Gabriel and Joseph vs our openers will be fun. Don't expect them to last long.

Gabriel got smashed in the 2 ODIs he played in UAE, he's overhyped, he got some pace but nothing special overall

The Windies are very poor as are PK, its all set for a good series. Still amazed that Hetmyer is not in this terrible Windies team.

If West Indies can put out pitches with some life, they will beat pakistan easily

For once someone is matching Pakistan for their mediocrity. Gabriel is under -ordinary, a typical case of pakistans batsmen making a sub standard bowler look good, as they did in the UAE tests were gabriel picked up a fiver. Anything other than 3-0 and i would be dissapointed

Carter, Cummins, Hope, Nurse, Powell, Powell, Walton.

We should be ashamed if its not a 3-0.

Pakistan is in a no win situation regardless of what happens.

We should clean sweep this given the opposition, but that will just mask massive issues and lead to a rude awakening.

I'm sure Mickey will know of these issues, but selectors will think all is fine and players will come out lauding there performances.

Out of the squad owing to problems with the board.

He is the only decent batsman from WI these days. Would have been a good competition for our bowlers. I hope WI batsmen put some good fight, else it is going to be another dull series after the T20s.

Shai Hope is a talented young batsmen. I wrote him off initially as I thought he was brought into the national team too soon but he's been excellent in recent domestic competitions.

Miguel Cummins is also a promising young pacer, he did well for Worcestershire in the County Championship last year. However he's more of a FC than a limited overs bowler.

So I wouldn't group them with the others who indeed are pretty mediocre.

Gabriel is not substandard, he troubled the England batsmen in the recent ODI series. Can hit 150kph, extract bounce and getting the ball to seam.

He's bowling with more control now, but fitness has been problematic.

I doubt it, their batting is horrific.

No one is abysmal against pace as we are. You just need to look at how West Indies beat us in the champions trophy and the World Cup last time

This is why it's so difficult to draw any positives from this series. I just look at those squad and the champions trophy. They can score 600 here and dismiss West Indies for 10 and it will have be bearing on the embarrassment that awaits us at the CT

Sadly its eerily similar to the last Champions trophy, an aged one dimensional team that is about to be humiliated. Only difference being our bowling should hopefully be slight more potent.

Waiting to see how "explosive" opener 35 year old TTF tackles the pace of Gabriel and Joseph.

Pakistan will win because of their bowlers. Then out TTFs can take their time getting to the target

He was the best bowler during the test series vs Pakistan in the UAE, so he certainly isn't overhyped.

LO cricket isn't his fortè.

Got 4 wickets in one innings and 5 in another in tests in UAE and made Root, Roy and other English openers look like tailenders a month ago.

in the last series he only took 3 wickets in 2 matches, he got Root and Roy out early in the 1st match but overall he was kinda expensive, and both of them scored 50+ in the second game

That was a rhetorical question.

He would have made up for the Test strike-rate we're likely to see from Shehzad.
Despite WI renowned for producing big hitters nearly all their batsman play at fairly low strike rates in LO cricket.

With Kraigg there they would be barely crossing 200.

If you saw his opening spell you would understand what I meant, liek another poster said, ODI isn't his strongest format but he's stong enough to kill the GOATs Kami and Shezzi Boi.

:kakmal:shehzad

I watched his bowling in the last series and in the UAE series as well.
Let's see if he's able to complete his quota in 2 matches in a row, he has serious injuries issues I'm sure you know it as well. I know he's better in tests but this thread is about Odis not tests.

he is good against pace escpecially anything little wide he will slash at it hard to the point or cover, if they bowl straight wicket to wicket or little outside off stump he will not last an over...

darren bravo, marlon sameuls and Lendl simmons are their best bats currently....After the IPL these guys simply dont play a full strength team ever....their ODI squad was quite decent with Dwayne Bravo as captain but after the half-ended series they aren't competitive at all...their squad should have been as below

Gayle
Smith/Charles
bravo
Simmons
Ramdin (wk)
Samuels
Bravo
Pollard
Sammy
Rampaul
Narine
Badree
Russell
Alzarri Joseph
Gabriel

not even their captain can make it to the actual team that they can put up if there were no fight between players vs board
