What's new

Virat Kohli or Babar Azam - Who will make more runs in the Champions Trophy?

Babar is not Kohli yet. The former will be the leading run scorer when Pakistan win the 2023 WC.

Come on man.. ok you are impressed from someone.. kohli is an established player and veteran in international arena. While babar is finding his feet.

Between them anyone can outscore each other. But please no comparison.

Considering Kohli's atrocious record in ICC tournaments I wouldn't be surprised if Babar does.

Both have been failiures in England... don't see any of them scoring alot of runs

Kohli seems out of form right now hopefully he can find some form in practise matches if India has to do well kohli has to perform and Rohit needs to find his form as well..

This is Babar's first tournament so I'm not too sure what to expect from him if he's going to be the same or different as to how he is during bilateral ODI series. Kohli will step up in ICC events but if I do have to predict who will score more runs I'd say Kohli. Hopefully Babar becomes a big player in tournaments.

kohli will outscore babar by 150 runs tbh.. just because India will play final and pakistan wuth Shahzad and Hafeez will be shown doors much before India.
its a simple fact I mean bro why make such threads where you will be left red faced in the end??

Of course, Babar Azam. No brainer really. Potential wise, he is better than Kohli by some distance, and will end up as a much more impact player. 3 consecutive hundreds in overseas and that fantastic 100 in Australia at a strike rate of 100 is no joke. He has already scored 5 hundreds in 25 matches, which is one 100 every 5 matches. Let's compare it with Kohli as he scored 27 centuries in 179 matches, which means he takes 6.6 innings on average to score a century. Kohli is clearly behind him. Hope Kohli catches up to him.

Kohli is a sitting duck outside India, so it has to be babar, who after Saeed Anwar, is already the best ODI batsman produced by Pak, in my book.

Kohli average outside India
Australia- 50.05
Bangladesh- 80.83
England- 38.54
New Zealand- 62.16
South Africa- 45.57
Sri Lanka- 35.56
West Indies- 34.70

Not a single country where his average is below 34. Back to your cave, little troll

Babar Azam.

Was a straight forward call. Arguably the best batting talent going around these days. At the same age, Kohli was a nobody, let's not forget.

Maybe Babar will be better than Kohli. Kohli struggles outside the subcontinent

Struggling indeed...Four centuries in Australia with century in both innings of a test, a hundred and 96 against SA in SA.. Only place Kohli struggled is in England. Hope he will score big in England when India tours there again in future.

It's safe to say Kohli is a much better batsman than Babar, but the latter has more potential. The only thing going for Babar is that England is quite a weak country for Kohli AND Kohli is out of form.

Still, Kohli will score more

Any stats to back that up? He has an atrocious record in tests in England but his ODI record outside SC is fine, not earth shattering yet but not bad either.

Kohli looks totally out of form at present. I expect Babar Azam to outscore not just him but every single Indian batsman this CT.

Babar is 10 times the batsmen kohli is.

On a serious note, this is a pointless thread. Any player can outscore another in one competition. Random thread...

at presnt form babar.as kohli is out of touch but u never know he is world class and can be back in to form any time..

Babar has been more of an Amla than Kohli so far. He would likely still be an inferior performer to Kohli even if he outscores latter.

I thought, the question was who'll score more, not who is better. I can put the same question with Babar/Kohli with Sabbir or Mendis. Babar is in great touch, therefore there is a good chance that he will score plenty, but not necessarily outscoring Kohli. Personally, I think Smith will be the highest scorer of the tournament, because he is most likely to play 5 innings & he is in great touch.

As a Pakistani Kohli is far better and will likely score more runs thsn Babar. And people bring up his record in England while at the same time Babar has done worse than Kohli in England. And all Babar has done is bully West Indies.

Lol I think Babar and Kohli will have more interest in scoring runs that win games for there teams rather look to outperform each other.

In any case there is no need to compare Babar with Kohli.

Kohli is out of form at the moment. I think Babar will outscore him in the ICC tournament.

Let me make things easier for everyone.

On paper and on the ground Kohli will outscore babar.
I pakistani dreams Babar will outscore Kohli. :)))

The same Babar who just scored four ducks?

Are you aware that there are different forms of cricket played?

Not an insult, merely wondering whether you are a casual fan and so do not know. If so I would be happy to take the time to explain more about the formats.

How in the world did it make sense to you to even compare someone like Virat's batting and run making capability to this guy? Seriously?

Thank you sir I amassed 20k posts on a cricket forum but I have no idea about different formats, if you could be so kind and go into thorough detail as to what happens in each format.

It depends on many things other than form. First who will play all 5 matches or play more matches. I think joe root, Warner and smith will have a high chance of scoring more runs. Babar is still an amateur in tests with all his tests played abroad except his debut. In LOIs he has been in good form since his debut even in conditions alien to him. I expect him to score a century in CT which most probably would come against SRL. For kohli he has been in poor form in IPL but can step up his game in int'l and that will not come easy for kohli in England against Amir and Rabada. Kohli needs to bring his experience and bat outta his skin in alien conditions against good bowling attacks provided his poor form recently. Babar has got the English summer experience a year ago than what kohli had and been playing away from home for the past one year so he is not fresh to conditions alien to him compared to kohli. With aforementioned things, on paper babar will score more runs than kohli in the league matches

as much as i love Babar Azam (being a pakistani) and hate Kholi (him being an indian CRICKETER, not anything else) but as a common sense target, its clear that Kholi is a whale in international cricket and Babar will do xtreeeeeeeeeemmmlly well to out perform Kholi in his career... he has got the right tools and has made a good start but its all abt improving and being consistent... Babar Azam takes his game in LOI to a different level everytinme he plays so hopefully he can out perform Kholi not only in CT but overall career as well but for now Kholi is way ahead.

I expect Kohli to flop badly thus enhancing his stellar reputation in England and ICC 50 over tournaments. Over rated batsman who is not even among the top 5 ODI bats today but somehow Indian media always props him up.

The person who speaks most is not necessarily the wisest or most knowledgeable.

In terms of Babar, while his test struggles have continued, he has gone from strength to strength in ODIs. He quickly overcame his test form against Australia to perform in the limited over matches since.

the most overrated batsman who ppl think should play at number 3 at his natural position gone for 8 runs after playing tuk tuk

Asinine to compare Babar to possibly the greatest ODI player of all time :kohli2

Kohli averages 90+ in ODIS since 2016, he's already an ATG. Babar shouldn't even be mentioned on the same line as Kohli

this is what i posted and the difference is already 70 runs.. just a fool will think the babar will outscore kohli specialy in a world tourney where kohli thrives

He does?

I only remember him failing in '15 and '11 WC. Must have been padding his stats in the Champions Trophy.

Kohli has scored hundred in both '15 and '11 WC :D
Saying something just for the sake of it ehh ? Sorry grapes :))

Babar showing he is Akmal's cousin after all. Another Pakistani batsmen who started off good and slowly fading away.

Thank God i didnt make an emotional prediction in this thread :msd

World class :))

Has he scored more runs than Kohli scored in the first game yet :misbah
