Weird T20I selections for Pakistan in 2025

Always the issue. You just can’t have a strong batting line up no matter what combination you use when only one or two batsmen are performing.

So issue remains the same...back then we had same issue and now today it is same as well... Farhan has decent stats,,, DECENT but some people presented him like the epitome of intent... 1 six and 5 dot balls is a goo thing for them I think

ANyway... Saim needs to come good now. He has had enough chances... Cannot play on hype only
Fakhar Zaman has not done much as well but Salman ali agha does not let him play him at 4 so we can give him benefot of doubt here...

Faheem's greatest knock was that 29... But yeah, If he is not being utilized as a bowler, then TBH, we should go with proper batter...

As far as Saim is concerned, here are T20 openers since Oct 28, 2025 (Saim's last 15 T20s).
His stats are almost identical to Sahibzada Farhan's stats....and his (Farhan's) bowling is not even shielding him.

Yes, picture does sum it up.

I don't think Faheem's selection in Agha's hands. It's in the hands of people living in Jati Umrah.
But Agha Salman is doing a fantastic job of shielding Faheem Ashraf from getting trashed in bowling.
Faheem bowled only 13 overs in last 11 matches. That;s almost ONE OVER PER T20.

Here are T20 bowling stats since 18 Nov 2025 - Faheem's last 11 matches.
2nd worst E/R.
Lowest # of wickets.
2nd worst S/R.

So what's Faheem Ashrf's primary job? Is he doing his job?

Nope he is not doing it... He is not a batter, he is bowler and should bowl more... His stats are not godly but he is a utility player.. We cannot just play him as a batter... simple/

Faheem and Dube are limited utility role players. They should be judged not on overall stats but how much impact they have and how regularly they can deliver when situations are setup for them
(E.g. Faheem bowling on slightly slow and low pitches, Faheem batting against support seamers, Dube batting against left arm/leg spinners and Dube sneaking odd over in on a bad bowling day for India)

Both players are doing pretty well over last 3-4 months in their ideal entry points. Ofcourse they fail very often in other scenarios but that is an acceptable tradeoff.

If fans are expecting Faheem to deliver Pandya/Stokes level batting numbers and versatility or Dube to bowl 140kph bouncers or hit them for six then it is delusional. These players are what they are and will not evolve any further.

We are already playing with 5 spinners capable of bowling 4 overs each. Then we have one seamer who can bowl 2 overs upfront and then 2 at the death. If there's any need, Fahim can be used.
Players should be picked on form, and I'd say Mirza should get a nod ahead of Shaheen. The same mistake was done in Asia Cup as well by sticking with Haris.
