lets have some kinda pepsi talent hunt for the next shoaib. must bowl 150+

Those bowlers don't exist anymore. There are plenty who could get to 150+ quite regularly if they tried their hardest but the volume of cricket has killed them off, most bowl well within themselves to get through all three formats. Steyn, Roach and [formerly] Amir being examples. Even Gul bowls his effort yorker at 90mph+ in tests but otherwise stays in the 80s.

A few bowl quicker in T20s where it's just 4 overs, like Stuart Broad. Someone like Tait can only play a few LOI games here and there before getting injured and even he can't maintain his 150k pace every game. If this guy can bowl 145ks and maintain it, I'd be interested in him.

him and Prince r the current ''Wasim and Waqar'' double combination for sialkot.....takin wickets for fun

More wickets today. We need a talent spotter profile. Maybe a talent?

Yep, when I bumped the thread, his figures were 1/40, and he ends the innings with 5/86.

Knew that he'll do it. :P

I'm interesting in the guy since some months too, but no one really knows about him. :(

When ?And what did he say exactly ? Didn't play a game since 2011.

actually waqar was intersting about his pace! he was prasing, Talha, waqas and there was another bolwer i forget his name. there were few of them waqar was really hoping on them.

But recently, after that SA spanking ?
If yes that's cool, he can influence the PCB in getting some GENUINE quickie...

...third bowler's probably :sohail

So.

I will update you guys.

Waqas Ahmed has recently turned 27.

Pakistan has the following good 7 right arm bowlers for Four day/ Test Cricket as an Option.

1. Mohammad Asif (RMF)

2. Mohammad Abbass (RFM)

3. Waqas Ahmed (RFM)

4. Ehsan Adil (RFM)

5. Imran Khan (RMF)

6. Shehzad Azam Rana (RFM)

7. Ali Imran Pasha (RFM)

I have just come across Waqas Ahmed. Cricinfo states him to be fast but bowling videos suggest that he is fast medium.

He has impressive FC record where strange thing is that he has only played 20 Fc games in last 6 years despite taking 40 wickets in his debut season at an average of 17 with 3 fivefers & 1 tenfer.

Good quality players should not miss Fc season. Pcb should ensure it. Last season despite being available Ali Imran Pasha & Waqas Ahmed did not play for any regional or departmental team. It was Pcb's mistake.

This year Waqas has single handedly carried a weak Brighto Paints team to the final of Patrons Trophy where he is highest wicket taker amongst pacers taking 30 wickets at an Ave of 18 and SR of 30 whereas Ali Imran Pasha has played 2 matches less than Waqas and he has taken 24 wickets at an Ave of 12 and a SR of 21.

After the End of QEA trophy & Patrons trophy NCA must call Mohammad Asif, Ehsan Adil, Imran Khan, Waqas Ahmed, Mohammad Abass, Shehzad Azam Rana & Ali Imran Pasha to NCA.

At NCA

a. All of them should undergo fitness tests.

b. Speeds should be measured.

c. Actions should be analysed.

d. All of them should be given kookaburra ball and should be asked to bowl in swing and out swing or seam in and seam out deliveries.

After an Unbiased Neutral analysis the 4 best out of these 7 should be earmarked for future Pakistan A & Pakistan squads. There should be a comparative analysis.

This guy Waqas has impressed me. He is tall, has an easy action and can seam the ball both ways. Now Asif & Imran should be in national contention as they have already done well at Int level. While Hasan Ali needs 1 more FC season to be ready for test cricket. So we must pick 2 out of Ehsan, Ali Imran, Waqas, Shehzad & Abass so that in case of any injury or severe loss of form 1 of these is ready and is part of backup.

Pcb's talent scouts have failed. So those of you who know people in PCB should encourage PCB employees to visit Pakpassion cricket section frequently. Especially NCA personnels. It would help them greatly to identify talent which there talent scouts and departments aren't able to see.

I am sharing few bowling videos of Waqas Ahmed here.

What about his Action ? Height ? Ability to seam the ball both ways and his FC strike rate of 39 ?

He was the highest wicket taker amongst pacers in Patrons trophy grade 2 recebtlg with 30 wickets and almost singlehandedly carried Brighto Paints to the final of tournament.

He has a good action but these numbers don't really mean much when most of the wickets are not good for proper cricket. Still one to keep an eye on.

Don't you think this should be done in next 2 months at NCA ? Before the England tour ?

And such activities should be done consistently at NCA as a part of Players development just like CA & ECB do.

He is a test class bowler who hits good length repeatedly. Looks great but Muhammad Abbas already performed well against england a a month or so ago.

However, this guy outperformed Muhammad Abbas and Muhammad Asif.

But but, these tracks are very bowler-friendly. So not sure what to say about him.

Looks very good though,

Shehzad rana did not look international grade to me tbh :(

It won't hurt I think.

I still think the main objective should be to concentrate on bringing the domestic match condition as close to international possible. Which definitely include good pitches , quality balls and player who can actually run.

Who will be testing the bowlers though? Aaqib Javed? Mohammad Akram or waqar younis?

I don't have faith in any of them when it comes to identify talents.

I think this is the only year where mohammad asif can be useful as we are playing three series in the countries where he will get some help. AGe is not on his side and he will rathar become a redundant case in asian conditions. Apart from Imran pasha I think every other guy has the potential.

ChachaCricket your thoughts on

him amir asif and Yasir Shah playing at trent bridge against england, do you think it will be enough?

Since this guy looks like pakistani version of anderson?? https://vimeo.com/143053378

Waqas Ahmed ain't from Sialkot......

He's a genuine youngsta beauty who bowls 90 mph from Karachi......

I hope Pcb make sure than Waqas does not miss this FC Season.

He was the highest wicket taker amongst Pacers in Patrons Trophy and played a major role in Carrying Brighto Paints to final of the trophy.

Another Tall Pacer. Taller than Imran, Rahat, Hasan.

Consistently hits the look length areas.

Has he been selected for any T20 squad for the upcoming tournament ?

Junaids

If Asif misses plane for Australia than this guy is better than Ehsan Adil only because of Ehsan's poor fitness and the way he starts crumbling at crease after his first spell. (Weak Legs)

Waqas is 28,

Ali Imran is also tall and more pacy. He is 31.

Hasan Ali is 2-3 miles slower than Ali Imran and around 7-8 years younger but He is 5'9.

See Waqas's videos and give your feedback Junaids.

And Amad definitely makes my Squad as an Fast Medium Allrounder who is 6'1 6'2.

A ten wicket haul for Waqar Ahmed.

Fivefer in each innings.

Again Lahore only gave him 2-3 matches in the season.

I'd also seriously consider Ali Imran Pasha. How can Pakistan keep selecting Imran Khan?

Singlehandedly He bowls Brighto Paints to the final of Inter Department Grade 2. PIA beats them to qualify for QEA having experienced Fc & Int Cricketers.

Waqas gets picked for Lahore and only plays 2-3 Fc matches with significantly inferior bowlers preferred over him.

Signs of QEA and FC Season with a Tenfer.

# No Accountability

Saw him , not as quick as he touted for , bowls around 133-140k seams it away from LHB bowls a tight line , very much like Rahat with accuracy.

Videos of his bowling have been uploaded in this thread. I see no resemblance with Rahat Ali in any way.

Edit : Sorry was mixed up with Waqas Maqsood a LHB played in QEA Final alongside M.Asif.

He is right arm firstly. Secondly He gets alot of wickets due to the extra bounce he generates from good length. Thirdly he is more of a seamer who seams the ball both ways. Lastly many of his wickets against right hand batsman are caught behind with ball moving away.

Seen the videos looks very good , his indipper really reminds of M.Asif and outswing is also pretty good , get decent bounce as well , nice prospect nevertheless

Can't judge a bowler from one delivery.

I'll point out the things which will not add much to his credibility:

1. Can you separate the outfield from the pitch? That green grass is all over the pitch. :)

2. The quality of ball. Grays is as pathetic as they come. Junaid Khan, Umar Gul, Shinwari run riots and move it miles.

3. Remember the domestic videos of Mir Hamza, which had a lot of deliveries and not just one. The guy was moving it crazy, both ways, but he can only do it on a green lushfield, with the right air, and a grays or dukes.
4. Can't see the seam position.

This is the story of sadly most of our domestic bowlers. They just aren't meant for intl cricket.

This guy only seems to have height going for him. He may have good skill with the ball and that can be judged if one sees more of his deliveries.

Ok I give you another chance ;-)

besides seam position you will have to point out his deficiencies and also tell what is inferior in his bowling skills and ability as compared to current Amir, Wahab, Imran, Sohail & Rahat ?

Also what Imran has repeated is that we are not short of Fast bowling talent. Months ago he organised a camp and was impressed by Zahid jnr and Bilal Shah Afridi.

Now I provide you a bigger sample size and you have to point out the deficiencies, lack of talent/skill and where he falls short of current 5 Test Fast bowlers of Pakistan Team ?

Last FC match he played this season He took a Tenfer on Diamond Cricket Ground. The fastest and bounciest Cricket pitch in Pakistan after Gujranwala Cricket pitch and a pitch at least comparable with Australian pitches.

Pakistan Test tour of NZ 2016 (Green Wickets)

Southee, Grandhomme, Wagner, Boult 36 at an average of 15.61 and a SR of 38.44

Amir, Wahab, Sohail, Imran, Rahat 26 wickets at an average of 30.42 and a SR of 54.46

How come this guy Waqas never been in discussion, has a good action and Phasique, yes wicket is green top but still bowling very well.

More importantly, who the keeper ? he is even more impressive . Look the catch he took in fron of 2nd slip.

Don't give me the chance. The videos look good, but I'm not fooled by domestic cricket videos anymore. Too many false dawns.

Get him into A side with a tour to SA and Australia with a kookaburra.

I'll judge the results then.

Excellent suggestion. I ll just add Eng & NZ to that list.

See the guy only got 2-3 Fc matches this season and only 28 matches in last 7 seasons.

Wow that bowler looks like class. How were his domestic numbers in this season?

From the video, he seems to have Sohail Khan type physique, but is no where as stiff as SK. What is his fitness like?

The keeper in those videos is amazing. He grabbed a couple of stunners. Who is he?

Not taking anything away from Waqas Ahmed, but some of those batsmen had rubbish technique.

He is officially 26 years old and made List A debut in 2009 and Fc debut in 2010.

In Last 7 seasons he has been given only 28 Fc matches while he has 3 tenfers and a SR of 39.

He played 2-3 Fc matches this season and ended the season with a Tenfer while taking fivefers in both innings.

He doesn't have muscles like Sohail Khan but he is 5-7 kg's over weight. General fitness is fine.

He was the only reason why Brighto Paints qualified for Final of Patron's Trophy grade 2. Had they won the final Brighto Paints would have played QEA and not PIA.

Waqas & Ali Imran were the best Fast bowlers of Patron's Trophy Grade 2. Both played 2-3 Fc matches only. Sadly Ali's Quadricep got pulled and he could not recover.

Waqas just needs 1-2 months Training at NCA with Yasir Malik. But since he only played 2-3 Fc matches, isn't amongst top wicket takers so He won't be called to NCA.

Unless someone from.NCA or Selection Committee watches his videos and is told about his Tenfer at Diamond Cricket Ground in Lahore Blue's last match.

Saad Nasim (Coach) and Manzoor Elahi (Coach) need to tell why after being 2nd best Pacer of Patron's Trophy Waqas wasn't selected for first 4-5 matches of QEA ?

The selectors need to be identifying talent like this and making sure they're getting a fair opportunity atleast at domestic level. Such a shame he's hardly played this season.

Isn't it the job of selection committee to scout for talent, keep a watch on these talented players and bring them to NCA and other training programs and eventually to the national side?

We have this guy, Abbas etc and we have Imran Khan Jr getting free tickets for 6 years?

This guy has the height, smooth action, good release can be easily worked out.

Not enough balls to judge but basics can be seen

It's just me or that wicketkeeper taking catch in front of 2nd slip is awesome ? Who is he, Talent spotted :sanga
