[VIDEOS] Will Australia go ahead with the tour of Pakistan in 2022?

Some positive stuff..

Pat Cummins believes the vast majority of Australia's Test squad will travel to Pakistan but the skipper fully understands if any teammates opt out of the tour.

Cricket Australia (CA) is yet to press players for a final decision regarding the multi-format series in Pakistan, which is slated to begin on March 3 with a Test in Karachi.

But selectors have started to thrash out plans for a busy couple of months, when Australia's white-ball series against New Zealand and Sri Lanka will be quickly followed by the Pakistan tour then the IPL.

Players and staff have been given a preliminary briefing about security measures in Pakistan before Australia's first tour of the nation since 1998.

"Still a bit to work through ... but at this stage it's all looking really positive," Cummins said.

"The amount of work the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) has put into it is fantastic.

"It's shaping up as, I think just about everyone - if not all - will go.

"If some players need to make a choice, it's absolutely fine that they won't be there.

"Still got a bit of water to go under the bridge, a bit more info to gather and get around to everyone."

In February, Australia's best players will likely be split into a white-ball squad at home and a Test touring party in Pakistan.

Cummins is concerned about bubble fatigue, knowing freedoms for players will likely continue to be restricted because of COVID-19.

"We're two years in, so we've learned a lot," he said.

"But it also means probably some players are further along their tether.

"It's unprecedented times, we just have to make sure we look after each other.

"Conversations are happening. The selectors have been great along with the coaching staff."

This summer marks the first time Cummins has donned the baggy green since losing to India a year ago, while it is the first five-Test series during the COVID-19 era.

Cummins said he doubted whether the rivals would get through five Tests, especially after Travis Head contracted coronavirus.

"And just about everyone I know in Sydney has COVID," Cummins said.

"We've been tested just about every day for the last 20 days.

"It's just been fantastic that we've got through the series."

Much more positive. :)

Australia has a great chance in Rawalpindi and Karachi because fast bowlers mostly takes wickets on these pitches.

They should tour. Great chance to win a series in the SC.
They will have to play exceptionally well to win in Pakistan, but yes it is entirely possible.

Had this series been in the UAE however, I wouldn’t give them even a semblance of a chance. The likes of Starc, Cummins, Hazlewood etc don’t have the skillset to turn up in the UAE.

I expect only 2 or 3 people not to tour if the tour does go ahead one of Warner or Smith won't go.

I will not trust them to tour this time as well
Omicron will be an excuse this time around

Heading towards a 2nd/3rd string squad at best.

That is if they don't use Covid as the reason for not touring.

looks like Aussies will be looking for excuses not to tour as usual.

What do we have in place if they cite bogus reasons to not tour?

Do we have a gaurentee of monetary compensation?

Do we have ICC’s word that full points will be given to Pakistan in the WTC?

Testing times for Rameez. It’s all fun and games to blame Wasim Khan but what has he done to ensure PCB don’t repeat the mistakes of the past? I don’t think his vlogs or Twitter outbursts will solve the issues.

They won’t come - let’s accept it. Pakistan and PCB can do no more. Please don’t beg them to come. All assurances have been given. They have checked the security. Please do not do anything more. Welcome if they come. Do one if you don’t want to come. Stick two fingers up rather then moan and whinge and move on to the next series.

They have a ready made excuse. Omicron. Australians have been the most strict country in the world regards covid rules so does anyone really believe they will find it hard to use covid as the excuse to back out of a tour they are unsure about??

It’s not happening and when it doesn’t why waste time analysing why they didn’t come? Let’s show some pride and use the two finger option to reflect our views and move on.

Yesterday David Gower in BT Sports Ashes commentary was very critical of England for refusing to tour Pakistan last year. I think pressure will be huge on Australia to tour and if they refuse heavy criticism will follow. Touring Pakistan has become a question of morality now more than security. I think keeping all this in mind, Australia will tour.

Question of Morality

Rich coming from Indian fans who justify India not playing Pakistan except in ICC events

And whose fault is that India don't play Pakistan? I mean we were playing regularly from 2003-2007 both home and away (in Pakistan). What has changed since 2008 and why India refused to play? Ever wondered?

It’s not Pakistan’s fault

Don’t lie with this pro-Indian narrative. No sane people or government support terrorism

Pat Cummins began his tenure as Australia's Test captain with an emphatic Ashes series triumph but the 28-year-old knows his team must succeed overseas, particularly in the subcontinent, to be counted among the best.

Assuming the role after Tim Paine resigned over a 'sexting' scandal, Cummins not only oversaw Australia's 4-0 romp against England but also finished as the highest wicket-taker in the five-match series.

Australia will face vastly different conditions when it visits Pakistan for a full tour, its first to the South Asian country since 1998, beginning with three Tests in March.

It is also scheduled to tour Sri Lanka and India later this year.

"That's the next big challenge," Cummins told reporters on Monday.

Root sacrifices opportunity to enter IPL auction in a bid to help England

England's 0-4 Ashes collapse 'has to be rock bottom', says Sir Alastair Cook

"I think the best teams in the past not only won at home but they were really successful overseas as well.

"Pakistan next on the radar for us, it's going to be huge.

"Lots of our young players have not played a lot overseas. Even in the last couple of years, I don't think we played a Test overseas.

"(We are) excited to go and try our ways in different conditions."

While Cummins made an immediate impact as captain, coach Justin Langer's future looks uncertain once his contract expires after the Pakistan tour.

Langer appeared on sticky wicket last year amid reports that his coaching style had caused dressing room discontentment.

The former Test batter then termed it a "wake-up call" and has since taken a low-key role in guiding Australia to its maiden T20 World Cup title last year and overseeing its Ashes victory.

Langer has expressed his desire to continue in the job and Cummins said after Sunday's victory in the fifth Test in Hobart that it would be "nice to have clarity" on the situation.

"He's been really great through the World Cup and the Ashes. Honestly, it's not been a talking point at all within the camp," he added.

I wouldn't be surprised they get an anonymous tip last minute and cancel the trip.

Why haven't they provided a confirmation yet ? Looks like they are waiting till the last moment so that they can get some excuse and then refrain from coming to Pakistan.

Probably the most likely scenario.

Though I hope they at least have the decency to give us some notice so we are able to arrange a contingency.

Yes, this time they will..kinda excited to see the tour feels like forever.(including the neutral venue tours)

Peace with TTP has ended. TTP is on the offensives again. 7 attacks on security officials yesterday. One of them in the capital city. Moreover, afghan talibans have also started speaking very anti-pakistan. Hopefully Australian authorities are aware of the new developments in the region.

Way too much exaggeration.

1. I can count 3 attacks, and one of those was outside of FATA or Balochistan.
2. Almost all the deaths were TTP in retaliation, meaning Pakistani SF preparedness is much strong now.
3. These kinds of 2-3 attacks in a day have happened sporadically in the recent past in FATA and Balochistan, and not they are not unheard of.
4. The "peace" with TTP was only a month. Literally no cricket board cares about the TTP deal.
5. Afghan Taliban making anti-Pakistan statements are irrelevant given the context they were made in.

Not unusual and it's happened before where they do some minor attack here and there in far flung areas.

The Islamabad attack was very minor on a cop patrolling outskirts of the city. and it has happened before rarely. In March 2021, June 2021, May 2020 similiar incidents happened - cop in Islamabad attacked. Minor things have always happened, even before Taliban takeover. The amount of civilians/security forces deaths are roughly the same as they were before Taliban takeover on a per month basis as well based on SATP stats. So relax a bit there buddy.

Mohammad Rizwan, the winner of PCB's most valuable cricketer of 2021 award, has welcomed the statements of Australian cricketers, former players and broadcasters looking forward to touring Pakistan.

Australia are scheduled to play three Tests, three ODIs and a T20I in March and April. All three tests are part of ICC World Test Championship, while the three ODIs are part of ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League. This will be their first visit to Pakistan in 24 years.

Rizwan has stated that his energy is already bouncing off the walls to face a competitive side like Australia at home.

"I can feel ripples of excitement for Australia's tour of Pakistan", Rizwan told PCB.

"I have read some very positive remarks from the stakeholders in Australia about the tour to Pakistan. The entire nation of Pakistan is ready to welcome Australia for the historic tour after 24 years."

Mohammad Rizwan is convinced that a strong bond between cricketers of both nations will further magnify the excitement of this notable tour.

"Both nations share a strong connection. Australian cricketers like Usman Khawaja participates in the HBL PSL, and our players (Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf and Mohammad Hasnain) recently featured in the KFC Big Bash League 2021-22. This further strengthens the bond between two countries.

"Matthew Hayden, who was the batting consultant of Pakistan cricket team for ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021, passionately shared his views about Pakistan. Similarly, the love and admiration in Justin Langer, head coach of Australia, eyes was prominent for Pakistan when I met him at the semi-final of the global event in Dubai."

Speaking about the competitiveness of the series, Mohammad Rizwan, who made world record for most T20I runs last year, said: "Australia has recently won the Ashes and they are a strong side, but we have also had a tremendous year and have shined brightly across all formats. These two teams make the perfect recipe for a thrilling and exciting series."

Obviously hearts go out to those affected by the blast today.

On a cricketing note, I think we can safely say it is a huge setback.

After Today blast i don't think they will come .this is the excuse what they wanted

Agreed. It is not so much about safety as it is about perception.

The problem is if they continue to use these in every 6 month blast as an excuse, they will never travel to Pakistan. They will likely not stop any time soon - they have been diminished significantly to not be a huge problem like they used to.

Statistically speaking Pakistan is still safe, but yes these blasts impact the perception. Believe it or not, this level of blasts used to happen when they used to regularly tour Pakistan, and they were about just as rare. But because of media it impacts perception in a much worse way now.

The Aussies were never going to come but now they have got the reason that they were waiting for , then can claim a threat to their lives and no questions will be asked.

Pakistani govt (regardless of the ruling party) does not have the capability and resources to secure every single inch of this immensely thick populated country of 220 million people. I think no country or govt has this luxury and ability.

So, anti pakistan forces who feel like having a raging fire being lit up in their rear ends (namely India) when they see white teams returning to Pak, will try its best to sabotage the event. They might just cause a terror related activity perhaps not close to the cricket stadium but in the same or in another city to cause havoc. This will quite likely result in cancellation or early abandonment of the trip.

I think the chances of this unfortunate event happening is about 25 percent. I hope I am wrong and this never happens. Amen.

And here it goes.

Yeah. Minor stuff still does happen once in a while,.like this, the blast last June in Lahore, stock exchange attack, etc. Every 6 months or so.

Only hope now is that PSL goes well. Aus tour is probably off now but let's see.

Exactly, every 6 odd months you can count on one of these incidents to happen. Their intensity is much less than they used be, but basically yes if Australia were to use these types of incidents as an excuse they will probably never tour Pakistan for the next 50 years. As mentioned, these types of incidents and worse used to happen when they used to regularly tour, even during 90s.

We are in state of war against terrorists since 1997. Only those months/years are peaceful when terrorists had to regroup themselves.

This thread just reinforces the colonial mindset of Pakistani's i.e. we don't deserve to be toured by the Goras, we are not worthy or good enough.

After Today blast i don't think they will come .this is the excuse what they wanted

This will confirm how serious they were about touring Pakistan.

If they were genuine about wanting to tour then today's events shouldn't change that decision.

Are they wrong though, as a nation you’re not quiet there yet so why expect those who come from developed countries to accept bombs going off as normal thing while they play the cricket lol

These players are going to be provided presidential level security and will not be left unprotected to go out on the streets.

This will confirm how serious they were about touring Pakistan.

If they were genuine about wanting to tour then today's events shouldn't change that decision.

If you were going to play the cricket at the local park with your buddies but in the surrounding neighbourhood there was a blast, I doubt you’d continue with your plans. When stuff like this happens, it really is a big ask, even when they were trying to be positive about it all, where do they draw the line when they make such decisions? am going to come even if they’re about to get nuked?

Are they wrong though, as a nation you’re not quiet there yet so why expect those who come from developed countries to accept bombs going off as normal thing while they play the cricket lol

Because they are literally more likely to get hit by lightning. A bomb going off every 6 months killing 5 people, while tragic and not acceptable, still presents a case statistically insignificant number of casualties.

And as mentioned earlier, this intensity of blasts used to happen even when teams used to your Pakistan regularly. Statistically Pakistan is actually more safe now than the times teams used to regularly tour Pakistan. It's because of media, everything is given 100x amplification.

"One of the possible reasons for this incident [Lahore Anarkali blast] is to create hurdles for PSL 7 and the tour of Australia but Inshallah that will not happen" : Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed speaking to Samaa TV

It is very obvious why and who was behind this blast.

However it should not be a reason not to visit, given by fact that security will be top notch .

Jhye Richardson will be ruled out of the Pakistan tour while David Warner will rest from next month’s Twenty20 series against Sri Lanka.

Cricket Australia wants to look after the long-term welfare of Richardson, 25, as a cluttered calendar begins to unfold over the next two years.

Richardson missed the last three Tests of the Ashes after suffering a foot injury while claiming five second-innings wickets during the Adelaide Test.

He was also one of seven players who withdrew from a tour to the West Indies and Bangladesh last year because of harsh quarantine COVID-19 restrictions.

Richardson is more likely to be selected for a shorter tour of Sri Lanka mid-year.

Australia will announce a preliminary squad for the Pakistan tour in the next few days. Apparently Mitchell Starc, who originally was undecided, has withdrawn from IPL, and so he has 'signalled his intention' to tour Pakistan.

Positive Stuff, but the preliminary squad will tell us the real scenario.

I feel either tour will not happen, postponed, or 3rd string team will come
I hope I am wrong
But the way West Indies came to tour Pakistan or quality of other foreign players signed up for PSL, shows their seriousness for playing against Pak in Pak

As usual PCB is being bombastic about Australian tour just like they were for high quality oversees players to participate in Pakistan
Logically speaking I am not confident about this tour

A tour will happen. May be a shortened one.

I hope its a shortened, full strength tour rather than a full 3rd string tour.

The Tests have been scheduled for Karachi, Rawalpindi and Lahore, however negotiations are continuing with the Pakistan Cricket Board about the possibility of playing all three Tests in one venue for health and security reasons.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has responded to Cricket Australia's (CA) request of playing Test series at a single venue.

Australian media reported that CA are in negotiations with the PCB about the possibility of playing all three Tests in one venue.

According to PCB, there has been no suggestion under discussion to hold Australia matches at one venue.

"Not possible to arrange 19 days of international cricket at one venue, Australia will play Tests in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi." PCB official told this correspondent.

"PCB making all efforts to create a safe and secure environment for all participants in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi. NCOC will decide closer to time on crowd attendances," the official added.

It must be noted that Australia will play three Tests, three ODIs and one T20I in Pakistan from 3 March to 5 April. Tests will be part of ICC World Test Championship, ODIs will form part of 2023 World Cup qualification. This will be Australia's first tour of Pakistan since 1998.

Australia set to take full strength squad to Pakistan

Uncertainty surrounds how much Shield cricket Test players will be able to squeeze in before their historic series in Pakistan, but security plans for that tour are 'very robust and thorough'

No Australia player has indicated they want to opt out of touring Pakistan with selectors "well down the track" to finalising a Test squad, despite uncertainty about the resumption of the Marsh Sheffield Shield season.

National selector George Bailey said today he believed security plans were "very, very robust and very, very thorough" after multiple briefings for what would be the first Australian tour of the country since Mark Taylor's men visited in 1998.

"I believe the boards are still working through some of the minor details around that tour, so once that gets the formal tick of approval then we'll announce the squad post that, but we're reasonably well down the track," Bailey told reporters today.

The Test squad will largely pick itself following the successful 4-0 drubbing of England in this summer's Ashes series, with the emergence of Scott Boland as a reliable workhorse allowing selectors to rest Jhye Richardson.

Allrounder Mitch Marsh can be locked in for the touring party after he was rested from next month's Dettol T20 series, as was opener David Warner.

Less clear is how much Shield cricket selectors will have to see to finalise their squad, with the Western Australia border situation further complicating matters.

An 11-day break after the KFC BBL final, as per previous years, would see Shield cricket resuming about February 9.

That would seem to allow a maximum of two Shield rounds before the Australian squad would likely depart in the last week of February ahead of a Test series scheduled to begin on March 3 in Karachi.

"Whether we need to (see any Shield cricket) or not, I'm not entirely sure what opportunity we will get," Bailey said today.

"But the one thing that I think we have to be really just okay with is that we've got to accept what we get at the moment and be flexible.

"I think one of the great things and possibly one of the reasons the players performed so well in the Ashes was there were a number of players who got a good bank of Shield cricket in prior to that series.

"Whether it's for Pakistan or not, you'd certainly hope that there is an opportunity for some Shield cricket at some stage just because of the competition and to continue to see guys improving and getting the opportunity to show their wares."

Travis Head was today named in Australia's T20 squad to face Sri Lanka on the back of his outstanding performances in the Ashes series, and Bailey said there was no reason the reverse couldn't be true with in-form white-ball players pushing for spots on overseas tours.

"I know that the three formats are incredibly different but there are skillsets that do cross over, so if the opportunity arises and we do see a fit, then it certainly won't preclude (selection)," Bailey said.

"There's a number of players – Glenn Maxwell, Mitch Marsh, Ash Agar, Mitch Swepson off the top of my head who, just through the nature of scheduling and different opportunities, have played a lot of one format and not as much of another."

Bailey said the plight of the Western Australian contingent was a concern for selectors following that state's government pushing back its plans to reopen its border to the eastern states.

CA and the WACA are working through plans with individual players to get some time at home and some rest but many face the prospect of not being able to return home again for several months.

"Some I believe are planning to get home as soon as they can, some I believe are working on plans to stay on the eastern seaboard and remain able to move about and have a few more freedoms," Bailey said.

"It just depends on whether some of those guys are planning to be in Pakistan, whether some have got a bit of a longer break at home as well.

"Trying to find times for players to get some rest, some physical rejuvenation, whether that be in the gym, some mental rejuvenation (is important).

"I really feel for the Western Australian contingent at the moment and their struggle to actually to get that time at home."

Foxtel, Kayo to broadcast Pakistan tour

Meanwhile, Foxtel has inked a deal with the Pakistan Cricket Board for Fox Cricket and Kayo Sports to broadcast Australia's drought-breaking tour in March, as well as the next two seasons of the Pakistan Super League.

The deal gives subscribers to Foxtel or Kayo Sports certainty more than five weeks out from the opening Test that they will be able to watch Pat Cummins lead Australia in their first Test match on Pakistani soil since 1998.

The early deal is a welcome change of pace from Foxtel's recent habit of striking last-minute deals for Australia's away tours, although it does come less than 48 hours before the opening match of this year's PSL in Karachi. In addition to the PSL this year and next, the deal includes all Pakistan's home matches until April 2023 to be broadcast on Foxtel and Kayo.

- No stopping this. Emergence of these reports post that lahore incident are really really convincing. It's happening IA.

Aussies with a full strength squad touring pak, used to think it has the same odds as of ind and pak playing a bilateral series these days. Surprised how seriously aussies are considering this. They stopped touring us wayyyy before the terror happenings started in pak but now with them touring us again, think we must be doing something right and definitely came a long way in terms of security.

No. They stopped touring when terror attacks started happening post 2001.

I recently noticed that Australia "A" did tour Pakistan for series in 2005-06 and 2007-08. Yes even 07/08, when the situation was awful. Found that kind of interesting. A lot of big players featured, like Jason Gillespie, MacGill, Phil Jaques and so on.

The Aussie broadcaster Fox Sports has signed a two year agreement with the PCB for the rights to the PSL and the rights to air international cricket in Pakistan. They now have a commercial interest in Pakistan so I doubt they will back down from touring or sending their full strength squad. This also potentially means that the big name Australian Commentators like Warne, Gilchrist, Ponting, Vaughan, Brett Lee might be coming here as well.

I hope the PCB do not give in to the Aussie demands of playing all the test matches at the same venue, that will dilute the viewing and playing experience

As per a Dawn article today, Australia hasn't asked for this. Probably someone in media speculating or spreading false news.

‘We’re all toey about it’: Aussie cricketers concerned by Pakistan terrorist attacks

Some Australian players are becoming increasingly concerned about terrorist attacks in Pakistan, as Cricket Australia finalises details of a tour scheduled for March and April.

Plans are well advanced for Australia’s first tour to Pakistan in almost 24 years, but a number of recent deadly attacks, including one in Lahore last week, where the Australians will spend most of the tour, have unsettled players.

“We’re all toey about it,” one source close to the team told the Herald and The Age.

Associated Press reported that on Thursday a powerful bomb struck a crowded bazaar in Lahore, killing at least three people and wounding 28.

Cricket Australia said in a statement that the safety and wellbeing of players and support staff was its priority.

“Cricket Australia (CA) and the Pakistan Cricket Board continue to work closely in planning the tour and are in regular contact with our respective governments,” the statement said.

“A constructive pre-tour visit of Pakistan was undertaken by CA and Australian Cricketers’ Association (ACA) representatives in December, with detailed planning and preparation for the tour ongoing.

“We continue to have regular and open discussions with our players and support staff on the extensive security, biosecurity and operational arrangements for the tour.”

Pakistan Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid told a press conference in Islamabad on Saturday that the current wave of terrorism had increased about 35 per cent to 38 per cent since August 15, when Taliban fighters had entered the Afghanistan capital of Kabul last year.

The Express Tribune published a report from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), claiming the country has witnessed a 56 per cent surge in militant attacks last year despite a one-month ceasefire by the Pakistan Taliban.

This was after a consistent decline in militant attacks during the previous six years.

“PICSS statistics show that the militants have carried out 294 attacks in 2021 in which 395 people were killed, including 186 civilians and 192 security forces personnel,” the Express Tribune reported.

“At least 629 people were injured, including 400 civilians and 217 security forces personnel. Pakistani security forces also killed 188 militants and arrested at least 222 suspected militants during the year.”

Australia’s chairman of selectors, George Bailey, was reassured by the two player and support staff briefings he sat in on.

“The security sounds very, very robust and very, very thorough,” Bailey said.

Meanwhile, Cricket Australia announced a squad on Tuesday for next month’s Twenty20 series against Sri Lanka in Australia but delayed announcing a preliminary squad for the Pakistan tour.

Bailey said details of the tour were still being finalised.

Four players who were not part of Australia’s successful T20 World Cup campaign in the UAE last October have been included in a 16-man squad for a five-match Twenty20 series against Sri Lanka.

Travis Head has been chosen after being player of the Ashes, along with Sydney Sixers captain Moises Henriques, Big Bash player of the year Ben McDermott and Jhye Richardson.

David Warner and Mitchell Marsh, who is recovering from a hamstring strain, are being rested while leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson has been left out.

Matches will be played in Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne from February 11 to 20.

Some Australian players are becoming increasingly concerned about terrorist attacks in Pakistan, as Cricket Australia finalises details of a tour scheduled for March and April.

Here we go.

After all the positive statements, the tide might be turning.

This is how they will operate. Put in one line statement about being concerned. Slowly build up an environment where it becomes improbable to visit Pakistan because of safety concerns. Until Australia actually plays the first ball of cricket in Pakistan, I would remain skeptical of the tour. Australia has not visited Pakistan for 23 years. For 16 or so of those years, it was safe to tour yet they didn't. I would trust India to tour but I wouldn't ever trust the Australian cricketers.

Worth remembering that the last time Australia played a Test match overseas was in September 2019 in England.

I think if we can stage a full PSL without hiccups then Australia have very less room to disagree on.

Lol, 'terrorist attacks' - I'm constantly hearing about 'terrorist attacks' in the likes of Germany, UK etc, and lets not forget the atrocity in NZ not that long ago in the vicinity of the Bangla team, yet Aussie would not blink twice to tour there.

They could be flexible in that if its just a max three or four 1st team players, just send ones that are willing to play like some have done in the past to build up confidence in the touring team.

I don't get this drama at all.
Why announce it at all if you were not sure about it.
Remember it was announced during the t20 WC so even the Taliban take over (in Afghanistan) had happen long ago (not like it matters in any sense)
So the political situation and the security situation has not changed at all.
If you wanna come most welcome if not life goes on.

They will still find excuses and reasons not to travel to Pakistan.

They will still find excuses and reasons not to travel to Pakistan.

And I think they should. I honestly, am not a great big supporter of this bandwagon of "bringing cricket back to Pakistan."

It's truly embarrassing when you see the kind of security we are forced to provide. Helicopters in the air, thousands of commandos and police personnel on the road, on guard with loaded weaponry in a curfew like environment, while the teams are locked in their hotel rooms.

Is this the kind of environment Pak is kept in when it visits Australia or NZ or S/A or England?

What exactly are we trying to get out of this notion of "bringing cricket back to Pakistan"?

And more over, lapses in security are much more probable when are ranked 140th nation on the scale of corruption. Anyone anywhere from those policemen or other security person can easily be bought with a little money.

The risk of bringing cricket to Pak clearly outweighs the benefit.

We should focus on improving the standard of our domestic cricket, schedule more n more A tours abroad and work on towards improving the security situation in our country.

Are you just saying this because it's Australia or would have you said the same thing for last year's SA tour, PSL, etc.

Broadcasters will pay more for Cricket being played in Pakistan. Broadcasting revenue is the primary revenue engine for all the boards and PCB's broadcast revenues have suffered for the last 10-15 years due to not hosting the Big 5 teams in Pakistan.

Sadly, I think these issues would still remain 10 years down the line and its been more than 10 years since the boycott started.

We just need to bite the bullet (pun NOT intended) and get the ball rolling. Similar to the saying 'taking imperfect action is better than taking no action at all when we want to achieve something.'

Need to start somewhere and by hosting international teams, we can learn and improve from the experience as we go along.

We also know there are some sinister entities not necessarily within the borders of Pakistan who will do their utmost to spread disinformation and derail the progress PCB is making.

Lets sock to these sinister and groups and show that indeed Pakistan is a safe place to visit.

I would rather they played all 3 tests at the same venue, then not tour at all.

Do not trust them though. I will believe it when i see it.

There are rumors that Australia wants to play all three test matches at one venue.

If they insist, we should play all three test matches in Karachi.

Better than no tour or short tour.

Sydney Morning Herald's sport journalist's have decent contacts within CA as well with Australian players.
But, I still feel a tour will happen. May be some players will opt out.
