How stylish does he look these days?

Seems like a mix of Brian Lara, Gary Sobers and Gordon Greenidge. Has mastered the Caribbean-style pull shot with one leg in the air.

Would love to see Lahore give him a run up the order at some point, like Melbourne.

For me, his batting has been one of the highlights of this otherwise dour PSL 2.

top order is fine I guess they can't drop any of Roy, McCullum, Fakhar and Umar, after that Rizwan is an accumulator at 5, so 6 could be perfect for Narine:thumbsup
 
Lahore's strongest batting line up would be:

Roy
McCullum
Fakhar
Delport
Narine
Rizwan
Tanvir

if half of them fire, 180 would be easy to get:thumbsup
 
He would play as our opener if he was on our team. He looks better than any of our batsmen.
 
A much improved batsmen a very clean striker of the ball and is playing very good cricket shots. Seems very calm and cool at the crease as well. Lahore should use him as a pinch hitter.
 
It's called the "Flamingo Pull". My favorite shot along with the backfoot cover-drive.
 
Really like this guy he is a really good hitter he should bat at 5 ahead of elliot and rizwan
 
Been the most reliable "tailender" in years. It's great to see him play better than 80% of KK's batsmen. :))
 
Wow. Narine has really re-invented himself as a T20 opener/slogger.

To make 42 runs by the 4th over is quite remarkable.
 
If West Indies can put up their mind properly they can still form a decent LOI International Team (and even Test Team after that!)
 
The guy is so calm and relaxed and he does not care of any bowler. He acts like he is playing in the park

Now that teams will expect him, they will throw a barrage of fast short deliveries and full length and he will be caught in the crease. He just stands and delivers and teams are currently serving him up good length deliveries. Won't work for long. ANyway good move from KKR.
 
Wow how on earth did this guy reinvent himself as a batsman? Always thought he was a typical tailender.

Another quality innings. Excluding Sharjeel, he is probably better than any LOI opener in Pakistan at the moment.
 
I have been saying opening is a joke , I dont rate any of the openers in last 10 years or so unless they can score at SR of more than 120 .
Most of them are not half as good as their stats suggest cos they do not have a game outside the field restrictions . Narine is though one of the better no8's and a gifted timer , could easily average 35+ with a 100+ sr if he starts opening for WI .
 
Narine made batting look so easy on a pitch where greats such as Gayle, Kohli and De Villiers struggled and got single digit scores
 
he's successful bcz he bat like a bowler. he or his team doesn't care about his wicket!
 
Commentators saying how did KKR decide to open with them and was it down to the tactical genius that is Gautam Gambhir? It's almost as if the Big Bash and PSL didn't exist and they just threw him up at the top with no experience.:narine
 
He seems smart. He may have known that he may not have that old magic in his bowling with his new bowling action, hence worked on his batting as well, so that he is more valuable to his team. Our players must pay heed, especially our tailenders.

Narine has worked hard on his batting , he no longer relies on his bowling only , this way he will last longer.
 
I remember when Narine was the coolest bowler in the IPL. Now he's the coolest, most hilarious opener.

Shows really how poor Pakistani openers are.

If a tailender can reinvent himself to become a semi-reliant pinch hitter, one must wonder what the entirety of the Pakistani batting stocks are doing that they struggle to bat to the pace of modern standards?

Prior to this year in his entire T20 career Narine had scored 382 runs in 195 games - fewer than two runs per match and had never batted in the top 4.

Narine is an underrated Hitter. A clean striker of the ball and he packs some power too.
 
Gun innings today. Guided his team to victory with his 79 chasing 153. Has been going strength to strength wrt to his batting. Really worked on it in IPL season. Was always a good timer of the ball.

Unlike other bowlers who had been suspected for chucking he didn't cry and moan or come up with lies about some freak accident, worked on other aspects of his cricketing game and is still a world class prospect.

You do know umar akmal is the reason Lahore had any success and was the batsman of the psl1 edition and countless times saved them. Your blind hate stops you thinking logically.
 
Shocking how he has shaped himself into a modern t20 batsman. Lahore should defiantly ustilse him better:

Lahore more importantly need to find some decent pacers, if I was them I'd look to get Woakes and Willy from England.
 
Given I found out that before my time that Malik was a pure spinner who converted himself into a batting allrounder, I was not that surprised and same for Ashwin as they had some batting talent to be able to onvert themselves into allrounders; Darren Sammy too. I was shocked to see Narine become a devastating T20 opener, never in my mind did I think he would change himself to become one.

it actually tells more about how easy it is to open these days , its not just T20s . Zero pressure , flat pitches with no assistance for pace bowlers and power plays .

Narine is smart. His bowling went down due to change of action. So he improved his batting.
 
Meh... Even his little cameo today was a chancy and pure hackish knock. Akhtar's knock was better and he's also better hitter than him.

Rather open with Akhtar and Fakhar. Narine should bat at 7-8

He has to take chances , that is why he is send to open. He will take 100 % chance. Even if he gets 20 - 25 runs thats good enough for the team.

Against bowlers like Amir and Hasan, Narine will be going back to the pavilion in the first or second over.
Akhtar has higher ceiling, he's more powerful, better timer of the ball too.

Wherever he plays there's always risk involved he's a hit or miss player. But if he hits some boundaries early on, there will be no pressure on Fakhar, he's the best batsman of the team he also needs some support to keep the score moving quickly otherwise all the pressure will be on him Baz is a dud with the bat in the PSL, and the less said about Umar and Riz, the better.

IPL is here time for Narine to become a GOAT T20 batsmen...even if it is for a month.

Really loves batting on these wickets it seems. Plays with a lot of flair too. Natural clean striker of the ball like Bhaju, Moeen Ali, Imran Gul, Southee, Stars, Johnson etc

Amazing hitters a lot of these bowlers.

Didn't watch any of the innings, but both McCullum and Narine played at SRs exceeding 150 today. Fawad Rana must be tearing his hair out.

He is useful for team. He does not waste balls , so does not cost the team much. Thus its always a win win situation .

That was what I was thinking as well. Pitches in IPL might be better for batting but a big jump in performance for these 2 for sure

Narine is such an intelligent man. He didn't reveal his batting talents to PSL so that to stay away from knockouts took place in Pakistan. Now he is showing his talents in the best league so that everyone can watch him..well played man..he had great net practice in psl..

Baz's innings was streaky. HE just lucked his way out. Narine was feeding on brainless bowling of Mark wood. Moment Umesh was on fear factor came in. He got cleaned up.

The popular opinion till less than a year back was that this “tailender” was better than Pak openers. Some 5-6 months where your team has played well (even if we ignore the NZ drubbing (what was it 30/8 in 27 overs?)) and look at your arrogance. Show some respect dude. Narine is a decent hitter. Especially deserves respect for reinventing his batting when he saw that he could get banned due to chucking. Never that easy to do at a Global stage.

He actually hit Woakes (20 off 6) and Sundar (18 off 5) off 2 consecutive overs. That's how he got 38 runs off 11 deliveries. Both are decently good bowlers.

I must have missed the post where I said 'Narine is better than our openers'. Narine was a dud when he played in PSL, which I watched and followed. He was one of the main reasons Lahore Qalandars crashed and burned throughout the campaign. I respect him because he is a world-class bowler who I enjoy watching bowl, but I have no love for him as a batsman.
 
Narine continues to do well in domestic T20 cricket. He’s the perfect choice as T20 opener. Scores quickly, doesn’t waste any balls then departs to let the other guys do their jobs.
 
Perfect for T20 leagues as an opener as mentioned above.

However he has done nothing for West Indies yet with the bat. Kind of like Dwayne Smith who was also a hot commodity in T20 leagues but averaged 20 for WI.
