West Ham United have agreed deals for Manchester United's Harry Maguire and Southampton's James Ward-Prowse worth about £60m in total.

Each deal is thought to be worth in the region of £30m.

Maguire, 30, struggled for first-team opportunities at Old Trafford last season and has been stripped of the captaincy this season.

He is understood to be keen on the move with personal terms yet to be agreed but not expected to be a problem.

Maguire joined United in August 2019 for a world record £80m for a defender.

West Ham have been trying to sign Ward-Prowse for much of the summer but Southampton, who were relegated to the Championship last season, had rejected their advances until this point.

However, it has appeared inevitable that Southampton would lose their captain and that now seems set to happen.

How Maguire lost his way at Man Utd
West Ham are looking to bolster their squad after selling England midfielder Declan Rice to Arsenal for £105m and Italy striker Gianluca Scamacca to Atalanta for £21.5m.

Hammers boss David Moyes is closing on signing Ajax's Edson Alvarez as a replacement for Rice and has also been linked with a move for Manchester United's Scott McTominay.

West Ham United have signed midfielder James Ward-Prowse from Southampton for a fee thought to be in the region of £30m.

The England international, 28, has joined the Hammers on a four-year deal.

Ward-Prowse joined Southampton at the age of eight and made 410 senior appearances as well as captaining the club, who were relegated to the Championship last season.

"I'm buzzing to be here at West Ham United," he said.

"From the outside looking in, this is a club that has been on the rise for a number of years now and coming off the success in the Europa Conference League last year, you can feel there is real momentum around this club."

Lucas Paqueta is being investigated by the Football Association for potential betting rule breaches, sources have confirmed to the BBC.

The West Ham midfielder, 25, has been linked with a move to Manchester City.

On Friday, Paqueta was omitted from Brazil's squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers "for him to sort out his problems".

Sky Sports reported Paqueta as saying he had not placed any bets himself and was shocked by the reports.

The investigation, which is also said to involve world governing body Fifa, is believed to centre around bets placed in Brazil on yellow cards awarded against Paqueta.

Speaking on Friday, Brazil's interim coach Fernando Diniz said Paqueta had been left out of his squad for qualifiers against Bolivia and Peru next month.

"Paqueta was on the list, he's a player I like a lot. It's a time for him to resolve these issues," Diniz told reporters.

"People need time to sort these issues out. He's a player I love, I have the best impressions of him."

BBC Sport has approached the FA and West Ham for comment.

West Ham United have completed the signing of Greece defender Konstantinos Mavropanos from Stuttgart for an undisclosed fee.

Mavropanos, 25, has signed a five-year contract with the Hammers and has taken the number 15 shirt.

He was signed by Arsenal in January 2018 but only made seven Premier League appearances before being loaned out.

"I'm really looking forward to the next step in my career," he said. "I will give everything for the shirt.

Kurt Zouma: West Ham offer £25,000 for information after defender's house burgled

West Ham have offered a £25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and successful prosecution of burglars who broke into Kurt Zouma's home.

Thieves broke in before Sunday's game with Crystal Palace while the defender and his family were in the house.

No-one was harmed but "items of significant value and of huge personal and sentimental importance" were taken.

"To have someone break into your home is a terrifying experience," said West Ham joint-chair David Sullivan.

"I hope this reward will help bring the individuals to justice and prevent others from going through a similar ordeal."

West Ham find way to win

West Ham are used to watching their opponents dominate possession - they have beaten Arsenal and Tottenham over the past two months with less than 30% possession.

But David Moyes' side struggled to be effective on the counter in the first half in a flat game of poor quality on both sides.

Bowen's brilliant header from a corner required Onana to tip over the bar as West Ham struggled to find their rhythm.

But after Paqueta's sublime ball set up Bowen, West Ham upped the tempo and the volume from the crowd increased with it.

Kudus doubled their lead with his 10th goal of the season, nine of which have come at London Stadium, as Manchester United struggled to get back in the game.

Fans have called for West Ham manager David Moyes to enter the transfer market in January for a striker but with the threat of Bowen, Kudus and Paqueta, who has assisted the Hammers' last five goals in the league, West Ham look on track to enjoy another fruitful season.

West Ham: Lucas Paqueta could be out for 'at least two months' with calf injury

West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta could be sidelined for "at least two months" with a calf injury.

The Brazilian suffered a recurrence of the issue in Sunday's FA Cup draw with Bristol City, having initially been injured against Arsenal at the end of December.

He missed the goalless draw with Brighton on 2 January and lasted just 14 minutes of the Bristol City tie.

Paqueta is set to see a specialist to determine the extent of the problem.

His absence would be a major blow for manager David Moyes as Paqueta emerged as a key figure in West Ham's resurgence during 2023.

It was his pass that created Jarrod Bowen's matchwinner in the Europa Conference League final victory against Fiorentina in June, sealing West Ham's first trophy in 43 years.

Meanwhile, Bowen is also set to miss a couple of games after being helped off the pitch with an ankle problem on Sunday.

While the damage is not as extensive as initially feared, Bowen is expected to miss the replay with Bristol City at Ashton Gate on 16 January and is unlikely to be fit for the Premier League trip to Sheffield United the following weekend.

The injuries come at a point where West Ham are also without another attacking option in Mohammed Kudus, who is at the African Cup of Nations with Ghana, while veteran Michail Antonio has suffered a setback in his recovery from a knee injury sustained on international duty in November.

It means a potential loan out of London Stadium for Danny Ings is unlikely to be sanctioned, with West Ham officials looking at trying to bring new players into Moyes' squad.

Sunderland winger Jack Clarke and former Tottenham wide man Steven Bergwijn, who is now at Ajax, have both been mentioned as potential targets.

David Moyes says he has been offered a new deal to stay as West Ham boss - but will wait until the end of the season to make a decision on his future.

The Hammers' current eight-match winless run has seen Moyes come under pressure from some supporters.

"I've had really good conversations with the owners, with David Sullivan and Karren Brady," he said.

"There's a contract there for me and I'm the one deciding I want to wait until the end of the season."

A "Moyes Out" banner could be seen in the away end last weekend as West Ham fell to a 2-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest, which followed a 6-0 home loss to Arsenal a week earlier.

West Ham won the Europa Conference League last season, their first major trophy for 43 years.

They have also finished sixth and seventh in the Premier League under Moyes, and reached the Europa League semi-finals in 2022.

But the Hammers, currently ninth in the league, are without a win since beating title hopefuls Arsenal in December.

Moyes managed West Ham from November 2017 to May 2018 and then returned to the club in December 2019.

"There are plenty of reasons [to wait]. I've got to make sure it's the right thing for the club, for me and my family," said the 60-year-old.

"I've spoken to the board. I've had a fabulous four years. We'll sort it out but I'm happy to wait."

The Hammers, who have been drawn against German club Freiburg in the last 16 of the Europa League, will aim to end their winless run when they host Brentford on Monday (20:00 GMT).

Moyes' side could be boosted by the return of Brazilian playmaker Lucas Paqueta, who is back in training after a knee injury and "in contention" to face the Bees.

Kalvin Phillips has been omitted from Gareth Southgate's latest England squad as a result of his poor form at West Ham.

The 28-year-old linked up with the Hammers on loan in January following a lack of game time at Manchester City, but has struggled for consistency.

And Southgate appears to have listened to fans and pundits to leave out the 2021 Three Lions' Player of the Year having included him in his last squad in November.

Explaining his decision in Thursday's press conference, Southgate said: "We don't have many players of that profile.

"But unfortunately his form just hasn't been good enough. I've spoken to him and he understands."

However it's positive news for his West Ham teammate Jarrod Bowen, who has yet again been rewarded with a place in the team.

Deployed as a centre-forward by David Moyes this season, the 27-year-old has so far chipped in with 17 goals and six assists in all competitions.

And the ex-Hull star will now be eyeing up his first international goal in the upcoming friendlies against Brazil and Belgium.

Meanwhile, Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite has received his first call-up having cemented himself as a key player under Sean Dyche.

And his England Under-21 Euro 2023-winning teammate Anthony Gordon has also been named for the first time - despite his minor knee injury.

West Ham provide George Earthy update after horror head injury on Premier League debut

West Ham youngster George Earthy has been discharged from hospital after appearing to be knocked unconscious late in yesterday’s defeat to Fulham.

The 19-year-old came off the bench for his Premier League debut but accidentally collided with team mate Edson Alvarez after only three minutes on the pitch.

Medical staff from both clubs rushed on to the pitch, while Hammers defender Nayef Aguerd turned the teenager into a recovery position. Earthy was given oxygen by doctors and as a precaution placed into a neck brace.

He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for further assessment and West Ham confirmed that he has now been discharged.

In a brief statement West Ham performance director Richard Collinge said: “George is back home and we will continue to monitor him over the coming days as he completes the graduated return to play programme.”

Speaking after the game manager David Moyes said: “I’m really disappointed for George. He’s been doing really well in training and with the under 21s, getting much closer to the first team. He had some really nice touches when he came on.

“It was a head knock. He’s awake and gone to hospital for checks. We think he’s OK at the moment.”

A win against Fulham would have seen West Ham climb to sixth in the table but Moyes rued a lack of control in the centre of the pitch, while the Scot was also critical of star player Lucas Paqueta’s sloppy performance.

“What a great position to be in,” Moyes said. “But we gave the ball away in midfield and it opened us up. We were punished.”

He added of Paqueta’s performance: “It shouldn’t happen … I wouldn’t accept it from other players.”

West Ham host newly-crowned Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday night having lost the first game 2-0.

Paqueta is suspended, while top scorer Jarrod Bowen ’s availability remains unclear after he missed the past two games with a hip injury. Loan midfielder Kalvin Phillips is also injured.

Former Premier League boss Julen Lopetegui emerges as surprise contender to replace David Moyes at West Ham

Julen Lopetegui has been put forward to West Ham as a potential replacement for David Moyes, talkSPORT understands.

Intermediaries working on behalf of Lopetegui have made it clear to the Hammers the former Wolves boss is keen to make a return to the Premier League.

Moyes is out of contract this summer, with West Ham insisting that no final decision on his future has been made.

But as talkSPORT reported last week, it is now increasingly likely he will leave at the end of the season.

The Scotsman claimed in December that he had been offered an extension to his contract, but was waiting until the summer to make his decision.

A number of West Ham fans have expressed their frustration of Moyes' style of play in recent months, and would welcome a new manager to take over.

West Ham are in danger of missing out on European football next season following Sunday's 5-2 defeat at Crystal Palace.

They missed out on the chance to leapfrog into sixth spot, but remain in eighth place, with Chelsea below boasting three games in hand over them.

Should Lopetegui be appointed, it would be an instant return to England following his Molineux exit.

The Spaniard parted ways with the Midlands outfit in August ahead of the 2023/24 season after voicing his criticism over the club's lack of transfer activity.

He took over at Wolves midway through last campaign, where he guided them to safety having taken over when they were embroiled in a relegation battle.

Wolves ended up the term finishing in a respectable 13th place, with Lopetegui winning ten out of his 27 matches in all competitions.

The 57-year-old boasts plenty of pedigree having managed Sevilla, Real Madrid and Spain prior to his spell in England.

His greatest success came with Sevilla, where they won the Europa League in 2020 under his tutelage - beating Manchester United in the semi-final.

Lopetegui in West Ham talks amid Moyes uncertainty

West Ham have held talks with Julen Lopetegui and could make a decision on manager David Moyes' future before the end of the season.

Moyes has repeatedly fended off questions about whether he will remain at the club, saying talks will not take place until after their final game at Manchester City on 19 May.

While that is still the plan, BBC Sport understands there is a small possibility of West Ham reaching an earlier conclusion on Moyes’ tenure.

Talks with Lopetegui have been positive, although sources are adamant no decision has been made on Moyes and the final outcome will be what is regarded as being best for the team.

The uncertainty over Moyes has bemused many outsiders, who question why the respected Scot is under so much pressure as he closes in on what would be a third top-half finish in four full seasons at the London Stadium.

He presided over three successive European campaigns for the first time in the club’s history and last June ended the Hammers' 43-year wait for a trophy with a last-minute victory over Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League final.

However, many fans are critical of what they view as Moyes’ negative tactics.

Lopetegui has been without a job since leaving Wolves on the eve of the current campaign, believing promises made over his playing budget had not been kept.

The former Spain and Real Madrid coach has been linked with numerous jobs since and is thought to be keen on returning to the Premier League after guiding Wolves to safety last term, having joined them when they were bottom of the table.

It is known other options are being considered.

Lopetegui agrees to become West Ham manager

Julen Lopetegui has agreed a deal to become West Ham manager at the end of the season.

Nothing has been signed yet but the 57-year-old is close to making a return to management following his departure from Wolves in August last year.

Current Hammers boss David Moyes has come under increasing pressure after a poor run of results that has seen his side win one win of their past nine Premier League games and exit the Europa League in the quarter-finals.

West Ham were thrashed 5-0 by Chelsea on Sunday to leave them ninth in the table.

Moyes, who is out of contract in the summer, has repeatedly fended off questions about his future at the club, saying talks will not take place until after their final game at Manchester City on 19 May.

Former Spain and Real Madrid coach Lopetegui has been linked with numerous jobs since and is thought to be keen on returning to the Premier League after guiding Wolves to safety last term, having joined them when they were bottom of the table.

He won the Europa League with Sevilla in 2020 before moving to Molineux two years later.

Wolves finished 13th under Lopetegui last season but he had become frustrated by the club's financial situation before resigning.

Moyes, meanwhile, presided over three successive European campaigns for the first time in the club’s history and last June ended the Hammers' 43-year wait for a trophy with a last-minute victory over Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League final.

But many fans are critical of what they view as Moyes’ negative tactics.

West Ham are set to appoint Julen Lopetegui as their new manager later this week.

The former Spain and Real Madrid coach was identified as the Hammers’ first choice to replace outgoing boss David Moyes and, earlier this month, agreed to take up the role.

Now the Premier League season is over, Lopetegui’s contract will be signed, allowing him to take over for the start of pre-season, which includes a two-week trip to the United States for matches against Crystal Palace and Wolves.

Ironically, Lopetegui spent the second half of the 2022-23 season with Wolves, guiding the club to safety. However, he left on the eve of the new campaign after issues over transfer funding failed to be resolved.

Moyes revealed after Sunday's 3-1 defeat at Manchester City that he has already received job offers but is likely to spend some time with his family after getting only three weeks off last summer.

The Scot has agreed media commitments with BBC Sport and Talksport at this summer’s European Championships.

West Ham appoint Julen Lopetegui as new manager following David Moyes exit

West Ham have finally confirmed Julen Lopetegui as their new manager, with David Moyes having departed at the end of the season.

Spanish boss Lopetegui, 57, returns to the Premier League less than a year after a spell in charge of Wolves, and takes over a Hammers side which finished ninth in the Premier League and reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

The former Real Madrid and Barcelona goalkeeper departed Molineux on the eve of the 2023-24 season having grown frustrated with the restrictions placed on him in the transfer market by the Midlands side and took a year out of the game.

During that year, he has turned down approaches from the Saudi Pro League, La Liga and even Bayern Munich. West Ham were convinced to appoint him after receiving strong references from Wolves and having been left impressed with his work with Spain's national team earlier in his managerial career.

Lopetegui went unbeaten during his 20 matches in charge of Spain but was sacked on the eve of the 2018 World Cup after Real Madrid announced they had agreed a deal to appoint him for the 2018-19 season. His time at the Bernabeu was a disaster though, with Los Blancos dismissing him after just 14 games.

He then took charge of Sevilla in 2019, winning the Europa League a year later, before performing a relegation rescue mission with Wolves. The Midlands side were rock-bottom of the top-flight when he took over in November 2022.

But he won 10 of his 27 games in charge to eventually secure a 13th-place finish, eight points above the relegation zone.

Lopetegui's appointment has come after Moyes' exit was announced with two games of the season still to play. Owner David Sullivan revealed one of the reasons for the early announcement was to allow Moyes a memorable send-off.

Moyes, who had two spells as Hammers boss, had been in charge of the club the second time around since December 2019, leading them to lifting the Europa Conference League last season. But a disappointing campaign this term spelled the end for the Scot, with club chiefs deciding against renewing his contract once it expired in the summer.

Though they held talks with Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim, Lopetegui quickly emerged as the leading candidate to replace Moyes.

Paqueta accused of betting market yellow cards

West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta has been charged by the Football Association for allegedly getting booked deliberately "for the improper purpose of affecting the betting market".

The four charges relate to a Premier League game against Leicester City on 12 November in 2022, plus 2023 fixtures against Aston Villa on 12 March, Leeds United on 21 May and Bournemouth on 12 August.

The 26-year-old Brazil international had been under investigation since last summer over suspicious betting patterns.

An FA statement said: "It's alleged that he [Paqueta] directly sought to influence the progress, conduct, or any other aspect of, or occurrence in these matches by intentionally seeking to receive a card from the referee for the improper purpose of affecting the betting market in order for one or more persons to profit from betting."

Paqueta, who joined West Ham from Lyon for an initial £36.5m in August 2022, said he was "extremely surprised and upset" by the charges.

"For nine months, I have co-operated with every step of their investigation and provided all the information I can. I deny all the charges in their entirety and will fight with every breath to clear my name," he added.

Paqueta has also been charged with "two breaches of FA Rule F3 in respect of alleged failures to comply pursuant to FA Rule F2", which relates to providing information and documents.

The charges came on the same day the Hammers confirmed the appointment of Julen Lopetegui as their new head coach following the departure of David Moyes.

A West Ham statement said: "The club will continue to stand by and support the player throughout the process."

Paqueta, who has been picked in Brazil's squad for the Copa America next month, has until 3 June to respond to the charge of "misconduct in relation to alleged breaches of FA Rules E5 and F3" subject to any request for an extension.

While this case will be dealt with on its own merits, Paqueta could be facing a lengthy ban if a breach is proven.

Ogbonna leaves West Ham after nine-year stay

West Ham United centre back Angelo Ogbonna is leaving the club after nine years in east London, the Premier League side said on Wednesday.

The 36-year-old Italy international made 201 Premier League appearances for the club and was part of their Europa Conference League-winning side last year.

The former Juventus player struggled with several injuries during his time at West Ham, including a cruciate ligament tear suffered in 2021 that kept him out for almost a year.

"When he was not playing, Ogbonna was always a willing supporter of the club's community work," West Ham said in a statement. "He will always be a beloved member of the West Ham United family."

West Ham sign Dortmund striker Fullkrug for £27m

West Ham have signed Germany striker Niclas Fullkrug from Borussia Dortmund for £27m.

The 31-year-old, who joined Dortmund from Werder Bremen last summer, scored 15 goals in 46 games in 2023-24 and finished as a Champions League runner-up.

He also netted twice during hosts Germany's run to the Euro 2024 quarter-finals, despite not starting a match.

"I'm delighted to be here, and I can't wait to get out on the pitch with my new team-mates," said Fullkrug, who has signed a four-year deal.

"I think the Premier League is the best league in the world, and for me it is the right time to move over to England and play for a big club like West Ham.

"I have been thinking about West Ham for a long time now - I know the technical director Tim Steidten very well, because we have history at Werder Bremen together, and I have watched some games and seen how much quality there is in the team."

Fullkrug is the fifth signing made by new West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui this summer, following the arrivals of former Wolves captain Max Kilman for £40m, Dutch forward Crysencio Summerville from Leeds for more than £25m, goalkeeper Wes Foderingham from Sheffield United and Brazilian winger Luis Guilherme for £25.5m from Palmeiras.

The Hammers, who finished ninth in the Premier League last season, are also interested in a deal for Manchester United full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Nice defender Todibo set for West Ham medical

Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo is set to have a medical with West Ham United on Friday as they aim to beat Juventus to the Frenchman's signature.

The Hammers have agreed an initial season-long loan deal for Todibo that includes a 40m Euros (£34.22m) option to buy in 2025.

Juventus had been the front-runners to sign the 24-year-old, but the Italians have struggled to reach an agreement with Nice.

While a move to London Stadium is not yet certain, it would be a significant coup for the Hammers to edge Juventus to the signing given the Italian club can offer Champions League football.

Manchester United wanted to sign Todibo earlier this summer but were blocked from doing so by Uefa because of Sir Jim Ratcliffe's involvement with Nice as it contravened their associated party transaction rules.

Todibo came through Toulouse's academy before joining Barcelona in 2019. After loan spells with Schalke and Benfica, he joined Nice on a permanent basis in 2021.

The Hammers have been one of the more proactive clubs this summer, with technical director Tim Steidten keen to reshape the squad following David Moyes’ departure.

The club have spent more than £100m since new boss Julen Lopetegui was appointed as Moyes' replacement.

They have signed Dutch forward Crysencio Summerville from Leeds, Germany striker Niclas Fullkrug from Borussia Dortmund, midfielder Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras, defender Max Kilman from Wolves and Argentina midfielder Guido Rodriguez.

West Ham sign £15m Man Utd defender Wan-Bissaka

West Ham United have signed defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United for £15m.

The 26-year-old has penned a seven-year deal with the Hammers.

Wan-Bissaka left Crystal Palace for Manchester United in a £50m move in 2019 and scored two goals in 190 appearances for the Red Devils.

The defender is West Ham's seventh signing of the summer, joining Jean-Clair Todibo, Crysencio Summerville, Luis Guilherme, Niclas Fullkrug, Max Kilman and Guido Rodriguez in moving to London Stadium.

"It was a no brainer for me to join West Ham - I'm excited and happy to be here," said Wan-Bissaka.

"I can't wait to get on the pitch, get to know the players, and push on from there.

"I see a team that is in it together, that will push each other to win, and a group that has got each others' backs through thick and thin, so being part of that and having that insurance helps a lot when you are surrounded by a good squad."

Wan-Bissaka, who was born in London, added it was an "amazing feeling" to return to the capital.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer signed Wan-Bissaka when he was Manchester United manager in 2019 and the defender was first choice until the Norwegian's departure in 2021.

Wan-Bissaka lost his regular starting position after Erik ten Hag's appointment in 2022,al though he still managed 64 appearances under the Dutchman in the past two seasons.
