Virat Kohli goes past Sachin Tendulkar's ODI centuries record

So Malinga was not at his peak in 2009, then he hit his peak in 2010 and 2011. His peak was over in 2012 and then he hit his peak again in 2017. Interesting analysis.

Basically, Malinga’s peak would magically disappear in the years Kohli scored a century against him and magically reappeared in the years Kohli didn’t score a century against him.
Not magically. Could be a number of factors such as injury.

I'd still say Sachin is the GOAT odi batsmen just considering the era he played in. However Kohli has easily proven himself to be a worthy successor and a world cup win will only be the cherry on top

I dont think this record going to break as conidering the fact that ODIs are getting obseleted.

Kamran Akmal speaking on TV:

"Vo (record) top-3 waale he tod sakte hai 50 hundred ka. Middle-order batsman nahi tod payega. Hamare paas Babar (Azam) hai vo kar sakta hai. Top-3 mein khelta hai. Unke paas abhi (Shubman) Gill hai, vo peeche lag sakta hai is record ke (Only the top three batters can break the record of 50 ODI centuries and the middle-order can't break it. We have Babar Azam who can break it. They have Shubman Gill who can chase the record),"

Kohli' name will remain forever till Judgement day, cricket and 50 over in particular might die at the end of this decade but Kohli and his 50+ tons will be revered by future generations and people will tell stories about it

Virat Kohli in ICC ODI World Cup 2023

11 inngs 765 runs

Avg 95.62 SR 90.31

3 X 100s , 6 X 50s

Most runs by any player in a single World Cup edition

Five successive 50+ scores - the third time in World Cups, second time by Kohli

Average of 95.62 - second highest for anyone with 500+ runs.

Virat Kohli is the finest batter I have seen since Kumar Sangakkara. Kudos to the King for his fantastic performance in the World Cup.

Not ONE of these hundreds have won India a single KO game. His 50th hundred would have been a match-losing effort if not for the others around him.

Two world cup finals and zero impact in either of them, just like Sachin. Travis Head > Virat Kohli in the big KO games.

Feeling bad for both Kohli and Rohit , they did heavy lifting throughout the tournament even in final match.
One of Gill, Iyer and SKY should have supported them.

score 100 more centuries with the help of DRS . no body gives a damn if in the end you cant win the cup. Lol

One Indian supporter said: « you keep making 50 hundreds, 100 hundreds, but other teams will take the trophies which matter»

Legendary West Indies cricketer Brian Lara said that if his son plays any sport, he will use Indian batter Virat Kohli as an example of commitment and dedication.Lara said at the Tiger Pataudi Memorial Lecture in Kolkata:

"I have a son and I can tell you that if my son has to play any sport, I will be using Kohli's commitment and dedication to not just add to his strength, but whatever it takes to become a Number one sportsman".

"First of all, for Virat Kohli, I know a lot of people will say or have already said that Kohli's performance does not matter as India did not win the World Cup. Team sport is about winning and you, as an individual player, have to have that as your No.1 target. But a subsidiary of team success is individual success, and this is what Kohli has given India match after match throughout the World Cup. What impresses me most about Kohli is his true legacy, for he has changed the face of cricket and how you prepare for the game. The discipline that he has stands out, always,"

Chris Gayle in conversation with an Indian sports channel:

"Those guys you mentioned, Sachin and Virat, the only two guys with over 50 ODI centuries. I don't even have the words to describe them. And to be put in the same category as them is special. Very unique, the one and only Virat Kohli is still going and still going very strong. Still got a lot of years left in him to play all formats. We'll see what calls he makes for himself and for Indian cricket as well. Sachin was the original trend-setter, with over 100 international centuries, which is remarkable as well. And like you said, the Universe Boss has brought entertainment and spice for all formats."
