Sarfaraz Ahmed post-match:

"That partnership in the first innings was in my view the turning point where Fakhar and I played well and that innings really helped the team"

"I would like to express my praise for Mohammad Abbas for the bowling performance he put in the whole match"

"The way Mohammad Abbas bowled in the whole series was the clear difference between both teams"

"Abbas always hits the right areas which is why he got so much success"

"This was a great debut for Fakhar and I would like to congratulate him for a 50 in each innings"

"As you know since the formation of the new selection committee, we have always tried to give chances to new guys"

"The fact that all new guys have done so well when given a chance shows that we have great talent and it just needs to be given a chance to prove themselves"

"Obviously when your team is losing and you are not performing as a captain, there is a lot of pressure on you"

"But the most important thing is that team has to win, regardless of if the captain is performing or not"

"Thankfully, due to my first innings performance, the team got some respite and the end result was good"

"So the idea is to carry on with this good form and keep on helping the team"

"We will have to play very good cricket against Australia in T20Is as you know they are considered a tough side to beat in T20Is"

"Although we won against them in Zimbabwe, we will have to play well in all 3 departments to win against them"

Amazing comeback from Sarfaraz himself. Really needs to continue this.

Winning in Zimbabwe is different for some reason Pakistan really struggle to win ODIs in UAE although they are better in T20s due to PSL.

Sarfraz should not play the coming t20 series against Aus. He needs rest big time. I dont remember the last time he missed an international or tour match. Need him fit and firing against NZ.

Funny the haters who are the first ones to slaughter Sarfaraz for any defeat aren't man enough to congratulate him for a resounding win. Chotay log.

Funny how our players only tend to perform, when calls are made from outside etc.. for them to be dropped.

This is worst Australian side since the 80s and we should have won this series 2-0, yet make a pig ears out of drawing the 1st test. lets not get carried away here.

Scoring on a road in Asia against Aus C team shouldn’t be the bench mark. This guys fitness levels are beyond pathetic cant keep hasn’t scored for more than 2 years. Tactically not a clue as a captain dump him now invest in a new keeper!!

Well Khawaja and Paine played legendary innings.

You need to stop criticising everything.

Sarfraz back in form must be massive relief for him. He looked mentally shot and the team was suffering for it. The captain leading from the front has really energized this team.

Sarfraz scored runs when it mattered and showcased more proactive captaincy.

Congrats to him but the season is not over.

NZ will provide a tougher challenge and he must once again, step up.

The fact is Sarfraz is one of the worst captain for the new guys. :12:

Look at how he treated Fakhar Zaman before his ODI debut  Inzi selected Fakhar Zaman for the easy tour before CT but Sarfraz did not let Fakhar Zaman play a single match in that tour   And then even in the early games of CT Sarfraz did not let Fakhar Zaman play   . It was pure luck that Ahmed Shehzad was not a little bit good in CT and so Sarfraz was forced to play Fakhar Zaman and the same Fakhar Zaman won Pakistan the CT and now Sarfraz takes credit for that win? Shame on him.

Same way you can see how he has treated the new guy Mir Hamza. :12: He gave him only 1 over only in 1st inning before yanking him  What would this do to Mir Hamza's confidence; has Sarfraz thought about it? And then again in 2nd inning: after Mir Hamza took the 1st wicket, Sarfraz did not open the bowling on Day 4 with Mir Hamza and instead open the bowling with a spinner

"Yesterday I was hit on the head and I had a headache this morning, I discussed with the doctor who said I have a concussion and I should not play"

"I had a MRI Scan and the doctor asked me to take 48 hr rest, that's it"

"It was a great win today and the credit goes to all my bowlers and especially to Mohammad Abbas"

"Both Australia and Pakistan were similar Test teams in the sense that both had newer players"

"If you compare the performances in both games, I feel that Pakistan are the better team"

"Looks like Australia did not prepare for Mohammad Abbas and they took him easy but then credit goes to Mohammad Abbas as the pitch wasn't suited for fast-bowlers yet he bowled so well and I feel that he was the better [best] bowler amongst all bowlers in both teams"

"This series win has given a boost to our morale as we havent won a Test series in UAE for a while"

"Hopefully based on this victory, we will win against New Zealand as well"

Question : What advice does he have for Tim Paine?

"If you are a captain of any team, you put pressure on your own self"

"I really have no idea about how to handle pressure, apart from performing well and that's it"

"These things happen in cricket but thankfully I have been lucky as in this game, I got hit on the hand, then on the helmet so I suppose am happy I got saved [didnt get serious injury]"

"I will not say that this is our best Test team as we still have a things we need to fix"

"We will need to bat a bit more maturely"

"We have too many soft dismissals in Test cricket"

"We were told by Younis Khan that once you are settled in, then you need to stay out there as long as possible in Test cricket"

"We need to improve in the area of spin bowling"

"We need to prepare another fast-bowler alongside Mohammad Abbas who can perform in UAE and other pitches too"

"A few lessons to learn and one of them is never to give up; The way we bounced back when we were 57/5 is amazing as not many teams can win with such a margin after being in that position on Day 1"

"The lesson to all batsmen is to hold on to your wickets"

"We were 205/6 but we took it to 282 so the tailenders' runs become very important and that means you don't give up"

Question : Nathan Lyon was saying that the Australia team culture is different what do you think?

"No I don't think they were talking to us about culture - we were talking about something else"

"They are obviously going through a stage where they are trying to fix things but it wasn't the case that this was a polite atmosphere"

"When Azhar played that shot it was 297 but then when I looked again, the score was 299 and that was a very surprising thing for the team"

"We were all holding our heads wondering what have these guys done"

"I guess these things happen and its part of life that a person is more famous for a run out like this than scoring a 300"

"Its important that things that have happened in the past with our talented players should not happen and for that there are lectures on anti-corruption being given to them"

"If someone is getting personal with you, then you can reply to him"

"Bilal Asif did well but I feel that there is still a lot to learn for him"

"Mir Hamza bowled well and showed that if we put more work on him, he will get better"

Did a good job in this game but he has a lot of work to do to prove himself as a player and captain.
