Yes, picture does sum it up.
I don't think Faheem's selection in Agha's hands. It's in the hands of people living in Jati Umrah.
But Agha Salman is doing a fantastic job of shielding Faheem Ashraf from getting trashed in bowling.
Faheem bowled only 13 overs in last 11 matches. That;s almost ONE OVER PER T20.
Here are T20 bowling stats since 18 Nov 2025 - Faheem's last 11 matches.
2nd worst E/R.
Lowest # of wickets.
2nd worst S/R.
I have been consistently highlighting four (of the countless) flaws of this squad/team since the past few months:
- Faheem’s inexplicable inclusion in the team. People are providing many justifications but I really can’t wrap my head around his selection. If he plays as a bowling allrounder at 8 he HAS to bowl at least 2 economical overs and any runs he makes are a bonus. His inclusion costs the team an extra batsman without providing much benefit unless he bowl. From 8 he MIGHT win you a rare 1 in 20-30 games with his batting but that’s not good enough if you are foregoing playing a specialist batsman up top who is way more likelier to win you the game. Why he is not bowling is as much a mystery to me as it is to everyone else. But usually this happens when either captain is not confident about a player’s skills or doesn’t agree with a selection. Again just what I think, there can be some other reason but I can understand how it can be a logical one.
- Part time keepers. It hasn’t hurt us yet but there is a great chance it will at some point in the tournament. You cannot have part timers for the most specialized job in the game.
- Names > Form. The so called best bowler and batsman in the team are both in atrocious form and at the moment both are not even passengers but liabilities. You are making your most in form bowler in Salman Mirza (started the tournament with 3 wickets as well) sit out for someone who has done very little other than bowl pies. As for the legendary batsman the less said the better. As I said in another thread the way he played today if he has even an iota of shame and the management an iota of sense this should be his last game, at least in this tournament if not in his T20 career.
-we rarely have an overarching strategy, or assign our players roles to execute that strategy. Which also means that there is little accountability. What is Saim’s role in the team? Is he a bowler, a batsman? A batting allrounder or vice versa? Nobody knows. What is Faheem’s role? Who is our death bowler? What is Babar’s role in chases or when setting up targets? What are the metrics to judge their performance? Today Hardik was discussing this exact thing about role clarity in an interview before the game about how everyone in the team has specific roles and how they prepare extensively for it and it then kind of becomes second nature and you don’t have to think about it in the game. Our players and captain depend on qudrat ka nizam and some form of lottery to decide who will bowl in the power play, who will bowl at death. Aaj Agha ka dil chaha bowling open karli, kal Saim karlayga and some day Nawaz. If Saim is your designated PP bowler then unless he is getting absolutely hammered then why not let him perform that role? Today when he had Ishan and Tilak in knots why was he replaced by Abrar? And not the first time either. Last time we went to Rauf when spinners were doing a great job today the ball was given to a leg spinner against two left handers.
There are many other glaring issues that any half decent team/management would address readily. I really can’t see how any professional team can aspire to win consistently at the highest level while committing such obvious blunders.
