What's new

West Indies reach 49/1 at Stumps on Day 4, with 280 runs needed to win the 2nd Test against Pakistan

Pakistan need to finish this before lunch, otherwise Pak are in pole position to take this.

Take the wickets bat the whole afternoon session out and have them come out at the back end of tea.

This comment may not go down well but there is absolutely nothing about Babar that screams leadership material looking at his body language. Rizwan seems more dynamic.

Having said that fine batsman and a very good cricketer though but seems out of place as a captain.

I am so glad that Abbas doesn’t play LOI. I would be really nervous the Indian top order facing him. Not so concerned with likes of Shaheen and Hassan Ali. Bowlers like that are a bigger threat for india.

Abbas is a good bowler. If only he bowled between 130-135 instead of 125, he would be a great bowler.

I mean Azhar Ali when I wrote it.

I'd back Shan Masood to get more swing than Abbas.

He has nothing apart from seam movement that goes away after his first spell.

A curb your enthusiasm moment for us both lol.

Pak in pole position now. Wooooooooooooooooooooooo!

You need to score runs to save the game , they are still trailing by 186 runs , with just 2 wickets in hand

Even if we manage to get a 150 lead, if Pakistan manage another 100-120 runs they should be happy with that target.

Pakistan need to get WI out within the next 5-6 overs. They should then look to bat quickly during the next season and a half and set WI a target of 300+ and declare. Pak need to ensure that WI come out to bat during the end of the day. That is a great time to pick up a couple of quick wickets.

Pak needs to get last two asap and then bat the rest of the day today at a decent pace. Then try to bowl out WI on the final day. Obviously assuming rain stays away

The two openers that Pakistan have got are so terrible. Can't believe how these two replaced a couple of other guys who were before him and doing fine enough. Think one was Shan Masood. No Harris Sohail these days either.

I think even if we set a target of around say 250-280 i.e. get another 100-130 runs batting again (assuming WI trail by 150 runs post lunch) then this would suffice.

Shan was terrible as well but he's definitely better than these guys.

Really pleased with the bowling effort, sets things up nicely to post a big lead later on. Hopefully we can repeat this on day 5 to bowl them out.

2 quick wickets, then 100 quick runs with the bat. if we lose 2-0 trying to draw series then so be it.

We've survived that rain scare, so it's all clear for the rest of the day and tomorrow is clear weather as well

Great chance to win this match if the weather is ok.

Wrap up the last 2 wickets, score quick, put them in.

Still plenty of day left assuming no rain. Getting them around 160-170 and scoring quickly for around 120-150 runs should be enough.

Jason holder playing our spinner abbas how it shud be played...he is v agood allrounder

Abbas is being played like a spinner here. Just sad stuff.

Holder setting up a template for West Indies to follow.

Nauman Ali will have a role to play in the West Indies 2nd innings.

Especially if a follow on is enforced.

Shaheen deserved the 5fer.

Hoping he gets a 6fer as well.

Hasan Ali needs to get amongst the wickets by bowling more stump-to-stump.

Yep true but luck is luck lol. I will take that, we needed Pak to get wickets cheaply and we have.

Awesome test cricket!

Who says t20 cricket is exciting?

What is harm trying to bowl Nauman for couple of overs against tailendets?

Well your pacers are getting the most purchase although yes might not be a bad idea.

My prediction is coming true though, get a 150 lead add 100-130 more runs tonight and put them out to bat.

yesssssssssssssssss.

Exactly what i was hoping now bat this session out, along with most of tea and put them out to bat.

Well done Babar! Fab catch.

Time for batsmen to score quickly without worrying about their stats

Top stuff from Pakistan and Shaheen Afridi. 170-180 would be enough to declare from here on.

okay, how many will our top3 make,
will Imran Butt ever reach double figures for the series?

stay tuned

Let's go Green Machine!!!

Hopefully high run rate next session and put Windies back in for tense few overs end of the day!

Why they bother coming out first 3 batters, wasting precious time. Just start with babar and fawad

Great effort by Shaheen and co to bowl out WI for 150 on a pitch which is pretty good for batting.

Time to score a quick 130-150 in 40-45 overs.

Imran Butt in particular has lots to lose if he does not try to stay in for long to score some runs, so I do not see him go into attack mode.

Pakistan need to bat max 30-35 over here as we will probably lose some to bad light tonight. we need a 100 overs to bowl at WI.

Abid makes a strong case for one of the least talented test batters we've ever played.

So awkward and ungainly. Hard to watch

Positive intent has already given a better opening start than last 3 innings

He's got a Mushfiqur Rahim style and don't know why he's not succeeded but come the end of this series both Butt and Abid must be dropped. Too many chances have been awarded and it's evident they are not of a high quality from their success against Zimbabwe and failure against better bowling line-ups.

Come on Abid, score some soft runs and get selected for the next WTC edition.
