Veteran actor Adnan Siddiqui landed in hot water after mocking former Pakistani cricket team captain Sarfraz Ahmed for his way of speaking during a live Ramadan transmission recently.

Previously, the veteran actor had apologised to the families of deceased Bollywood stars Sridevi and Irrfan Khan over insensitive comments by PTI leader and host Aamir Liaquat Hussain, labelling it as an "extremely callous" act to joke about the deceased.

The Mere Paas Tum Ho actor turned to Instagram and shared a lengthy post while expressing his regret about being part of the show.

He wrote, “So I don’t know how to explain what I’m feeling right now or what to say. But this need to go out. I was invited on the live chat show ‘Jeeway Pakistan’ yesterday when this unfortunate incident happened.”

“The anchor Amir Liaquat joked about something extremely sensitive. Not only were they both close to me but also as a human it was wrong on so many levels. I cannot even call it ‘hitting below the belt’.”

These Ramadan transmissions in general are the epitome of cheap, low quality entertainment full of crass individuals like this guy. I wouldn’t go on one of these shows if I was offered all the money in the world. When you feed the public this kind of garbage then how do you expect this country to improve? The effect of Good media and entertainment on a society is quite substantial

Wonder what due diligence PCB does when allowing its players too take part in such programs?

It is sad to see Adnan Siddiqui treating Safraz like a child and not giving him respect. I always thought Adnan was a refined well spoken person. Even if they have banter, it should not be portrayed on national tv.

People need to cut this guy some slack. He won you an ICC trophy for heavens sake and definitely deserve more respect than his fellow countrymen gives him. I have noticed this in last year's world cup as well when people were body shaming him. Not cool.

It seems doing a show with Amir Liaqat had a negative impact on Adnan. He is doing cheap harketein like him now. :inti

I don't like Safraz as a cricketer or a ambassador but I would never treat him with such disrespect. He is a human first and deserves respect.

Bhai Amir Liaquat jungle mein jayega tu saray saanp salute karnay ayeingaye apnay badshah ko.

It is a travesty that this guy belongs to PTI and is also elected from my city LOL :inti

Making fun of someone's speech impediment is way too below the belt and disgraceful. It is no different from making fun of someone's disability/handicap.

I was sent a clip during the WC of some Pakistani channel making fun of Kapil Dev by having an actor in a blackface imitate him. Yes you heard it right black face in the year 2019. unbelievably irresponsible programming.

I don't watch a lot of desi tv, but it seems that whenever I do, I realise what poor quality it is.

Why would Sarfaraz even want to appear on such a show.

They think it's funny.

Cheap comedy which is frankly pathetic.

Exactly, how do they not understand that? Who could actually think this would be funny at all. It's just uncomfortable watching it.

Sarfaraz's street style of talking was going to result in mockery at some point. Players should take responsibility and groom themselves as they go along. The likes of Wasim, Waqar, Saqlain, Azhar Mahmood developed their English speaking skills and talking skills as they went along, early on in their career's they couldn't speak a word of English properly.

Adnan Siddiqui aplogised for it today on the show, we all makes mistakes so lets move on now.

+1.

Sarfaraz has no sense and poor judgement. He is the one caught shouting ‘Kalay ......’ from behind the stumps. Also after poor performance in WC, he was seen enjoying meals with his family at a B’ham resturant. He is definitely no role model himself

Some funny stuff.

Sarfraz got away with far worse comments behind the stumps.

Wow seriously man that sucks if you can find it please share a link or something (not because I don't believe you it's just so crazy I actually have to see it but I won't be surprised)

Miss the old times when there was only PTV/STN and the standard checks were in control.

The apology.

Actor Adnan Siddiqui on Friday apologised to his fellow judge, the former Pakistani cricket team captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, saying he "did not mean to say anything in that way" after the former had mimicked him during a recent appearance on a show.

"To his [Sarfaraz's] fans and friends, I apologise. I swear I did not mean to say anything in that way, that I upset him or his friends," Siddiqui is seen saying to the cricketer.

Before Sarfaraz, however, could respond, host Fahad Mustafa chimed in, saying: "Good thing, good thing, we love you Adnan bhai."

The actor then again asked the former captain: "You're not mad at me, right?"

To which Sarfaraz responded: "No, no!"

And just then, again, Mustafa is seen turning towards the cricketer and repeated the same crass joke after Siddiqui apologised, saying: "Let's do it once again."

Earlier, after his insensitive comments towards the cricketer, the actor was severely criticised on social media. People slammed him for being disrespectful to national heroes like Ahmed who have brought pride to Pakistan on various international platforms.

Previously, Siddiqui had apologised to the families of deceased Bollywood stars Sridevi and Irrfan Khan over PTI leader and host Aamir Liaquat Hussain's insensitive comments, labelling them "extremely callous".

In an Instagram post, he expressed regret about being part of the show and said both the late Indian actors were "close to me but also as a human it [the comment] was wrong on so many levels".

"I cannot even call it ‘hitting below the belt’,” Siddiqui had added.
