this court is arrested again, there will be serious consequences for that," remarked Justice Tahir warning IG Islamabad that the court would not take disobedience lightly.

"The issue is that in the previous government, we saw the same thing," the judge regretted.

IG Islamabad responded saying that "we have evidence against her having been involved in activities. Housewives are even capable of murdering their husbands, they can be involved in matters beyond domestic issues as well."

The court, however, did not appear to be convinced and ordered her release after signing an undertaking.

‘Reflects political vindictiveness’: HRCP condemns re-arrest of PTI leaders

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has condemned the re-arrest of PTI leaders who were earlier released by courts.

“This tactic has been used by previous governments, including the PTI, to bully opposition leaders into submission,” it tweeted. “In either case, it reflects political vindictiveness weakly justified as allowing the law to take its course.”

What has she looted? Which mafia is she a part of? and where is the evidence? To be making such a huge statement, you must have some inside information.

She is feeding from the Sharifs trough, do you know of many nurses that have gucci bags?

Punjab Caretaker Information Minister Amir Mir on Thursday said that the Punjab Police was ordered not to open fire on protesters on May 9, adding that former prime minister Imran Khan's allegations are baseless and fabricated.

The former premier, in a statement, had alleged that the police had killed 25 citizens and injured 600 others on May 9 — the day Imran was arrested by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case.

"Imran Khan's allegations are baseless and pure falsehoods. Accusing the police of causing the deaths of 25 civilians and injuring hundreds through firing is not a white lie but a black one. The orders given to Punjab Police on May 9 were to refrain from firing on the protesters," Mir tweeted.

LHC orders release of 123 PTI workers detained across Punjab

The Lahore High Court has nullified the detention orders of 123 PTI workers who were held in jails for their alleged involvement in the May 9 violence.

The court has directed the government to release them without delay. These workers, arrested from Faisalabad, are currently detained in various jails throughout Punjab.

The orders were issued by Justice Anwarul Haq of the LHC during the hearing of a petition filed by PTI leader Farrukh Habib who sought the release of the detained party activists.

16 Canadian MPs write to PM Trudeau over democracy, human rights situation in Pakistan

As many as 16 Canadian Members of Parliament (MPs) have written to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, urging that “Canada make clear its commitment to the values of justice, democracy and human rights” in Pakistan.

In a letter, dated May 19, the MPs have expressed their “grave concern over the situation unfolding in Pakistan” and have called for people’s “right of peaceful protest to be respected”.

SC didn’t provide Mercedes for Imran

The Su**preme Court on Monday clarified that it did not provide the Mercedes car for for PTI Chairman Imran Khan to appear before the court.

On May 11, a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial ordered the Islamabad police to present Mr Khan, two days after he was arrested from the premises of Islamabad High Court in the Al-Qadir Trust case.

Subsequently, the PTI chief was brought in a black Mercedes amid tight security and he was taken inside the court through the judges’ gate.

In its clarification, the court said Islamabad Police had arranged the Mercedes for transporting Mr Khan in compliance with the bench’s direction.

It added that Mr Khan’s appearance was delayed by over an hour since the police were arranging for his safe transportation to the court.

Mr Khan’s appearance in the Mercedes didn’t sit well with government leaders, who claimed it was a favour extended to the PTI chief.

On May 20, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, in a tweet, questioned the CJP “why he was not provided a Mercedes for court appea*rances”.*
