[VIDEOS] Umar Akmal's comeback performance watch

Last Chance Saloon. QG have put the faith in him. With Afridi out injured, he is surely going to get game time.

Needs to take all his chances and come up big.

Seen the skills in him that Babar eventually delivered. Hope justice is done to the talent to some extent.

No expectations, but hope he can entertain the QG fans & maybe end the psl7 with a few decent knocks , fitness looks poor , certainly not an international cricketer anymore but as a big fan of Akmal of 2010/15 hope he does well in T20 circuits

Is it time for Umar Akmal to come in for QG. Iftikhar batting so far has failed, with Nawaz not bowling full quota of overs too I think he will play the next game.

why? you should play those who should be eligible for pakistan.

Doubt Umar Akmal will get a game in the PSL. From a Platinum Pick to a supplementary pick and being benched throughout the tournament, what a fall.

Team composition and playing Emerging player also has hampered his chances.

Although he could well replace the captain of this team easily too.

also Afridi doesn't seem too fit either. Ahsan Ali after early scores too could well miss final parts depending if there is any believe in UA.

Shouldn’t be anywhere close to the team let alone playing eleven. These toxic characters need to be rooted out from Pakistan cricket once and for all.

Thought he did really well today. That Jason Roy handshake and pat on the back brought back memories of yesteryear.

Good stuff

The reality is that he's lucky to be in the PSL7.

I'm sure there will be guys out there wondering why he's been picked and they haven't been given a chance.

No when he’s done well in the past and won the tournament last time he played.

When you have close to 50 year old Afridi playing then it’s fine for Umar to try to regain his form.

He's been picked because someone has used their influence behind the scenes to make sure Umar makes a little bit of money.

Perhaps someone linked to his late father in law.

A lot has passed under the bridge since umar did well

Hes starting at zero Lets be honest hes no brand like afridi whos playing on name alone

And yes hes lucky hes got a gig at this psl Akmals washed up Lets see where his career goes from here

So with Nawaz out of the picture, could it mean a return for Umar Akmal?

He's back!

Selected for QG XI for Match 18 vs Islamabad

This is going to turn into an epic thread

Took an injury for his inclusion but finally he is back in PSL.

Hopefully he can get some runs under his belt and take QG into the Play-offs.

Still a gun fielder inspite of not being in the best shape. If only he can achieve peak athletic fitness by sticking to a disciplined diet plan and slogging it out in the gym

Not gonna lie his fielding wasn't pretty but 10/10 for effort good first half for him let's see what he does with the bat

UA back with a bang!

Amazing

Still lucky just won the match for Quetta with 3 sixes our best test batsman and a match winner in limited overs as an opening batsman.

:salute

Gosh! What have u done Umar Akmal.

I am not willing to go through this again…

Lovely to see.

Delighted for him, excellent innings tonight which changed the course of the match.

Quick burst of a few sixes and then holing out in the deep.

Its like he’s never been away.

Those sixes were brilliant, and i was like wow, thought he's a washed up cricketer... So he's still left something in the tank..

Not been a fan of his for ages but you can see what that knock means to him. If he failed today he was finished.

Some ferocious hitting from him just when it mattered.

InshAllah it continues and he can make something for himself as his career comes to an end.

Btw somebody pls bump U.Akmal vs Kohli thread.. this time Akmal might be lucky since Kohli looks finished..

The good thing for Umar Akmal’s sake is that he will be competing against Asif, Azam & Iftikhar for a spot in the Pakistan T20 XI, and to be honest that doesn't need to do too much to outperform them at the moment.

Brilliant , match winning cameo , looked like a man on mission to claim back his lost spot in Pakistan team .

Most of our hard hitters : Asif Ali, Iftikhar etc struggle against genuine pace but Umar had always the ability to hit big against pace. But he had a limited game against spinners.

He had the skill but poor work ethic and lack of application as a batsman ruined his career.

That third six of the fast low dipping 140 km/hr full blooded yorker was a thing of beauty, don't think many players in world cricket could manage that. It was an ideal situation for him where he had to hit from ball one. He over complicates things when he has plenty of overs to bat.

If Umar Akmal has genuine body issues due to which it is very hard for him to lose weight, why not go for Liposuction?

Good comeback for him and he should know that he has got noticed here. It's up to him now if he can perform consistently or throw his wicket away more often. After today's innings, he should get proper chances now from QG at no. 4 or 5, above Iftikhar.

The King, The Messiah, the Forgotten Assassin, The wind beneath my wings, oh Umar Akmal how you’ve been missed.

Hail, Hail oh Umar.

I can see from the posts today that this boy has some serious fan following here. I would love to keep his fans in here happy with these performances but please don't bring arguments for Pak XI selection on the basis of this performance now.

Welcome to my world. This is how I view Rizwan fans.

We ARE fans. We deserve to be entertained. We deserve to get our money’s worth when watching a brand, a package. It is delightful to see Pakistani cricketers, batsmen ENTERTAIN us. Thank you Umar Akmal! I pray that you have 3-4 years of a cricket career left in order to entertain us, the fans. InshaAllah

Lmao. Only Pakistani fans can go gaga over one innings of a mediocre has been cricketer. The further away this guy stays from the team the better.

You could sense his toxic nature, he really was sounding shocked and surprised

Waqar and misbah single handedly destroyed this guys career , especially when they backed asad shafiq in test team and even gave shafiq an extended run in odi cricket that he failed in that format.

This comeback thread was for international, now its being celebrated for domestic performance :))

Dont need such corrupt individuals in our team. He can hit sixes in domestic. We have seen him fail 100 times in intl

Lol Umar Akmal should had played test? Ok....

Also, Misbah was bashed for the position he played umar at... Today at Quetta Umar akmal played at the same position.............

Misbah did the best thing to remove him from international cricekt :)

So satisfying to see him bat like this. Misbah brought him back just to discard him forever.

The only thing I agree with you is that yes we are "fans".

However not all fans think alike. Certainly in your case you clearly want entertainment (fair enough). In my case I want the team to fight and more importantly win games no matter how ugly the win is. As a fan I would be more satisfied with a grinding 75(60) balls but leading to a win rather than falling for 50(25) in a losing cause. From your posts from quite sometime I think you'd support the 50(25) in a losing cause because hey you as a fan got entertained!

In Pakistan, everyone (Haider, Asif, Khushdil, Iftikhar) is a big hitter….until a REAL butcher comes along.

Umar was one the long list of players who's career was destroyed by Misbah. Glad RR got rid of him on very first day.

I agree, well said.

I am not a fan of Misbah as a tactician. His plans did not work for Pakistan limited overs cricket. As a batsman he did very little outside Asia. His kind of regressive approach did not help Pakistan's limited overs cricket.

But only Umar Akmal is to be blamed for Umar's failures!

To be honest, it was Misbah who gave him a last chance against SL C team at home and it was U Akmal who could not grab that.

To say all those big boys were part of this game, all of them practising in PSL getting game time.

Then the a power hitter comes along.

The three sixes off his 8 ball stint Turned the tide.
