It is good to see you back Steve.

Welcome to India.

Welcome to IPL.

Welcome to competitive cricket.

It's been a long wait. The king returns to take his crown. Best batsman of this generation and it is a wonderful feeling seeing him bat.

Your next thread should be "Welcome back David Warner, the best left hander of all time" for extra spice

Just how Smith isn't the best batsman of this generation either....

Test average of 60+ says otherwise.

There is no doubt whatsoever against Steve Smith being greatest of this generation.

Only in test cricket.

Better at ODI Tournaments as well. Kohli can enjoy his supremacy at a dime a dozen ODI Bilaterals and T20s though.

Smith is easily the best batsman of this generation. Guy was ranked No.1 in Tests for more than 3 Years straight. That's insane.

He has great numbers in test for sure, but uski batting dekhtay huve ulti aati hai. He probably has the least elegance in batting for batsmen averaging over 50.

Yes, Kohli's numbers in test are terrible in last 3 years.

Average of 41 at 86 Sr is nothing special.
Performance in tournament is hot & cold for me.
Great knock in semifinal against India in 2015 wc but also pathetic knock against England in virtual quarter final 2017 champions trophy.

It will be really interesting to see if he can perform near his pre ban performances in tests.

The only player to stood up with the bat against India in India in the previous home season.

King kohli is the greatest limited overs batsman of all time.

And overall a top 5 batsman off all time.

He’s just only turned 30...

Smith is no where near

He is for sure the best Test batsman but not the best batsman overall.

In terms of Tests and WC performance, I agree. In terms of bilateral ODIs and T20s in general, Kohli is much better

If Smith played most of his LOI matches in India, he would score twice the runs of Kohli...

Yea, pitches in Australia for ODI cricket have been minefields over the last few years.

A tainted player will always be tainted.

No matter what Amir does, there is always a shadow over him.

Similarly, from now on, Steve Smith will no longer be remembered in a good light.

Yes . The greatest batsman of this generation. By the way, he doesn't even have half of Virat Kohli's international hundreds. So ...yeah.

He is for sure the best Test batsman but not the best batsman overall.

Best test batsman is by default the best batsman in the world.

That’s how it’s been for 100 years of cricket and that’s how it will be for another 100 years.

No offence to lovers of rainbow cricket though. We are an inclusive society now and all formats of cricket must get respect.

Long way ahead of Steve Smith now to get where he was and earn back the respect of the cricketing world. For now the battle for top spot is b/w Kohli and Kane is tests. In LOI's no one in is even close to Kohli.

I agree.
The highest averaging batsman with most annnoying looking stance.

Best batsman of this generation, well who cares as long as Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad are 10 times more talented than him and Kohli, talent man talent!

I don’t find Smith’s batting ugly at all. It’s what you call unorthodox. In terms of execution he’s an absolute genius.

Quite remarkable that Steve Smith is not playing in the PAK/AUS series.

IPL is not going to help him prepare for an ODI World Cup.

Yup, his unorthodox approach has paid him dividends. From bowler to world's best bat is quite simply astonishing.

Sometimes I really wonder why I didn’t start playing cricket, as talented as I am.:uakmal

MUMBAI (Reuters) - David Warner celebrated the end of his year-long ban from international cricket with a match-winning innings of 69 on Friday, helping his Indian Premier League franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad overhaul a steep target against the Rajasthan Royals.

Former Australia captain Steve Smith and his deputy Warner were slapped with 12-month suspensions from international cricket last year for their involvement in the ball-tampering scandal in the Cape Town test against South Africa.

Two months out from the World Cup in England, Warner showed he had lost none of his marauding form at the top of the order by smashing 85 in 53 balls in Hyderabad’s opening IPL match against Kolkata Knight Riders last Sunday.

He continued in the same vein against Rajasthan, the day after his international ban ended, scoring 69 off 37 deliveries as his team chased down their opponents 198-2, built on Sanju Samson’s unbeaten knock of 102.

Hyderabad needed a fast start to their innings and Warner, who missed the 2018 IPL because of the ban, obliged with a half-century off 26 deliveries.

“We got off to a good start and kept (going) on with that adrenaline,” Warner said after the match. “As a batsman when your adrenaline is running you are in a mood.”

Warner’s form is timely as he attempts to win a place in Aaron Finch’s World Cup squad, four years after being Australia’s second-highest run scorer behind former captain Smith during the team’s run to the title on home soil.

Finch said on Thursday selectors would find it hard to fit everyone in to the 15-man squad, with his current one-day side resurgent as they dominate Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates.

However, Glenn Maxwell, who struck 98 as Australia completed a six-run win over Pakistan in Dubai on Friday, said he looked forward to Warner and Smith joining the ODI squad.

“He’s on fire over there and it’s good to see, looking forward to them joining up with us,” said Maxwell after Australia took a 4-0 lead in the five-match series.

“They’re certainly going to get plenty of cricket over there in the IPL.”

Left-hander Warner hit nine fours, three of them in England all-rounder Ben Stokes’ first over, and two sixes in his knock and by the time he fell to Stokes, his team had already rocketed to 110 in less than 10 overs.

“When a player like David Warner bats like that, there’s very less margin as a bowler,” Rajasthan captain Ajinkya Rahane said.

“I don’t think the bowlers did anything wrong, their batsmen did very well. They didn’t lose any momentum throughout when they were batting.”

Smith did not have an opportunity to bat as his side promoted Stokes ahead of him at number four.

We have not seen the best of Smith yet in this IPL.

Warner seems to have sealed his place in the wc squad though.
