Warm Up Match : Sri Lanka A v Pakistan | Kurunegala | 27/07/2009

Looking at the score card, Pakistan shouldnt be very disappointed. A superb work out for their batting line up with some good to have headaches particularly on the batting side.

The bowling looked a concern though the big guns didnt play. All in all everyone on their toes to book a berth and this is absolutely not a bad sign..Good luck guys!

Unfortunately the only way i see all of these batters in the team is to drop Nasir and Misbah ... unfair on a youngster like nasir but misbah isn't a huge loss:

Kamran
Umar Akmal
Younus
Yousuf
Fawad
Malik
Afridi
Razzaq
Gul
Amir
Ajmal

I like this team! Though I would like to play Umar Akmal lower down the order at 6 (he is a new guy, probably should be protected a bit). Malik should be told that he has a slot in the team if he is willing to open, otherwise they should go with Nasir Jamshed as the other opener.

Dont make me laugh bro

it's a good line up.. look at the solid batting afterwards... + Nazir and Afridi get started they will make 90-100 runs in the first 10 overs

we need a michael bevan and i can see umar akmal doing that for pakistan, misbah needs to be dropped just because of his performance and once he gets dropped he will do his very best to come back in the team and inshallah perform like he did 2007/2008.

True, but youre gonna have Younus, Yousuf, Misbah, Umar and Fawad in the same order....jesus how many batsman do uou need.

And it still doesnt defeat the fact that we have 4 bowlers. put it this way Pakistan need to have 8 batsman in there side, 7 is not good enough given that two are very young and Umar in particular is untested at international level.

not at all mate if it were upto me i would not even wait 1 second before dropping misbah. He should be nowhere this team in my opinion.

Nasir Jamshed
Kamran Akmal
Shahid Afridi
Younis Khan
Mo Yousuf
Fawad Alam
Umar Akmal
Abdul Razzaq
Umar Gul
Saeed Ajmal
Mo Aamer

This would be my team for the first ODI

Just as an afterthought, should Kamran Akmal fail i think we should consider playing Sarfraz Ahmed in his place, that would be a direct swap in the batting order too. Once Mo yousuf retires or gets into bad form I also propose bringing Sheharyar Ghani into the middle order.

A middle order comprising, Fawad, Umar Akmal and Ghani is one that id really love to watch!

thats if they get started ... which wont happen 9 times out of 10

When i heard we lost i was like W T H BUT............we scored 333 batting second which is no mean feat.

Sorry but Rao should not play, and Rana Naved seems like he's till the 'buying a wicket' type bowler. After the tour of india in 2005 when his dip came he was very very expensive when picking up wickets....seems like he's still the same perhaps?

Never mind, it wasnt a proper team and Misbah bowled 7 overs lol!

Special mention to Umar Akmal , Mash'Allah......though am i the only one thinking we have too many 'big hitters' in Jamshed, Nazir, Afridi, Razzaq and Akmal x 2? Most of these guys (we know who) may well fail 7/10 times...

Umar Akmal was very very consistent against Aus A so i doubt he will be a batting failure ... Afridi needs to bring that T20 sensibility into his batting ... Nazir will fail 9 times out of 10 ... Razzaq is there as a lower order hitter ... Jamshed is young so we'll see what he does ... and as for Kamran he's just there to hit a quick 30 at the top ... if he pushes on from there then great otherwise he gives us a decent enough start at the top

That is my team also but I'm just not sure about some positions...

E.g Afridi has been playing more sensibly of late, he should come up higher, likewise Fawad Alam. Not that comfortable with Umar Akmal opening and Razzaq at 8 might be wasted, it's a tough choice of where to put players as essentially in that line-up there is no out and out opener and all the top players want to play between 3-7.

^^ I almost agree with all the points you made; however, Nazir and Jamshed don't make it to my team not because of the warm up game performance but lacking a lil brain (Nazir) and lacking technique and quality (Jamshed) on a broader scale.

This team will be a batting paradise

1. Nazir
2. U Akmal
3. Younus
4. Yousuf
5. Malik
6. Alam
7. Afridi
8. Akmal
9. Razzaq
10. Gul
11. Ajmal

Finally a guy who making tons consistently!!! What else do you want? I would even drop Muhammad Yusuf for Umar Akmal if I wanted to ,Misbah who?

Great performances by the youngsters Umar Akmal and Fawad Alam - Surely both of them are really pushing for a place each in the final XI for the first ODI match atleast!

Nazir wouldnt be in my team either but with Jamshed its a different story ... he has a decent technique ... lets give him a few goes before we start making judgements
