[VIDEOS] Three patients die as lawyers' protest outside Punjab Institute of Cardiology turns violent

Chief Justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khosa on Saturday said that the "tragic, unbelievable and shocking" attack on Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) earlier this week is "an opportunity for introspection and self accountability".

"Our hearts and our minds reach out to the victims and their families. We hope and pray all concerned would like to uphold the values attached to the legal profession as well as the medical profession," said CJP Khosa, addressing the national conference in Islamabad on expeditious justice.

Justice Khosa said that he has always believed "divinity, law and medicine [to be] the noblest of professions". He called on those employed in these professions to make "every effort to keep the nobility of such professions intact".

He expressed hope that "better sense will prevail" not just in this particular incident and its aftermath but in the future as well.

The chief justice, then said he would refrain from saying more on the subject as the matter is sub judice before the Lahore High Court.

On Wednesday, members of the legal fraternity had staged a violent protest at the PIC apparently on a mission to avenge a group of lawyers, who had been beaten up at the PIC a few weeks ago, soon after some video clips went viral on social media.

The incident had resulted in three deaths as the condition of some critical patients deteriorated in the absence of doctors after the lawyers barged into the hospital and damaged equipment and broke windows and doors.

CJP took Suo Moto of the COAS extention even though other CJPs had ruled the challenges inadmissible but he didn't have the courage to take on the lawyer thugs. Another untouchable mafia!

Lol, even 2 of the judges denied to do any listening on this case apart from Baqar. And one LHC Judge said that he wont be hearing any petition unless and untill the license of some lawyers are restored, guess who? :))

Crooks will always back crooks. This is truly disgusting and I hope the govt doesn't back down. But with a such a mafia, and the opposition trying to curry flavour with these crooks, politically necessity will dictate some disgusting rajnama. No wonder the Noora and Billo Khusra party are quiet.

Sad state of affairs.... lawyers are issuing countrywide protests demanding that cases should be dropped against those who attacked a hospital and killed patients. What sort of banana republic is this?

All of this started because a month or so ago a young doctor had the audacity to tell a lawyer to stand in line like the rest of the patients and wait for his turn rather than jumping the queue.

A quote I read online and applies to all lawyers:

And God said ‘Let there be Satan, so people don't blame everything on me. And let there be lawyers, so people don't blame everything on Satan.'

And according to Mr. Kurd "We are Kaala Coat people, and we should be presented into the court with DIGNITY and Respect, not like common culprits" :))

Athar Minallah refused to do any hearing in court unless some of his beloved lawyers get their license back :))
