What's new

Wasim Akram unhappy with Babar Azam's fanboy moment with Virat Kohli

Atleast kohli was not receiving a shirt from pakistani counterparts
What difference does it make? Receiving a shirt or having a laugh with opposition after a heavy defeat?

The point here is that the majority of Pakistan fans/media do not want to see the 2 captains together in public. Wasn't a problem when Kohli was having a laugh with Pak team in CT17, so why now? Because of a shirt?

No because of the result.

To the victor the spoils of war type thing.

These days it's like the Pakistan players are in awe of the Indian players.

I remember when it used to be the other way round.

How times have changed.
Yes. Its all because of IPL. Pre IPL india was an ordinary team now they have turned into super giant

It's not just the Indians. Last year when Australia toured, the players looked like starstrucks teens seeing their favourite pop idols in front of Warner, Smith and co.

It's embarrassing and partly stems from the captain.

I freely admit there's a severe skills deficiency in Pakistan that means we'll lose to the top teams more often than not, but the psychology of the team needs a reboot too.

It's ok. They are friends - what is there to hide?
Babar was asking shirts not for himself but for his relatives. No need to be uptight about it.

I quite literally feel nauseous seeing how our player gush over Indian players. What kind of team has this Pakistan side become? Seeing Shadab meet Kohli and mouth "Wo aapki shirt chahiye thi" after being on the receiving end of one of the most shameful WC defeats at the hands of India.

Where has the dignity gone? Where is the competitive spirit and self respect? When you lose, especially to India, you should be hurting, and hurting bad! I cannot imagine the players from the past asking for souvenirs from the Indians after a defeat! Which professional athletes act like this?!?

Seeing such attitudes just makes me wonder what these players think of themselves. I would only ask someone for such a favor if I consider them way above my own stature. Someone who I cannot compete with. Someone who needs to be respected and not competed against. An idol.

With such an attitude, how and why even do we expect these guys to perform on the big stage? They are a bunch of boys who do not even think highly of themselves. They are likely just glad to be in the company of other international stars; especially the Indians. It is so sad to see this.

The video of the above incident is doing rounds on social media. Very easy to find if anyone is interested.

What is this nonsense - seriously. Have some dignity. You can appreciate Kohli by all means. You can respect him, but this fanboyism as an international cricketer is pathetic.

I'm beginning to dislike this passenger more and more after each passing day. A nothing cricketer who married into the family of a Pakistan legend and also became best friends with the captain to secure his place in the side and become undroppable. Proper politician this guy. Zero performance but acts like he is the second coming of IK and Warne, rolled into one.

I feel like it is not just a Shadab problem. It's not possible that he would act this way while none of the other guys would. This kind of behavior only happens when 1) you have a weak mindset as a team 2) you buy into the glorification of the opposition and feel inferior to them in every sense 3) have a weak leader who does not give the team a strong personality

Can you imagine someone under Wasim Akram acting like this? Or under IK acting like this? Your captain should instill self respect and an attitude in you. Unfortunately, we've got Babar who has zero personality and is not a leader.

Those mentioning footballers.

They exchange shirts if done in public. Swap them, not hang around waiting for a signed shirt of an opponent whose team has absolutely thrashed you.

If its true about Shadab then the 1 % hope I had of him is gone.

Still remember the fire he had in CT 2017 as a real youngsta beauty. All the non sense T20 cricket has destroyed him.

Lol. Very very appropriate response. What's wrong with these journalists
A lot of the Indian journalists like to bring India into every press conference.

I recall a few times at the 2019 World Cup during press conferences, how several journos from India made fools of themselves asking questions that confused players.

Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim about Virat Kohli and Babar Azam’s Fandom:

Mohammad Amir:

"Because Virat is my favorite, simple. You can see my tweets from 2017, even then I used to tweet about him because he’s my favorite,”

“When Babar will score a match-winning century like Fakhar Zaman, I'll be the first one to tweet about it,”

Imad Wasim:

‘We don’t criticize him [Babar] here, we try to explain him technical points. However, that doesn’t mean we hate him. If we write something about someone, it isn’t out of hate. We also take criticism when we play. We are not blind fans; we try to talk on cricket-based facts. One shouldn’t get jealous if someone is tweeting about Virat or Babar, that’s a personal decision,”

they like self praise.

Both are class player and they are very respectful to each other. Non issue
Babar is not even merit to tie shoe lace of Kohli. Never seen this over-hyped guy played any match winning innings against top team. I rather rate Rizwan and even non-consistent Fakhar over Babar.

That's why Babar don't select you in the team

This is exactly what I am talking about. Our ex-players need to learn some tact.

These are the same ex-players, same fans, same media, who were crediting and respecting Kohli for having a laugh with Pakistan before the CT17 trophy presentation.

Now the situation has turned, all knives are out for Babar.
Babar deserve that for stubborn attitude and keep selecting his friends eventhough they are super failure.
