India can bring back Rahul maybe. He is in tremendous form. But Shaw needs time to work on his technique for success overseas.

This thread will end with Shaw making some posters look foolish.
No one is denying his talent. We just say he currently has issues
If he works on them and does well, props to him
what early stats like this? lol
you're acting like he scored 2 double hundreds in his first two matches.
He made a 100 against WI at HOME. Hardly impressive
Many analysis based on hindsight. Whenever he fails, he has poor technique. It's gonna be a never ending battle, and ultimately, Shaw has scored big runs in his career so far, and isn't the only one struggling in NZ currently. So a bit of time and patience...
Can anyone tell me why Shaw is better than Iyer?
needs to play in t20 indian team
Has he worked on his technique during his time away from the Indian team, or is it difficult to judge from performances in domestic franchise competitions? It does seem that he has regained his balance at the crease though.
Believe it or not, Dhawan probably booked his spot. There's no room for Shah
Will be exposed outside India
He is an absolutely stunning player and has the same gift and Tendulkar and Lara. As I said on the first page of this thread 14-15 months back, him and Gill will be the two best batsmen in the world in a few years time.
Both are equal talents in my view with different strengths and weaknesses, although across formats, Shaw should eclipse Gill because he has more flair in white ball cricket.
The future of Indian batting couldn’t be in safer hands. The tradition of India producing ATG batsmen in every generation shall continue with this duo.

Okay, so when is he playing for India again?
He should be selected as third opener for our Indian WT20 team ahead of Shikhar Dhawan. Alongside Rohit and Kohli, he will compliment very well. Rohit takes a bit of time initially while Shaw can go boom boom right away so that will complement each other very well.
In tests, he is overrated as he has a very poor technique vs moving ball and is not good enough to play as specialist batsman in overseas conditions. His fielding is also pretty awful. If he can keep wickets, he can be a good sidekick replacement for Pant when Pant is injured or taking rest.![]()
Not great. His problems remain same as they were earlier. Score pretty 30s & 40s and then get out, something which Gill too is guilty of. However Gill at least has a better batting technique than Shaw.Overlooked for the tour to South Africa despite the injury to Shubman Gill.
His scores for India A in South Africa:
48
42
18
5

Should he be in India's ODI Squad?
No
A - fitness . His injuries have come at times he didn’t need them . But he doesn’t seem to have improved
B - needs a stellar ipl season to get into india t20
C - in two more years he will be there . His ability to have high STrike rate is what t20 team looking for . Technical issues are manageable . His timing is v v good
One of the worst player I have seen when it comes to shot selection. On numerous occasions, he gets out batting like a hack.
An absolute failure outside India.
Below are his averages in IPL whenever he plays outside India :-
Abu Dhabi - 6
Sharjah - 22
Dubai - 17
I think he must learn from his senior countrymen- Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer and Ravi Ashwin on how to bat sensibly and with responsibility.

Aren't you used to it already because one of your favorite player actually plays like this most of the time especially in LOIs? At least your tired eyes will get a break after looking at a new player repeating the same mistakes.![]()
![]()
AB de Villiers batted like a modern day genuis in LOIs, he revolutionized modern day LOI cricket as he is the emperor of 360 degree batting. Please update your knowledge when talking about greats of the game and the only ODI batsman in the history of the game to average 50+ at strike rate of 100+ and smashed McGrath and co in World Cup 2007 for a 70 ball 92.![]()
Keyword is plays not played. I know it will be embarrassing for you to accept.![]()
![]()
He has only played 1 ball in T20Is lol. If we can give Pant 51(and still counting) matches in T20I cricket even with a pathetic strike rate why can't we give atleast half of those to guys like Shaw, Kishan or Samson?![]()

Looks like you didn't followed the England ODI series decider or maybe forgot that. Nevertheless, highlights are still available, you can go watch that and it might be embarassing for you to accept then![]()

I watched that. It took him 26 matches to play an inning like that but you didn't complain once before that. And here you can be seen going after Shaw left, right and center just because Mamoon thinks he is a combination of Tendulkar and Lara. Once again you had no problem when he compared Pant with Gilly so early in his career too.
It seems you hate Shaw from the bottom of your heart. He is just a 22 year old baby in international cricket. He can be a failure like Pant is in T20Is but at least let him play even half of whatever matches Pant has played for India in T20s.
I am not someone who hypes players here. I always believe players should get enough opportunities to showcase their talent and that should be given consistently not just here and there. Guys like Samson, Kishan, Shaw haven't played enough matches.![]()
Another embarassing IPL season fro Shaw..
From being overhyped as next Tendulkar- Lara, he seems to be ending up the Umar Akmal way.
The style of batting he demonstrates, the right term for him would actually be "Gareebon Ka Afridi".![]()

I don't have problem with players being hyped. Our projection is based on their potential. At the end of the day it is upto the batsman to iron out weaknesses and show improvement.
If Shubman Gill’s career graph has gone in an upward direction, his U-19 teammate Prithvi Shaw has plunged to rock bottom. Shaw played the first six games of the season for the Delhi Capitals, scoring 12, 7, 0, 15, 0 and 13, before he was dropped. He returned for the last two games, and scored a fifty but never found that tempo in his batting.
Shaw finished the IPL with 106 runs in eight matches.Shubman Gill smashed three centuries in his last four innings and has the Orange Cap now, for a total of 851 runs so far, scored at an average of 60.78 and strike rate of 156.43.
Former India pacer Karsan Ghavri says the fortunes are contrasting as Gill has worked “tirelessly on his batting,” while Shaw “hasn’t”.
“They were in the same team that won the U-19 World Cup in 2018, right? Today where is Prithvi Shaw and where is Shubman Gill? They are in two different categories,” Ghavri told The Indian Express.
“Shaw thinks he is a star and nobody can touch him. But he needs to understand that at the international level, irrespective of whether you are playing T20, 50 over or the Test match or even the Ranji Trophy, it takes only one delivery to get you out.
“You require discipline and a good temperament. You need to constantly work on yourself. You are required to occupy the crease, and if you do that, you are bound to get more runs,” Ghavri said.
Ghavri feels Shaw should learn from Gill and must work on his technique and fitness.
“They are of the same age. Nothing has been lost yet. Gill has worked on his flaws, while Shaw hasn’t. He still can. He needs to work hard; otherwise, there is no point having so much potential,” he says.
Ghavri is not the only one, who has slammed Shaw for his batting and work ethics. Former New Zealand pacer Simon Doull that the Mumbai batter needs to work on his technique and fitness.
“I pointed out the glitch in his batting in 2018 and till now, I can see the same. No change. You can’t continue down the same road. If things aren’t working, you have to change them up, and he has to understand where he is at in his game. It’s just not good enough. I don’t think he is fit. I don’t think he has really adjusted his game as such and he has paid the price,” Doull had said on Cricbuzz after Shaw’s lean phase in the early part of the tournament.
At the start of the season, Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting had high hopes for Prithvi Shaw and even said that this will be opener’s biggest season in the IPL. Ponting admitted that Shaw failed to live up to his potential.
“I actually came out and publicly said on record that he might be our standout player throughout the tournament, but that hasn’t worked out,” he said after Shaw was dropped following a string of poor scores.
“It was six games this season, I think six or seven games in the back end of the last season. I think it is 13 games (12) since Prithvi has made a fifty while opening the batting,” Ponting had said. “We needed to find that spark at the top of the order, and Prithvi has failed to give us that start.”
Injury derailed his career completelyIf I go by my faulty memory, I think he was doing ok in International cricket until he twisted his leg while fielding in Australia. Then Gill replaced him and that unfortunately the turning point. He then got bald, fielding suffered, grew tummy and then gradually disappeared from the selector's radar.
