What's new

[VIDEOS] Talent Spotter: Mohammad Haris

Last one was his best knock in his limited domestic cricket career till now to make his maiden List A century scoring 100 off 75 balls.

Can't take these performances seriously when you have Imran Farhat and other TTFs are scoring for fun.

TTFs with international experience do perform the domestic competitions of other countries as well, I dont think that should undermine the performances of youngsters with not even much domestic experience.

I don't understand why people think these older players shouldn't be playing domestic cricket. If they are in there by merit, and are scoring runs/taking wickets, it's making the standard of the competition better, not worse. I'm yet to see any country's domestic cricket not include a significant amount of players over 30.

I don't think many serious fans are arguing for that. It's just a few who are either new to the game or have bought into the "talent bohut hay" idea.

Every domestic tournament around the world will have a few of these "TTF's" and they're often very good performers. If they're good enough at that level, they should be able to earn their bread through the sport they love.

This young man is THE most talented young cricketer in Pakistan ATM, he is better than even Rohail .

He was the only Pakistan 19 player to impress me in last WC.

his ball striking and fearless approach is good to see

Needs to be taken on A team tours now on bouncier wickets.

I'm impressed with his batting. Another players batting I've been impressed with is Mohammad Waseem. I was trying to find the thread on him but couldn't. Both of them can hit all around the ground. Hopefully these guys can build on their games and become proper prospects for LO cricket.

They bring quite a lot of value and experience to the side .

Amazing talent.

He’s good. But no need to overstate it, I’d like to see him in First Class cricket first and then up against some better bowlers in the PSL, then a few A tours, then intl cricket and then maybe it’ll be worth calling him amazing

Did any PSL team select him?

Good for him tbh... (If he is financialy secure)
A good outing can lead to him getting rushed into Pak team and can potentially destroy his career

First class cricket should be his first priority but the PSL money distract him

https://dailytimes.com.pk/737864/wicketkeeper-haris-looking-forward-to-become-pakistans-best/

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s young wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Haris is aiming to become Pakistan’s ‘Mr 360 degrees’. He displayed his wide range of shots during his maiden List A century against Balochistan in the 2021 Pakistan Cup, earlier this year. The promising wicketkeeper has risen in the ranks, based solely on merit, and shown his prowess with the bat since his Under-19 days. The Peshawar-born cricketer scored 131 runs at an average of 65.5 in the 2020 Under-19 World Cup and was Pakistan’s highest run-scorer in that tournament, which also featured the likes of Haider Ali and Rohail Nazir. In an interview, the 19-year-old said that he likes to play innovative strokes in order to disrupt opposition plans. “I want to have every shot in my batting armour, so that I trouble the bowlers instead of them troubling me. I practice every shot, so that I have a plan B in case the opposing captain changes the field to counter my plans. I want to become a 360 degrees player,” said Haris.

Pakistan has recently had an emergence of young wicketkeeper-batsmen, which includes the likes of Rohail Nazir and Azam Khan, who are pushing the envelope in terms of power hitting. However, Haris is undeterred by growing competition as he remains focused on improving his overall game. “I am also working on my fielding since I am young. I don’t think about competition and continue to work hard. I firmly believe that if you work hard, you will get an opportunity irrespective of competition. Teams like England, Australia and New Zealand have three or four wicketkeeper-batsman in their squad, so my job is to perform whether I am given an opportunity as a wicketkeeper or a batsman,” he said. “During Under-19, Rohail Nazir was my competitor as wicketkeeper, but I didn’t think about how I will beat him in competition. My thought process was clear that I have to perform to the best of my abilities. Hence, I ended up touring five times in the same team as Rohail and he is my best friend now,” he added.

Haris topped the charts in terms of dismissals (30) as a wicketkeeper in 2020-21 Quaid-e-Azam (QeA) second XI Trophy. But the 19-year-old failed to break into KP’s first-class team as he faced intense competition from wicketkeeper Rehan Afridi, who was also on top of the table in QeA first-class tournament with 35 dismissals. “My main priority is first-class cricket. It was my wish to make my first-class debut this year so that I could gain some experience, but unfortunately I couldn’t get an opportunity. Rehan [Afridi] performed really well and I hope he continues to do well for KPK and Pakistan. I am focused on improving myself and my own performances,” he said. “Selectors are keeping a close eye on all top performers. Mohammad Wasim Jr, who recently got selected, was with us in Under-19 team and Mohammad Imran has also been called up to the national team’s training camp. So it is a good thing that players are being rewarded for their performances. Whenever I am given an opportunity, I want to make full use of it,” he concluded.

Picked by Karachi Kings in the Replacement draft. Hope he gets a few games to play in.

Mohammad Haris – Karachi Kings: “I am absolutely thrilled to join the HBL Pakistan Super League 2020 defending champions. Karachi Kings is a big franchise with some of the biggest names in the game and to rub shoulders with them will be nothing short of a dream coming true for me.

“If given an opportunity I would aim to play my natural game and back my skills that helped me at the U19 level and for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the last domestic season. I have worked really hard on my batting, wicketkeeping and overall fitness in recent months and I hope that I make all of that count when I take the field for my team in Abu Dhabi.”

I wanted to see him play in the psl but it's good experience hopefully he learns from Babar azam.

He is one new players I was looking forward to see in PSL, enormously talented , but poor guy has no connection unlike the fat one.

Pakistan Selectors include Haris in the Squad against NZ

“Mohammad Rizwan remains the first-choice wicketkeeper, as such, it has been decided to include 20-year-old Mohammad Haris in place of Sarfaraz Ahmed. This is not only to reward Haris for his outstanding domestic performances in the previous season, but also to give him a taste and flair of international cricket along with its rigours and demands and to ensure that we continue to groom young wicketkeepers who are fit and ready to step up when the opportunity presents itself.

Isnt that way too small?

Not uncommon range for a keeper. In recent times be it Rizwan, Wade, Pant, Rahim quite a few of them are around that range give or take an inch or two.

Yes, very good choice, 2nd best in Pakistan only to Rizwan . Very talented and mentally strong, played good innings under pressure in under 19 WC.

Haris can play different shots for example the scoop.

Looks like a confident young man.

A couple of lovely sixes already.

countless chances already. living on the knife edge. Looks so good hope he makes it count.

Wahab Riaz today after the win over KK "Credit to the boys especially Mohammad Haris who set the tone with his first ball 6 and gave all the guys in the dressing room a lot of energy"

This is THE most talented young cricketer in Pakistan , and he was kept benched for who----------Kamran Akmal , pathetic . He should be understudy to Rizwan in Pakistan team in all formats , not Sarfraz.

Looks like a modern opening batter, taking on the bowlers from the go with some clean hitting. Interesting prospect for Pakistan

Am not sure about tests but definitely t20s and odis.

I hope he's given a decent run now in PSL7 rather than just being dropped if he has a bad match or two.

As wicket keeper batsmen yes overall no. As a batsmen Abdullah Shafique looks the part.

Something doesn't like right about his stance. However, he hits the ball quite cleanly but at this point in time he has some way to go before we start to talk about a PK prospect.

The first page says he is 5'4... what is the optimal height for a keeper and is 5'4 too small?

Guess he has a lower centre of gravity and may be more nimble but won't be able to dive as far to stretch etc.

What is everyone's thoughts on him as a potential keeper?

What a Brilliant Innings of 49 by Muhammad Haris Khan!! Looked very confident, some brilliant sixes!

Problem is we are not preparing any other WK-batsman to replace Rizwan when he is not available due to injury or any other reason and to replace him when his time is up. We're still replying on Sarfraz , who is a failure at international level for long time. Even franchises are not giving much chances to young Pakistani WK-batsmen . Hope Haris will replace Kamran Akmal or regular basis in Zalmi .

Historically most of the top WK has been of short stature , as they have been more agile and nimble.

tatenda taibu, pathiv patel, mushfiqur rahim, all three were really short but decent keepers. most important thing for keepers is to have soft hands, concentration and fast reactions. haven't seen him keep so cant really say.

Harris for t20s and maybe odis and tests it should be rohail.

He looks like he prefers to play on the leg side so will have to see how he plays on offside.

Good Quick Fire innings, 6 fours in his stint. Got out to Mudassar after making 29 off 17 SR of 170.

Good to see the no fear cricket he is showing. could do we getting a few good potentials out of this years PSL. Haris and Qasim Akram can be 2 of them!

More of Haris' shots during PP

And good with the gloves too

The thing which i really like about him and which can make him ATG , He have ability to choose/pick which bowler he is going to target and get most of runs against him. If Haider Ali also learn this art he can be great batsman.

Let's see how he goes, but it wouldn't be a bad thing to start getting him involved in some of the white ball camps for Pakistan.

What impressed me about this Innings was that he played big shots but also was finding the boundary on the offside playing cricketing shots.

This guy is already Pkaistans second-best wicketkeeper-batsman. And yes, I am basing it off these brilliant innings. Mohammad Haris is so young, yet so confident, aggressive, has a wide range of shots. Brilliant Talent.

Karman Akmal who?

Mohammad Haris - 22 runs off Musa Khan - smashing it

Looks better each game. What I like is the minimum fuss with his technique... no really fancy/flawed back lift, trigger etc which one sees with most SC batsmen.

Fearless, confident and has faith in his own ability.

I like that - Pakistan cricket hasn't had many cricketers with some of these attributes of late.

Let's see how he progresses.

Im impressed by this lad looks a proper player.. that’s why I never wrote him off earlier on I can see something in this lad to make make it big.. we have rizwan at the moment but wouldn’t mind having this guy in the team as back up
