WI are not very disciplined . They commit far too many unforced errors . I hope this turns out to be a 225 kind low scoring thriller .

Imrul kayes has become a selective minnow basher(read Zimbabwe) .

BD's top order has been putting on too much pressure on middle order. Except in Asia cup final every match they had faultered

Another epic thrashing is coming up for the windies.. Mushy, pls have some mercy on these poor souls.

BD is playing marvellous cricket. Where are those doctored pitch specialists? :lara

Oh man Liton Superstar Das injured, hope he recovers before the World Cup. He has been stretched off the field, hope this is Imrul’s last match

Lolz batting by Miraz. Should go to Australia and take training from Cummimns,Starc

Will Rubel bowl another marvellous 60 runs spell here? Many questions. To find the answer please join me after 40 minutes.

Any memorable innings of him at lower order?

I can’t recall any but given enough opportunities this boy will shine. Sabbir isn’t a good enough replacement, he as an attitude problem and is in the news for the wrong reasons.

Rubel is playing after his scandal. Why not Nasir or Sabbir? My pick us Nasir at lower middle order, best finisher avaliable in BD.

Rubel was falsely accused as we all know the end case and we have seen the end result. Sabbir and Nasir are not hard working, fame got to their head after mediocre performances. Beating up a kid, now who would want a guy like that. This much arrogance is not good.

Nasir is a little too slow, he doesn’t know how to rotate the strike and will have a harder time in finding boundaries. He will be handy with the ball though. Don’t think Nasir will ever make it to the side as he will be competing with Miraz.

Soumya is a gifted player, if he strikes in one match it’s game over

Our captain Bhai is busy with election thinking ,how he will realize that if he would bowl Maudullah 10 overs instead of pacers we would have won. Our spinners gave 78 in 21 overs ,rest were given by our pacers

to be fair, going by the speed, your pacers are not very far off from spinners, this was a really slow, turning pitch.

Such an innings deserves win here, no shame. Oblate WIN has become individualistic team, with lots of individual brilliance. The day, one of their batsmen stands, they can beat any team. In last 6 months I think they have won 3 & tied one - three times Hetmyer played a blinder, twice Hope.

Didn't see today, but last 2 overs had like 8 dots, with 3 wickets at hand - can't and shouldn't win after that. Had WIN won today, it would have been their failure.

Commiserations 😑

Cobgratulations to this young WI side. Huge boost for them to beat a full strength BD ODI side in BD.

Hope had an Ashraful day today, without him WI were losing this by 100+ runs.

One man show, scored over 50% of the whole runs.

Not disappointed as same WI team won one tied one and lost one versus India few weeks back.

I think you still won't be disappointed after west indies win the series, right?

An innings for Shai Hope to remember for his lifetime, great future prospect from windies

Not the first time Hope has done something like this. Quite an underrated ODI bat.

This. WI heavily relies on individual brilliance which comes off sometimes. Because of this the team is mediocre.

If Windies players start playing sensibly, a team like Bangladesh should never be able to beat them.

MMHS worrying signs for bangladesh is no one from the new guys are scoring ,its Musfiq qho is sailing the ship mostly.

No, that's a bit too much; you are taking a chance against BD, because team lost a game against one of the innings of ODI history.

If today Tamim played sensibly, we could have posted 300 here, ...... or I can say had Mushi batted sensibly, IND would have been out of T20 WC at group stages or we could have won the Asia Cup - therefore it works both way. Playing sensible is a skill also, Hetmyer won't be able to play such innings if he was more sensible.

Overall, WIN team isn't better than BD, and in a 5 game series, they'll lose almost every time. Next is a triangular in IRL before WC, and that's their best venue to play cricket - we'll see that time.

Couldn't watch the match properly but it seems like Bangladesh didn't play good cricket. Lots of misfields, drops.

Also our batting in the 2nd half was lacklustre, needed everyone to stick together for longer period of time.

Indeed, 3 main innings were played by 3 seniors, 4 actually if I take Mahmudullah's 30. Phasing a generation is going to be biggest challenge for us. But, I think just 6 months before WC, they won't change or experiment much with this squad. More or less, Shakib, Mushi is 32, Mahmud 33 & Tamim 30-31 - they started as teenagers therefore it looks like they are here for ages, but ideally they are at their peak age now, therefore it's expected that most of the contribution should be from them.

I think, after WC, there will be lots of changes in the squad; Tamim, Mushi should be available for next WC in 2023, Shakib as well as it's in IND; but Mahmud will be phased out for sure. There are young batsmen and I don't think batting is still the biggest concern, but replacing Shakib will definitely be the biggest challenge.

Shai Hope is an excellent prodlect for sure. Windies will definitely do better at the World Cup if the pitches are flat batting beauties.

Samuels is Windies' Hafeez. Powell is not a worthy time investment. Windies need to bring in new players.

And why the hell is Hetmyer down the order again?

WI is having problems with playing our spinners. Why didn't we play 3 spinners with 2 pacers here? If we had, we would have won today . 255 wasn't a bad total at all on this wicket. Our pacers are a big worry. Mashrafee is past his prime, Rubel erratic, Mustafizur isn't that old Mustafiz. If we can't fix it, we shall have trouble in England.

I see WI favorite in Sylhet. We haven't seen any mazic of Heytmar or other top order except Hope. If any two of them fires, we shall loose.

Liton,Imrul,Soumya haven't done anything yet. I always miss Nasir Hossein. We have done a mess by letting this talented and matured finisher go to derailment. He is much more talented and capable than all these 3.

Mashrafee,s pace is low but that of Rubel and Mustafiz is decent. This pitch was not such difficult as one think. BD could have posted 275, but couldn't due to no contribution by our lower order.

I think, they are trying to build a combination for WC and play as a unit with 3 pacers. Otherwise absolutely no reason not to play 3, even 4 spinners against WIN. I think, for decider, they might drop Ruble for a spinner.

Bating order needs to be reshuffled a bit - if Soumya is to play, he should bat at 3 or open with Liton, dropping Tamim at 3.

Hope's brilliant 146 helps Windies level ODI series

An exceptional third ODI century from Shai Hope saw the Windies earn a nail-biting four-wicket win over Bangladesh in the second ODI in Dhaka.

Hope hit 146 from 144 balls, in an innings that featured 12 fours and three sixes, levelling the series after Bangladesh cruised to a five-wicket win in the first ODI.

Windies won the toss and elected to field as Bangladesh’s three batting veterans of Tamim Iqbal, Musfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan came to the fore. All three scored half-centuries as they took Bangladesh to 255/7 from their 50 overs.

The visitors began strongly; Liton Das was struck an unfortunate blow with his left ankle bearing the brunt of an Oshane Thomas yorker, leading to him being taken off the field. Imrul Kayes was to follow Das back to the changing rooms not long after, edging behind without a run to his name.

Tamim Iqbal looked in good nick at the top of the oder Tamim Iqbal looked in good nick at the top of the oder
Tamim and Mushfiqur got Bangladesh back on track, the pair putting on a 111-run partnership. Despite recently returning from injury, Iqbal looked in good touch, striking four fours and treating Keemo Paul to a maximum with a slog over long-on.

Mushfiqur proved to be a fine partner for Tamim, hitting five fours on his way to 62 from 80 balls. The pair were to be interrupted by leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo, who had Tamim caught at deep midwicket, the opener departing shortly after reaching his 43rd ODI fifty.

Iqbal fell soon after, but will Rahim go on to make it a big one?

Mushfiqur was dismissed not long after, finding the keeper as he tried to cut hard at a Thomas delivery. Mahmudullah and Shakib set out to help Bangladesh recover once more, with the pair putting on 61 for the fourth wicket. While Mahmudullah struggled for fluency, Shakib proved to be more destructive, striking 65 from 62 deliveries, hitting six fours and one six.

Nevertheless, Shakib wasn’t to bat through the innings, flummoxed by a Kemar Roach slower ball that crashed into the stumps. Bangladesh’s innings would come to a tame end, as the Windies excelled at the death, mixing up their pace to limit the Bangladesh scoring. Despite the 45th over leaking 16 runs, the Windies proved effective in halting a late-innings onslaught, conceding just five runs across the last two overs.

Windies were dealt an early blow in their reply, losing Chandrapaul Hemraj in the second over, trapped in front of his stumps by Mehidy Hasan Miraz. The spin of Shakib and Mehidy put on the screws in the opening overs, with the first boundary of the Windies innings coming at the end of the seventh over, a Darren Bravo punch through the off-side releasing a bit of pressure.

Hope treated Mustafizur Rahman to a six over wide long-off in his first over, as he began to find some more fluency. Mashrafe Mortaza was deposited for two sixes from the 15th over as Hope and Bravo began to build a solid platform, only for Bravo to be bowled two overs later by Rubel Hossain with 27 runs to his name.

Marlon Samuels joined Hope who continued to play the anchor role, and at 132-2 approaching the 30-over mark, it seemed that the Windies were in control. Their apparent comfort was to be ruined by a Bangladesh fightback, as Samuels (26) edged behind to Mushfiqur, before Hetmyer (14) top-edged to square leg. Rovman Powell (1) followed quickly and the dismissal of Roston Chase (9) saw Windies reeling on 185/6 after 39 overs.

Cue heroics from Hope, who reached his century from 118 balls with a punch through cover from Mortaza for a single. The game continued to swing through the course of the last few overs, and with Windies requiring 32 from 18 balls, it appeared that Bangladesh were set to wrap the series.

No surprise for the Player of the Match in Dhaka - it's shaidhope for a brilliant, match-winning 146* off 144, the joint second-highest individual score for West Indies in a successful ODI chase!

Hope begged to differ, crunching Rubel down the ground for six off the first ball of the 48th over, before depositing Mustafizur for three fours in the penultimate over. Hope received strong support from Paul, who finished off proceedings with two balls to spare, pulling Mahmudullah into the leg-side to run two and level the series.

The final ODI will serve as a decider, and is set to be held on Friday at Sylhet.

I don't understand how this is possible? How can WI go and defeat the greatest team in the world like this?

Why do WI eat so many dot balls when their batsmen can strike big from the get go?

Not the first time Hope has done something like this. Quite an underrated ODI bat.
He's underrated because of a career SR of 70. To be fair, he doesn't always have much support.
Samuels is Windies' Hafeez. Powell is not a worthy time investment. Windies need to bring in new players.

And why the hell is Hetmyer down the order again?
Not sure why Hemraj has been picked. Samuels is well past his sell by date and should've been moved on long ago.

Why don't you rate Darren Bravo ? He is better than a lot of their other batsmen

Media release

DHAKA, Bangladesh- Shai Hope restored a spark in the WINDIES, smashing a brilliant 146 not out, his third ODI century to see the WINDIES win the 2nd ODI against Bangladesh by 4 wickets and level the series at 1-1.

The WINDIES batted second after winning the toss, on a pitch that Captain Rovman Powell felt had more to offer his bowlers bowling first. Chandrapaul Hemraj came into the squad in place of Kieran Powell, but Hemraj’s cameo did not last long as he was trapped LBW to Mehidy for 3. Once again the WINDIES lost an opening batsman without a solid foundation.

Shai Hope was joined by Darren Bravo and the similar batting style of pair meant that it was a slow rebuild of the WINDIES innings. They squeezed out singles and two’s while keeping close enough to the required run-rate but never going ahead of it. Bravo at one point looked ready to turn on the batting flare he’s known for, striking a four and six on his way to 27. However, Rubel Hossein had other ideas, Bravo looking to play his trademark flick off the pads, was bowled behind his legs. The 65-run partnership was broken and the WINDIES were 70/2 in the 17th over.

Marlon Samuels never looked settle at the crease, a continuation from the previous match, despite striking 2-fours and a six, he soaked up 46 dot balls for his 26 runs. Despite his slow scoring, both Samuels and Hope were able to add 62 runs together before Mustafizur Rahman had him caught behind and the WINDIES were 132/3. Shimron Hetmyer came to the wicket, seeking to make amends for the lack of runs in the previous match but his dry-spell continued. He struck one lofty six straight back to the media centre, which gave a glimmer of hope that he would have a big innings with Hope to take the WINDIES to victory but Rubel Hossein had him caught in the deep for 14.

Rovman Powell was next in, struggling for form since the India tour, the WINDIES interim Captain had the perfect opportunity to make amends. But once again his opposite number Mashrafe Mortaza scalped his wicket for 1, when he holed out to Sarkar on the boundary. Worry began creeping into the team when the last recognized batsman who could take the team to victory with Hope was out. Roston Chase got his 9 runs via singles and twos before Mustafizur had him caught by Tamim. The WINDIES now 185/6 in the 39th over.

The ever dangerous and dependable Keemo Paul joined Hope in the wicket. Paul smashed 36 in the last match to lift the WINDIES to a reasonable total. All eyes were on him now for a repeat performance. He too started slowly as Mashrafe utilized his bowlers wisely and they too kept to their line and length, cramping Paul for space and limiting his shot selection. Hope reached his third ODI century, his previous two tons all came in matches that ended in draws, this time he was determined to carry the WINDIES across the line to victory.

Paul and Hope played a game of patience, biding their time and not going for wild shots, despite Paul’s attempts at a few swings which resulted in dot balls instead of runs. The last 2 overs saw them go after Rubel and Mustafizur.

Needing 32 runs from 18 deliveries, Rubel Hossain’s over became Hope’s target to make a move. First ball of the over he smashed it straight back over the bowler’s head for 6 and silence filled the Sher-E-Bangla ground, as the WINDIES were now officially back into the game. 4 more runs would come from that over, leaving the WINDIES to get 22 runs from the last 2 overs. Mustafizur started on target but his third delivery was a no ball, Hope seized the opportunity and shifted to another gear. Next ball he smacked for 4 past point and followed it up with another past wide long-off. It was not over ,as Hope played a “Dilscoop” over the keeper for another boundary. 16 runs from the penultimate over, just what the WINDIES needed.

Needing a run a ball in the final over, Keemo Paul nudged the ball into the spread field for 2 runs, he followed it up with a single, then Hope got one of his own. Needing 2 from 2, Paul pulled Mahmudullah out to the fielder in the deep and ran hard, picking up the required 2 runs. The WINDIES dugout was celebrating before Hope and Paul reached them, it meant the series was tied at 1-1 with all to play for in the third match on Friday in Sylhet.

WINDIES 256/6 with 2 balls to spare. Shai Hope 146 not out and Keemo Paul 18 not out. Rubel Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman had 2/57 and 2/63 respectively.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh were sent in to bat first. Opener Liton Das had to be stretchered off and to the hospital for scans after injuring himself while batting. Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan were the run-scorers for the home team, scoring 50, 62 and 65 respectively as Bangladesh posted 255/7 from their 50 overs. Oshane Thomas’ pace kept the home team pegged back from posting a big score. The gentle giant took 3/54 with his blistering pace.

Speaking afterwards, Shai Hope said, “The wicket was a bit difficult to strike from ball one… but Keemo played a very crucial hand at the end for us to win. It’s about pacing the innings, I knew someone had to bat deep and I had the option to start at the top of the order so I had all 50 overs, just a bit disappointing that some of the guys got out in the middle stage… but the aim was to bat as deep as possible to make sure as long as I’m out there we were going to win the game.”

Bangladesh will set the record straight in upcoming games. WI win was an anomaly. It is difficult for them to win in subcontinental conditions to start with, plus them being a bit low on talent lately is another reason.

Shai Hope seems to be the only good batsman in WI cricket at the moment. Great player in comparison to the rest

Congrats West Indies, good knock by Hope.

Major changes needs to be made to the Bangladesh Team, too many free riders in the team. Also, when you are substituting a fielder please replace him with a Jonty type fielder but we replace with Kamral Akmal type.

The loss was good for Bangladesh. A series loss will be even better as Deadweights will be replaced for good.

They have few hitters in the team . If two of them fires they can win against any team.Problem is they don't have accumulators in the batting line up. They have good pacers too. This team is an individual mazic based team, no team work. Otherwise they have ingredients to be a good ODI side.

What a great win this for West Indies. Superb innings by Hope.
