During most of Dravid's career (excluding the 1997 tour of WI) the WI attack wasn't really strong...

Also, i don't think Kohli has faced any easy overseas tours...all these hundreds have come against Steyn, Rabada, Philander, Anderson, Broad, Johnson, Starc, Harris, Hazelwood, Bolt, Southee etc who are great bowlers.

SRT and Viv have been my favorite batsman for a long time. Kohli has it in him to surpass them both .

Slightly less bowling friendly conditions is not the same as batting conditions. Ball has seamed and swung almost all the time, there has been cloud cover for nearly 75-80% duration in the three tests. Don’t be blinded by hate to rundown a special achievement

The WI stopped being the hardest tour for sub-continent batters after 1993.

AUS and SA have since than been the hunting ground for sub-continent players.

Like I said current team has not exactly faced any extraordinary conditions which previous teams did not face.

The only one you can argue for was 3rd Test against SA which was nightmarish pitch.

Other than that english, SA conditions have always been same. In these countries its same, if you are lucky sun will rise and you can make runs in 2nd and third session. It is still the same in current series. I do agree with the bowling part Anderson/Broad are better than Cork/Gough/Caddick/Fraser etc.

SA conditions and bowling attack is similar in terms of deadliness since they came back in 1992. They are blessed to always have couple of top notch bowlers and pleothra of fast bowling all rounders. The line up which current team faced was more or less same as to what any other team faced in SA in the past.

This guy has united the entire of Pakpassion lol, everybody here now falls into his aura of an all time great batsman regardless of what their differing opinions are on other aspects of cricket.

I recall a time about 4-5 years back when some people said that he will remain an average test bat but be a top LOI batsman.

That's the magic of Kohli, unlike many other cricketers who he plays with and against, he has strong will, desire and passion to work on his craft and constantly look to improve. That is what separates a good cricketer from a potential all time great, the love of the game and seeing yourself as a student of it.

I think SRT looked like the perfect batsman at his peak...Head position, footwork etc... were textbook. But Kohli has an edge mentally. Under pressure, Kohli becomes a different beast. Kohli has the hunger of Tendulkar and the toughness/grit of Viv...Which is the best possible combination I can think of, for a batsman.

Yes, how could I forget Anwar ?

Although , very few of Kohli's away centuries may end up as series winning or match winning imho. He doesn't have the luxury of having legendary pacers like Wasim/Waqar in his team who can help regularly pick up 20 wickets in a match.

Wow, Pretty astonishing. Considering Sehwag has like 4 in 30 Tests( in 56 completed innings!) , that too at 30 odd average, and he's considered a great subcontinental opener. Sehwag though was an absolute beast in Asia
