So he's left Manchester United after both parties agreed to end his contract.

It was only going to end with one outcome really after his recent interview Piers Morgan.

Where do you think he'll end up?

MLS? Middle-East? Arsenal? Serie A? Somewhere else?

Hope not

Ronaldo would say yes in the blink of an eye, and honestly so would I. Get him on a 1 year contract, rotate him with Jesus. He can be the difference between Arsenal winning the league and falling just short.

The shirt sales alone would compensate for Arsenal missing out on UCL money over the last few years.

Also, Piers Morgan would probably get a heart attack. :)))

If it doesn’t work out, he will walk away when the contract expires. If it does, extend him for another year.

Certainly not Arsenal lol.

Ronaldo wants a Champions League club or if not a huge money deal somewhere.

I have a feeling it could be Chelsea in Jan.

Japan was always an option for players close to retirement.

Not sure if they still have the money though these days.

Egomaniac is done as a top level player. Arsenal are going for the title. If you want to derail your season, sure go ahead and sign him, but if you are serious as a top club, you should avoid him as a plague.

Egomaniac would come to Arsenal and would want to start every game. The performances of other attacking players like Saka, Martinelli, Jesus, Odeguard will be affected as they will constantly be trying to get him the ball so he can score and do his stupid celebration. I guarantee if Arsenal sign him, they would struggle to finish in the top four.

He's a narcissist and has a big ego.

It's unlikely that he will get enough game time, or be the main character in one of the big european clubs. Most managers will be scared to touch him.

I reckon he will go to the USA. It has an ok footballing culture (compared to Arabs and China) and he can get Hollywood style adulation

Signing Ronaldo would violate Arteta's entire ethos and "non-negotiables". He might have compromised those values for a 27 year old Ronaldo, not a 37 year old one.

The opposite of a team player, absolutely none of the aggression, tenacity, pressing and dribbling that Jesus has brought that has taken us up a level. Will get benched for a game, go cry to Piers Morgan, ruin the dressing room and derail the season. Arteta paid Aubameyang a lot of money to leave for doing a lot less than what Ronaldo has done at United.

Cristiano Ronaldo is being linked with potential new clubs... one of which is Newcastle United

Ronaldo has this obsession of breaking every record. That's what motivates him and keeping him going. His second spell at united has put a dent on his goal ratio and also not playing in the champions league. I think he will stay in Europe, probably Portugal or Italy.

He should look to head up a consortium to buy Man United.
Now that really would complete the saga

This. I still think there is a good striker for someone in there, but the sort of clubs who he would improve just can't afford him.

Chelsea may not qualify for next UCL so not sure what's the point of just playing knockouts this year as they may not go far either, so he be stuck again without UCL, granted things can change in second half of season but still looks a big risk.

He was on 500k a week at Man Utd.

No club in their right mind will pay him that.

Manchester United co-owner Avram Glazer has spoken for the first time since announcing the club could be for sale.

Sky News tracked him down near his home in West Palm Beach, Florida, and he spoke of finding "strategic alternatives" for the club and also responded to criticism by Cristiano Ronaldo.

He did not answer when asked why he was now considering selling, saying only that "the board went through a process" and decided now was the time to explore their options.

The club on Wednesday confirmed a Sky News exclusive that it was starting a review designed to boost the club's success - which included looking at a potential sale.

Many Manchester United fans have long campaigned against the club's American owners and accused them of a lack of investment and saddling the club with too much debt.

The club's facilities, manager Erik ten Hag and the attitude of the Glazers were also criticised by Cristiano Ronaldo in a recent interview with Piers Morgan.

The Glazers were reportedly furious at the remarks and Ronaldo this week left United immediately by mutual consent.

Manchester United's hunt for new owners may put fans in moral bind if state cash proves the answer

But Avram Glazer refused to be drawn on the striker's claim - echoed by many fans - that his family "don't care about the club".

He told Sky News: "Well, I'll tell you about Cristiano Ronaldo - he's a great Manchester United player, I appreciate everything he's done for the club and I wish him the best luck in the future."

Mr Glazer then blanked a question on why the Portuguese player had to leave the club and walked away into a restaurant.

Jaded fans of Manchester United will be hopeful better days could be around the corner after years of underachievement since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.

However, the Glazers ending their 17-year ownership is not guaranteed.

A partial sale to new investors, with money being raised to redevelopment Old Trafford, is one potential outcome, says Sky's City editor Mark Kleinman.

If the Glazers do pull out of the club entirely, potential buyers include British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a Manchester-born fan of the club.

He said in the summer he would be interested if the club was up for sale, but in October revealed he'd met the Glazers and they "don't want to sell".

Billionaires from around the world would also likely be linked to bids, as would sovereign investors hoping to emulate the takeover at Newcastle United - now owned by Saudi state-backed investors.

Manchester United's review comes a few weeks after Liverpool's US owners said they were also open to offers and already had interest from groups looking to buy shares.

Football star Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United parted ways with a "mutual agreement" on Tuesday. It took place after Ronaldo's grave accusations, in a recent interview with British journalist Piers Morgan, against the club and its current manager Eric ten Hag sparked controversy. In the same interview, Ronaldo had also revealed that a Saudi Arabia club had offered him a two-year contract worth around 360 million dollars. However, the football giant added that he declined the offer.

Speaking on the same topic, Saudi Sports minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal said that he has not idea about the bid.

"I don't know, that's a straight answer. I read the same thing as you read in the news. I don't know what his future plans are," said the minister in an interview to CNN.

When asked if he would like to see Ronaldo playing in Saudi Arabia, he said: "Why not? We have a strong league. In each team we have seven foreign players playing and we are looking to increase that. Our teams play at the top level in Asia. Football is strong in Saudi. So why not?"

In the interview to Piers Morgan, Ronaldo had criticised Manchester United over a number of issues. He had even alleged that a few of the club bosses are trying to 'force him out'.

After the two parties went their different ways, it has been revealed that Ronaldo won't be getting any of the GBP 17 million that he was supposed to earn in the remainder of this season.

Some rumours that teams in Qatar are looking to sign him.

If he takes a lucrative offer for the commercial aspect, sparsely plays he's got another World Cup in him...

I think it all depends on how much fire he has left in the belly.

Does he want it easy and get paid a fortune to play in a low quality league or does he still have that desire to play in the Champions League and at the highest level.

Chelsea may not qualify for next UCL so not sure what's the point of just playing knockouts this year as they may not go far either, so he be stuck again without UCL, granted things can change in second half of season but still looks a big risk.

Chelsea need a goalscorer, he would be a perfect fit imo. He could win them the CL and get top 4 too.

But it seems Saudi club will pay him huge amounts to play for them. Both good options imo.

There aren’t many clubs playing in the Champions League who could afford his wages, or would want him frankly (after everything).

I know that another couple of seasons in the CL to round off his career is Ronaldo’s dream, but I think it’s more likely he ends up in Saudi where I’m sure he will be wildly popular.

He cant have his cake and eat it too

Nobody in europe will pay the wages he wants His careers over here

Cristiano Ronaldo gets mammoth $225 million offer from Saudi Arabia club Al Nassr after Manchester United exit

Cristiano Ronaldo has been handed an offer to play on into his 40s with Saudi Arabian giants Al Nassr ready to hand him a three year deal after the World Cup, according to CBS Sports sources.

Ronaldo is a free agent following the termination of his contract with Manchester United earlier this week, and he has long been of interest to Al Nassr, as well as other clubs in the Middle East.

CBS Sports revealed in August that that interest would extend beyond the World Cup, with the 37-year-old having been keen to play at Europe's highest level going into his fifth tournament.

In Portugal's opening game against Ghana Ronaldo set another record on the international stage, scoring in his fifth World Cup.

Al Nassr hope that following the tournament Ronaldo will be keen to break new ground and after extensive talks with his representatives sources close to the club say their interest is "stronger than ever."

The terms on offer to Ronaldo are understood to be worth $75 million a year.

Due to contact being initiated over the summer, it is believed talks are relatively advanced but awaiting Ronaldo's final decision.

Should he choose to accept the offer, sources tell CBS a deal would not take long to finalize.

Ronaldo asked to leave Manchester United in the summer, but none of Europe's biggest clubs were prepared to offer him the platform of Champions League football that he craved.

Following an explosive interview with Talk TV in which he accused United of "betraying" him and said he did not respect head coach Erik ten Hag -- statements which could have led to the club sacking him if a mutual termination had not been agreed -- it appears unlikely that the market has grown among the continent's elite.

Al Nassr are one of SaudI Arabia, and indeed Asia's, most successful clubs, winning nine league titles and reaching the final of the AFC Champions League in 1995.

Their great rivals Al Hilal have also been linked with a move for Ronaldo. Al Nassr's offer is understood to be the only formal contract offered to the Portugal international, whose future is expected to remain unresolved until after the World Cup.

The record goalscorer in men's international football, Ronaldo struggled to make a major impact to Manchester United's success after joining them from Juventus in the summer of 2021.

Though he was their top scorer last season with 24 goals in 38 games across all competitions, United slipped from second in the Premier League the previous season to sixth.

Erik ten Hag's appointment saw Ronaldo confined to a fringe role, starting just four top flight matches.

Prior to the interview that led to his departure the veteran striker had been involved in several other controversies, leaving the ground early during a pre-season friendly and refusing to enter the game as a substitute in a defeat to Tottenham.

TEAMtalk has learned of the true intentions of Cristiano Ronaldo as the striker prepares to open a new chapter, and we understand a ‘real’ offer is likely to be snubbed in favour of a move that could haunt Man Utd.

Ronaldo is officially a free agent after his second stint at Manchester United concluded by mutual agreement. The 37-year-old lasted less than six months under Erik ten Hag who never looked the right manager for an ageing superstar.

An emotional return to Sporting Lisbon has been touted. However, the club where Ronaldo made his professional debut don’t have a Champions League campaign to offer having finished third in their group.

Agent Jorge Mendes is understood to have offered his client back to Real Madrid. While president Florentino Perez may be on board, manager Carlo Ancelotti isn’t, according to Marca.

It’s a similar story regarding Chelsea’s interest, with our transfer insider, Graeme Bailey, detailing what the future holds for the global icon.

Ronaldo has received a formal offer to join Saudi Arabian side, Al Nassr. The Guardian and CBS Sports broke the news, with Ronaldo in line to earn an incredible £1.2m-per-week if he moved to the Middle East.

Bailey confirmed the Saudi interest is very real, though stressed Ronaldo has bigger ambitions in mind.

Ace footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed to a sensational contract worth £172.9 million annually with Saudi Arabia's Al Nassr club, according to a Daily Mail report.

The 37-year-old's contract with Manchester United was terminated earlier this month due to a rocky relationship with the club's management that got even worse after he made several contentious claims in a TV interview with Piers Morgan.

And now, according to Spanish tabloid outlet Marca, Ronaldo is rumoured to have sensationally signed to a two-and-a-half-year deal with Al Nassr - earning an eye-watering £172.9million per year - that will see him play until the age of 40.

If Chelsea sign him, then it's official that Todd Boly knows nothing about football.

The natural process would be a few years in the Middle East. I don't think he'll want to waste his legacy with Man Utd by playing a year or two with Chelsea. The Arab's will also pay him much more money then anything Chelsea can offer. Another thing is Chelsea are no way near being EPL contenders at the moment.

Cristiano Ronaldo said he was involved in a verbal spat with a South Korean player who criticised him for failing to leave the field quickly enough when he was substituted during Portugal's 2-1 World Cup defeat on Friday. Portugal still topped Group H despite the result, which also sent South Korea into the last 16, but Ronaldo looked annoyed as he slowly walked off when his number went up in the 65th minute. "It happened when I was substituted. The Korean player was telling me to go off more quickly and I told him to be quiet, because he hasn't got any authority," Ronaldo told reporters.

"If I wasn't going quickly enough, it was up to the referee to say so. There shouldn't be any controversy, it was just in the heat of the moment."

Portugal coach Fernando Santos said: "He was angry with the player from Korea and everyone saw that.

"The player was insulting him, telling him to go away (get off the pitch) so that's why he was angry and everyone saw that.

"I saw the interaction with the Korean player and have no doubt about it."

South Korean midfielder Hwang In-beom attempted to play down the controversy.

"I didn't see it, I was too tired," he said. "I was looking at the ground, so I didn't see it and I have nothing to say."

He is the only player from a top team in there. Another new low for Ronaldo lol.

Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr have made a huge offer to sign Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo after the World Cup.

A number of clubs have expressed interest in him, with Al-Nassr's offer the biggest at around 200m euros a year, according to reports.

Ronaldo, 37, is a free agent after his Manchester United contract was terminated last month following a controversial interview.

He criticised the club and said he had "no respect" for manager Erik ten Hag.

In the interview with TalkTV, he also said he turned down a £305m deal to join a Saudi Arabian club in the summer - a move that would have seen him become the highest-paid footballer in the world.

It is understood Ronaldo is fully committed to Portugal's World Cup campaign and is not intending to make a decision about his future plans until that is over.

Portugal face Switzerland in the last 16 in Qatar on Tuesday.

Earlier in the tournament, Ronaldo became the first man to score at five World Cups as he converted a penalty in their 3-2 group stage win against Ghana.

Although he is a free agent, Ronaldo is not allowed to sign for a new club until 1 January as he was contracted to United when the last transfer window closed.

He must also serve a two-game ban at domestic level with any new club - in England or abroad - for knocking a phone out of an Everton fan's hand last season.

Ronaldo scored 145 goals in 346 appearances for United over two spells, leaving for Real Madrid in 2009 before returning to Old Trafford from Juventus in 2021.

He had just over seven months remaining on his £500,000-a-week contract with United.

He really left Man United to play in Saudi Arabia. I thought he wanted to play champions league lol.

Portugal coach Fernando Santos says he "really didn't like" Cristiano Ronaldo's reaction to being substituted in the World Cup defeat by South Korea.

Ronaldo was taken off 65 minutes into their final group-stage defeat and has denied directing an outburst towards his coach.

Santos refused to comment on reports Ronaldo could be dropped for Tuesday's last-16 match with Switzerland.

"I am not worried if information is right or wrong," said Santos.

"I do not read this type of information. I am focused on my team. We are focusing on training and not paying attention to any polls [in the Portuguese media].

"Yes, I did not like it, not at all [Ronaldo's outburst]. I really did not like it and from that moment on that issue [it] is finished."

He is embarrassing himself now. Throwing tantrums left, right & center because his gigantic ego cannot accept the fact that he is not the player he once was & managers will not bend over backwards to please him.

He is having issues with both Ten Haag & the Portugal coach but his cheerleaders including Piers Morgan would still defend him & make him look a victim.

His money driven move to Saudi Arabia also makes his rant against Man United funny. You can’t talk about standards & drive & then go & retire in Saudi league.

BREAKING: Cristiano Ronaldo starts on the bench for #POR vs Switzerland...

That's exactly why I would never take him at Arsenal. I'd much rather start Nketiah over him.

Portugal looking a far better side all over the pitch with Ronaldo sat on the bench in his bib.

He’s become an absolute manbaby.

I think this maybe his last international competition i can see Portugal taking a stance now and moving on from him.

Portugal fans clearly still love him.

Great reception as he came on.

Hope he scores because there will be crazy scenes

I am just laughing at the plebs who keep mentioning Ronaldo’s ego, I mean so what? Most of the all time great sportsmen have a massive ego!

Comes on as a sub… another direct free kick blasted straight into the wall. His trademark :)

It's fine to have an ego as long as your massive ego doesn't get in the way of the betterment of the team.

You mean like Messi pulling a strop and resigning from Argentianan duty, only to come back and play for Argentina?

Whether Messi or Ronaldo, all the greats have bad experiences/disagreements within their respective teams, the only difference is CR7 made his views public.

Messi isn't a massive egomaniac and a narcissist. Sure he has an ego. Every great does, but he is a team player. Ronaldo is a selfish individual who is all about his own personal stats and accolades. The guy went on live television crying (who the hell does that?) because he wasn't playing anymore. His demise is so sweet.

Please go have a look at some of the live TV Interviews by Maradonna - CR7's interview doesn't hold a candle.

And again, who cares, Messi is less of an egomanic/narcissist vs Ronaldo? Not an objective characteristic, but purley subjective. Might as well claim Messi isn't a great player cos he was a tax evader and cannot speak English. Case closed.

What's next for Ronaldo? I think he should hang up his boots for national duty. He is past his prime.

However, he can still play league football. He can maybe play in middle east or North America. Beckham played in MLS during his final years.

You can say whatever, but the fact remains that CR7 is done! That his replacement totally rejuvenated the team & produced the best performance of the tournament shows that Portugal doesn’t need Ronaldo anymore. CR7 has no option but to swallow that massive ego & get accustomed to being benched.

Tchau Obrigado Ronaldo!

It is not subjective. I have followed both Messi and Ronaldo's careers from the beginning. I am a Man United fan and I have seen Ronaldo play on a weekly basis. Ask any football fan "who has a bigger ego between Ronaldo and Messi?" Everyone with the exception of some biased Ronaldo fans will say that Ronaldo has a bigger ego. This is a player who has visibly got upset at a team mate scoring because he didn't score himself. Is that a team player?

Ronaldo and his fans need to accept that he is done as a top level player. Father time catches up to everyone and it has caught up to him. When he was a top player, you could put up with his massive ego, but now that he is stinking up the place every game, his massive ego is becoming a massive hindrance to his teams.

Visibly upset is Messi who weeped like a child, live on TV, because the club that made him didn't want him anymore. He refused a pay cut at first (selfishness personified), demanded a pay rise (greed personified) then accepted a pay cut cos he was desperate to stay. Of course too late by then. Visibly upset is Messi who bailed on his national team cos he was upset Argentina lost a tournament. Not a team player by any account.

Ronaldo simply wants to come off the bench, what's wrong with this? It shows he still has the desire, drive, and passion to play even at 37, how is this even construed as a negative aspect?

Messi vs. Ronaldo debate is a pointless one, you are still going on about Ronaldo's ego, who cares about ego? Ego has no bearing on talent or skill - your judgement of Ronaldo is based on his character, and if you think this is a fair way to judge a player, then Messi's criminal intent to defraud the tax man trumps an ego in terms of character.

Time catches up with everyone. The reason why no European club will sign Ronaldo is not because of his ego, but because he is past his best and in the twilight of his career - the return on any investment in buying one of the all time great players is pretty much down to merchandise than performance. The same goes for Messi who is now rumoured to play at Miami.

Any football fan will appreciate both Messi and Ronalado, their skill, talent, and contribution to the game. So enjoy these last few years because I sincerely doubt we will ever see 2 players dominate a generation of football again.

Every superstar has an ego in fact some have superego you name it Zidane's ego made him let loose at the grandest of stage, Sachin dragged himself while chasing that elusive number, Undertaker lumbered on only to be humiliated by Reigns, Akhtar after being spanked by Taylor announced retirement mid tournament, hopefully Ronaldo will accept this gracefully

Cristiano Ronaldo: Portugal boss Fernando Santos says forward's role 'to be defined' after dropping him

Asked about Ronaldo after the Switzerland win, Portugal boss Fernando Santos said: "That is still something that has to be defined.

"I have a very close relationship with him - I always have, I have known him since he was 19 years old.

"This relationship only develops, Ronaldo and I never interpret the human aspect of that of manager and player (in relation to) what we have to do during the match.

"I will always consider in my role that he is an important player to have in the team."

When asked directly if Ronaldo would play against Morocco, Santos replied bullishly: "Ronaldo will definitely (be involved), all the players on the bench can be used, if they are not in the starting line-up they can play later.

"It is important to look at the example of this player's history, he is one of the best players in the world at playing professionally, being captain - all we have to do is think about this team collectively."

Ronaldo breezed through the post-match interview area with a huge grin on his face, only responding to one question: Was he happy? "Of course, of course," he said with a smile. "Portugal won."

Meanwhile, Ronaldo's replacement Ramos says the former Real Madrid forward remains the team's "leader".

The 21-year-old said: "Cristiano Ronaldo talks to me and everyone in the team. He's our leader and always tries to help.

"I don't know if I will start the next game, that's up to the coach, I have to work as hard as I can and then we'll see."

"Do you think anyone likes to be on the bench?" Fernandes said. "I don't think Cristiano would be happy. If the manager put me on the bench in the next game, I would be angry."

He added: "We won the first two games with Cristiano in the first 11, and it could be that if Cristiano played, he could score three goals and no one would be speaking about Cristiano being on the bench.

"Cristiano is doing his job, he's doing his part, he's happy with the result because the goal for everyone is to go as far as possible.

"I don't think people should be talking about Cristiano and why he's not playing, because when Cristiano plays and the team wins, no one talks about that," Fernandes continued.

"When Cristiano plays and the team loses, everyone talks.[He is] the most famous player in the world. No one is more famous than Cristiano in sports, not in football, in sports."

Ronaldo is done. But I have a feeling he might pull off a super sub performance later in the tournament.

Cristiano Ronaldo cut an isolated figure after Portugal's stunning 6-1 victory over Switzerland on Tuesday night as he walked off the pitch while his team-mates continued to celebrate their stunning performance on the field.

The Portuguese captain made his own way to the dressing room following the game having been dropped by coach Fernando Santos.

Portugal had no issues without him in the side as they raced into a 5-1 lead in his absence - with his replacement Goncalo Ramos scoring a hat-trick - before he was introduced having started on the bench in a knockout game for his country for the first time since Euro 2008.

In a clip released after Portugal blew away Switzerland at the Lusail Stadium, Portuguese players can be seen applauding on the pitch as they soak up the acclaim of their fans following a sensational display.

But apart from his colleagues is Ronaldo, who is slowly making his way across the pitch towards the Portuguese tunnel.

The 37-year-old proceeds to exit the pitch on his own and notably his team-mates neglect to join him as they celebrate jubilantly as a group.

Prior to kick-off much of the talk about Portugal's last 16 clash naturally concerned the five-time Ballon d'Or winner as debate raged over why he had been dropped from the side.

Some - including Jamie Carragher - were of the opinion that his omission came as a result of his poor performances in the tournament so far.

Despite becoming the first male player to score at five World Cup tournaments, his only goal came from a penalty in the win over Ghana.

He had also been included in Sofascore's worst team of the group stage ratings, where he was placed up front with an average rating of 6.37 across his three matches.

But others have pointed to the fact that there appeared to be words exchanged between Ronaldo and coach Santos as he was hooked against South Korea in Portugal's final group game.

Santos left the player out of his starting XI just one day after insisting he 'didn't like' the free agent's angry reaction to being taken off in the 2-1 defeat to Son Heung-min's side.

He claimed after the win over Switzerland that Ronaldo was dropped to the bench for tactical reasons rather than as a result of his conduct after being subbed against South Korea.

Santos had been facing increasing pressure to bench the star, with the likes of Holland legend Frank de Boer leading the calls for him to be left out if Portugal were to succeed in Qatar.

The Dutch legend said: 'It's not only Ronaldo, it's everything that comes with him. Everybody has an opinion. The weight you get on your shoulders when you leave him out... you have to respond to that. Everybody will only talk about Cristiano Ronaldo and nothing else.

The difference between Ronaldo & Messi, and why comparing the two has always been a joke, is that Ronaldo is nothing without goals.

In terms of passing, vision & overall playmaking, he is not even among the top 100 players in history.

This is why he has aged badly. Now that he has lost his pace & sharpness, he is not useful for any top team. He is more of a hindrance.

On the other hand, Messi is probably the best playmaker ever. He is an incredible player even if you take all his goals away.

You have two players who were both lethal goal scorers but only one of them was also a genius playmaker, & that is why Messi has always been comfortably the better player.

The way Messi is playing in this World Cup or has played this season for PSG, any team in the world would have him. Unlike Ronaldo, Messi without his pace & sharpness in front of goal is not a hindrance to the team.

He might go to MLS when his contract expires but it will be due to non-footballing reasons.

He can still dominate at the highest level for another 2-3 years, but at 36, it is not good business for teams to pay such astronomical wages.

Messi earns more than €700k per week at PSG. You can have 3-4 young players on this money instead.

On the other hand, not only is Ronaldo a problem due to his wages, he is also a problem on the pitch, & that is the difference between Messi & Ronaldo.

It was always obvious that Messi was going to age better than Ronaldo & that is because Messi has the talent & skill to drop into midfield as he gets old but Ronaldo doesn’t.

I somehow read the title as who is the next Cr7 lol.

I think he needs to be a team player right now and do what's best for his country if not he will have slightly tarnished ending.

Cristiano Ronaldo Breaks Silence On Saudi Club Transfer Rumours
Cristiano Ronaldo has broken the silence on the rumour linking him with a big-money move to Saudia Arabia club Al Nassr.

Released by Manchester United after his contract was terminated, Cristiano Ronaldo is the only player in the Portugal squad at the FIFA World Cup 2022 who is without a club. In what has been a drama-filled season for Ronaldo, who has barely started for United, there haven't been many clubs that the Portuguese has been linked to since leaving the Red Devils. However, a whopping 200 million Euros per year salary offer has reportedly come from Saudi Arabia club Al Nassr. While some reports suggest that a deal between the two parties has already been reached, the 37-year-old forward has finally broken the silence on the matter.

As per multiple reports, Ronaldo denied having reached an agreement with Al Nassr. When asked about the rumours, the 5-time Ballon d'Or winner said that the news was false.

Ronaldo has had a tumultuous time over the last few months. He hasn't just had a falling out with Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag but also with the club's bosses, some of allegedly were trying to force the striker out of the club. In the end, Ronaldo and United decided to go their separate ways.

The coveted forward was expected to steer Portugal's campaign forward in the FIFA World Cup 2022 but it was without him that the team was able to play at its best. Ronaldo started all of Portugal's group matches, scoring a penalty against Ghana. In their first knockout match, the Round of 16 clash against Switzerland, Ronaldo was dropped in favour of Goncalo Ramos who netted a hat-trick in his side's 6-1 win.

As for Ronaldo, it doesn't look like he will be in the starting XI against Morocco in Portugal's quarter-final. With his goalscoring form fading off, it could be tough for the goalscoring icon to find a new top club after the World Cup is over.

One of the greatest players ever. The last couple of years have not been great for him from a football pov, but these years are nothing compared to the previous 15-18 years where he was just phenomenal. It's easy to forget those years looking at the current past.

Just look at his fitness, he is still the fittest player in their squad. Only this thing is admirable. And everything has an end and he is at the end of his long and fruitful career.

The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) has denied that Cristiano Ronaldo threatened to leave the World Cup.

Portuguese publication Record claims the forward, 37, made the threat after being told he would not start their last-16 game against Switzerland.

In the previous game against South Korea, the Portugal captain reacted angrily when he was substituted.

The FPF said: "At no time did Cristiano Ronaldo threaten to leave the national team during the stay in Qatar."

Ronaldo left Manchester United by mutual agreement before Portugal's World Cup opener after a controversial interview in which the five-time Ballon d'Or winner criticised the club.

Ronaldo was substituted off the field in both of Portugal's opening games and coach Fernando Santos said he "didn't like" Ronaldo's reaction when he was again replaced during the 2-1 group defeat by South Korea.

Goncalo Ramos started instead of Ronaldo against Switzerland and the 21-year-old scored a hat-trick in the 6-1 victory.

Ronaldo, who is Portugal's most-capped player (195) and all-time leading goalscorer (118), was used as a late substitute in that game but, afterwards left the field while his team-mates were still celebrating.

"Cristiano Ronaldo builds up a unique track record every day at the service of the national team and the country, which must be respected," added the FPF.

"The degree of dedication of the player most capped by Portugal was again demonstrated - if necessary - in the victory against Switzerland, in the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup."

Portugal face Morocco in the quarter-finals on Saturday (15:00 GMT).

Ronaldo did not train with the other substitutes after Wednesday's game, instead taking part in a gym session alongside those that started against Switzerland.

Official statement from Portuguese FA

“Reports claiming Cristiano Ronaldo threatened to leave the national team during a conversation with Fernando Santos are not true — FPF clarifies that at no time did Cristiano threaten to leave the national team in Qatar”.

Erik ten Hag only discovered Cristiano Ronaldo wanted to leave Manchester United when he saw the interview where the Portuguese forward said he had "no respect" for the Dutch manager.

Ronaldo gave the controversial interview in November in which the 37-year-old also criticised the club and said he "felt betrayed".

The forward has since left United in a "mutually agreed" exit.

"Until that moment he never told me 'I want to leave'," said Ten Hag

Speaking to UK journalists for the first time about Ronaldo's exit on United's mid-season trip to Spain, Ten Hag said that once he saw the interview there was no way back for the player.

"I have seen most of it," the United manager said. "I have to do it. It is part of my job.

"The interview, I think, as a club you can't accept. To make that step he knew the consequences.

"But before he never told me. Until that moment he never told me 'I want to leave'."

Ronaldo did tell Ten Hag he might leave the club in the summer, when the transfer window was open, after he had been given permission to have extra time off as his family tried to deal with the aftermath of the tragic death of his baby son.

"In the summer we had one talk," said Ten Hag.

"He came in and said 'I will tell you in seven days if I want to stay'. He came back and said he did. Until that moment [the interview] I never heard anything [else]."

There are plenty of observers who feel the situation has worked out quite well for Ten Hag.

His position has been strengthened because the club stood behind him when he dropped Ronaldo for refusing to come off the bench during the victory against Tottenham in October.

And now he no longer has to deal with someone capable of generating headlines like no other player in the game, as well as the issue of how to get Ronaldo to carry out his instructions to press high up the pitch.

However, Ten Hag does not see it like that and wanted Ronaldo to stay.

"I like to work with world-class players," he said. "I know they can make a difference and help you to achieve your objectives.

"I wanted him to stay from the first moment until now. I did everything to bring him into the team because I value his quality. We wanted him to be part of our project and for him to contribute to Manchester United because he is a great player and has such a great history."

It is also possible a contract extension could have been offered to Ronaldo later in the season had the five-time Ballon d'Or winner indicated a willingness to sign one.

Ten Hag says he was not against the idea of a new contract. "Definitely not," he said. "Last year he scored 24 goals. What does this team need? We need goals."

Ten Hag's first utterances on the Ronaldo fallout were to United's in-house TV channel this week and amounted to six words.

"He's gone and it's the past."

Even today, it was clear he would prefer not to be talking about it.

"I don't want to spend energy on that. It is the past. We want a new future of Manchester United and he didn't want to be part of it," he said.

"All my accountability is in favour of the club and the team. They are the decisions I have to make and it doesn't matter which person it is.

"It is about how we perform now. I believe our performances will confirm that we are going in the right direction."

I wonder if that's the last time we will see him in Portugal colours.

Hasn't looked very happy with things at the World Cup.

Forget about international retirement, he should retire from football. He has had a great career, he is an ATG, but he is clearly on a terminal decline. He is unlikely to find a top club again. He also doesn't need the money to play in Saudi Arabia. He should do the honorable thing and retire.

Can see him going back to Serie A tbh. And who knows, maybe in a year when he's in better shape he could be useful goal scorer.

Saudi Arabia could be a option given the absurd money they're willing to pay but I don't think he will go for obvious reasons that we know about.

He will be nearly 39 in a year's time. I doubt he would get better. Father times catches up to everyone.

Serie A is probably the only top European league where Ronaldo can still be somewhat effective, as it is a slow league. But days of Ronaldo starting week in and week out are long gone, and he needs to accept that.

There is nothing to prove, he had a legendary career and changed the footballing culture in his country for generations to come, a small nation like Portugal thrived and went from strength to strength, his impact will be felt for decades in his nation and at the club level, he has won everywhere. It would be unwise not to take the big bag from the arabs, many moral warriors here but that bag may push his net worth closer to 1 billion dollars

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is keen to find a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo when the transfer window opens next month.

Ten Hag has already admitted he did not want to lose the striker, 37, but his destructive interview with Piers Morgan made it impossible to keep him.

Ronaldo's exit means United are short on numbers up front and Ten Hag will assess top-level number nine options.

"We will do everything in our power [to sign the right player]," he said.

While they do not exactly fit the template, Ten Hag likes fellow Dutchman Cody Gakpo, 23, at PSV Eindhoven, and Benfica's 21-year-old frontman Goncalo Ramos, who scored a hat-trick when he replaced Ronaldo in the Portugal side for their World Cup last-16 win against Switzerland.

"I cannot give comments on specific players," added the United boss. "I will never do that. Players have contracts and I respect that.

"We are doing research on every opportunity and we do everything we can if that opportunity is there to contract them."

Persuading clubs to release players in January has never been easy and United sources have felt most potential buyers have been biding their time until the full impact of World Cup performances is known.

The Old Trafford outfit spent more than anticipated in the summer, bringing in Antony, Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez, although Ronaldo's salary being removed from the wage bill following his departure from the club does mean a multi-million pound saving over the remainder of the season.

In the short-term though, Anthony Martial has become a key figure.

The France forward has flattered to deceive throughout his seven-year United career. A loan move to Sevilla in the second half of last season failed to trigger a permanent move and, after an impressive pre-season was ruined by a hamstring injury, the 27-year-old has managed just two Premier League starts.

However, with Ronaldo gone, Jadon Sancho on a fitness programme following injury and Marcus Rashford and Antony having been on World Cup duty, Martial is likely to be a key figure when the domestic campaign resumes against Burnley in the EFL Cup on 21 December.

"We have seen, when he is available, he has a massive impact on our game," said Ten Hag.

"He has less than 300 minutes [this season] and has four goals and two assists. That's a really good record.

"The first challenge for him is to be available and fit. He has to be responsible for it, but we have to support him in all the ways we can."

Hard to say no the amount of money that Saudi is offering. most would take it. Or go to the MLS im sure they will pay alot to have him.

And he wont be a top player in the big leagues of Europe however if he comes to the MLS right now, he will probably be the best player.
