[VIDEOS] Shubman Gill - Future Indian batting star

So far he has got starts in all 3 of his test innings. Needs to go on if he wants to be a permanant fixture in the Indian test team as one never knows what's going on in Kohli's mind.

He's in the Rohit camp as saw in that controversy.Probably why he hadn't debuted earlier

That’s good, india needs these kind of guys who aren’t blind sheep. Gambhir, Yuvi, Rohit, now Gill. I hear he hates Modi too so he’s now my favorite Indian youngster.

The time machine has been turned on.

The future has arrived here, right now.

Gabba, 19/01/2021

20* Looking like he don't care a damn who's bowling to him.

:viru

53* off 98 balls. The lad is 21 years old. Certainly a special talent, no doubt about that.

Please can you enlighten me how he becomes anti-virat just because he goes for a dinner with Rohit. The team usually goes for lunch in small groups instead of 20-30 people going together. This used to happen even during Sachin, Dravid, Kumble times. these small groups usually had atleast one senior and junior to improve camaraderie between seniors and juniors.

Mamoon - What's your opinion on the young lad after this innings of his so far?

Only a matter of time before he began showcasing his true talent on this stage.

On his next tour to AUS, he’ll have a breakthrough.

Absolute superstar. How blessed are we to get a player like him coming in.

Now just need Padikkal and Jaiswal to learn their trade in domestics for a couple of seasons and we got the new batting set ready.

What a find is this kid for India. Reminds me of Tendulkar in 1991 tour of Australia. He will become a star for India.

The talent and swagger in this bloke!

He's going to do special things. It's written all over him.

Mamoon - What's your opinion on the young lad after this innings of his so far?

Same as before the innings. He will be one of the greatest of all time.

Ab Fan I told you when Rohit got out.

Gill will be a superstar by the end of the day.

He's batting at the ideal position too.

As an opener I can see him smashing some really big daddy tons.

Imagine the carnage Sharma and He will u lesh in India :yk

One of those you guys you travel miles to watch bat. Such grace, poise, class in his shots. No ugly swipes.

jaiswal is a very good player i like him

Going by the way he has played so far, I can say with some conviction that he's gonna be our next great batsman. Just look at the control with which he played his strokes. Pure talent! He's a number 3. That's his place. Not an opener and shouldn't be one either.

Deserved a ton

However he looks a backfoot predominant player, like VVS

England tour would be real challenge for him

Did you see some issues with his footwork? Not sure if that was deliberate

Young opener Shubman Gill on Tuesday hit his second Test fifty in only the third match as India chase a 328-run target to beat Australia in the series-deciding match at The Gabba, Brisbane.

Resuming on the overnight score of 0, Gill reached his fifty in the 29th over with a double off the first ball, bowled by Josh Hazlewood. He took 90 balls.

With that, he ((21y 133d) became the youngest Indian opening batsman to score 50-score in the fourth innings of a Test match. The previous youngest was Sunil Gavaskar (21y 243d) himself when he hit an unbeaten 67 against the West Indies at Port of Spain in 1970/71 on his debut.

After making his debut in the second match of the series, scoring 45 and 35 not out in Melbourne, the right-handed batsman hit his maiden fifty in the next match (first innings) in Sydney.

However, the youngster failed to bring up his maiden century, missing by nine runs. He made 91 off 146 before getting out, caught by Steve Smith at slip off Nathan Lyon.

Devdutt Padikkal and Gill opening for India would be a treat

The RCB IPL kid? He's got sweet timing but absolutely zero footwork. Good for T20s and maybe ODIs when Dhawan retires. Don't think he'll ever play a test with that technique

Shubman Gill's father not happy with 91 at The Gabba; says he should've scored a century

On Day 5 of the Gabba Test, Shubman Gill paved the way for India’s glorious victory by scoring an excellent 91. However, his father Lakhwinder Gill was disappointed with his son's dismissal method. He also said that a century would’ve been good for the youngster’s confidence.

"A century would have been good for his confidence. He was batting so well, and I don't know why all of a sudden, he played away from his body," senior Gill told TOI.

"The six innings he has batted in this Test series, he was always looking comfortable at the crease. But for me, the worrying sign is his mode of dismissals. He is chasing the ball way outside the off stump, and I am sure other teams would have noticed it. Hopefully, he will learn from it and will not repeat this mistake," he added.

A couple more dismissals in the 90s and his dad may just call him back and ask him to train for a respectable white collar job.

In all seriousness this is all fine and good. If this starts to degenerate and become Yograj Singh like in later years we know media needs to shut shop.

This story is similar to Sangakkara's one ,his dad was upset because he never broke out Bradman's average.

This is what happens when your dad is too passionate about cricket and literally shifted for your career.

Desi Dads , I hope its not the way of showing off by OP as to how much we demand from our “children “ .. its pathetic honestly

Haha typical desi parent. But good, this is what makes desis compete better.

Love this.

Instead of basking in the glory of an excellent 91, his dad is pushing him to greater heights.

Over coached, imagine hearing this after the 91, desi parents are pathetic:

“and I don't know why all of a sudden, he played away from his body”

tbf to Gill that one didn’t spin as much as he thought

His Dad has given everything for him to be where he is today. God bless him!

He is his coach as well though. He is critical of his shot selection more than anything else. If he doesnt look out for his errors who else will.

Shubman is well rounded, just a few chinks which need correction and has an opportunity to be the best in the business. If you've got his sort of ability, striving for perfection is not even an option, its a given.

Gill has already done better than those 2 at FC level who average in 30s

Chand was hyped for u-19 success
He could never deliver at FC level & neither in IPL,fansstopped caring about him just 1-2 years after the 2012 U-19 WC
He now struggles to find a place in Delhi Ranji team,no one picks him for IPL

Samson was never a consistent performer at FC
he was never taken seriously by those who follow Indian domestic cricket
Only IPL fan bois rated him

10th January 2019

This was my reply to a poster who believed he will fizzle out like other U19 stars.

Have you seen his instagram page? I hope BCCI has no issues with DP considering who is at the helm.

They shouldn't. He is a free citizen of a free country, unless he is breaking some clause of his bcci contract.

I thought it was a bit better today no?

He adjusted his footwork mid game when he was batting at around 40 to counter the short ball tactic.
Went back to normal after counter attacking Starc and then no more short balls were used.

Also. Seeing his performances in 'A' tours to England, I believe he will be fine.
He has played lots of ODIs and 4 day matches there.
But still would love him to play county for a season or 2 to round him off.

Love this.

This is typical Indian dad for you Saj bhai.
I got 96 marks out of 100 in Mathematics and told my dad about it.
Dad's first response, Baaki ke 4 kahan gae..

He looks to be growing with each innings and will become a top player, how good will depend on many factors such as luck, injuries and form

Picking Axar over Sundar was a smart move.
Three spinners all turning it into the right handers sounds foolish
Axar can also utilize the rough against lefties, the others can't.

Sundar is more a batsmen who has scored 85 and 60 recently

it was more Axar v Kuldeep for me.I'd have picked Axar. Not sure Kuldeep's slow spin pace suits this pitch

He was roughed up in the last test and was all at see.
The way he submitted to Archer by getting caught at mid-on was a sight to behold.
Exilherating bowling.

I hope Gill recovers from that.

Kohli clearly mentioned that he will not go with similar type of bowlers. Ashwin, Kuldeep and Sundar was not possible because all three turn the bowl into the batsman. With Axar at 7, they can go with Kuldeep as Axar takes the bowl away from the batsman.

lol so desperate to see a young player fail. Don't worry about him.. He will cope well. Worry about the second coming of Garner.. hope he gets another test match.
