3 day match=great pitch?
This is an extremely poor pitch

This is an ideal pitch

Spinner and quick bowler both take a 5-fer,both sides evenly matched until a super human innings was played

No worries, I'm sure Peter Moores will have a lot of data to look into. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Far from a poor pitch. There has been some great bowling and very poor batting.

Agreed.. Very poor batting from English batsman in 2nd inning. They didn't get out to unplayable deliveries.. They very were timid and overly defensive which got them into trouble in the end.

This pitch isn't some green mamba or something. There is just enough for the pacers, spinners and for batsman with test class technique and temperament.

Some people just can never be pleased, the cry if it's a draw and call it a road, and they cry if it helps bowler and match end in 3 days but mostly due to incompetence of batsman but instead they call it poor pitch, cut me some slack.

I would see this is near perfect pitch, but the modern batsman are so used to on playing roads that they start shredding even at sight of a slightest sporting pitch and can't even handle just above average bowling. Just imagine where most of these modern batsman would be rated of most current pitches are like this. Can't see anyone having test average of 50 in that case.

Pitches with more dramatic movement don't usually yield more wickets because the ball beats the bat very often and doesn't always get the edge. Besides most pitches/conditions in NZ-SA-Aus are quite new ball heavy where batting gets a lot easier after about 30 overs. Here its moving a little bit throughout the game.

What a class shot from Shai. :four Backfoot punched through the covers.

Brothers veerasamy perumal bowled well in 2nd innings :moali. Hoping for some useful contribution with the bat as well from brother veerasamy :amla

The most Ideal pitch. Pitches like this can help test cricket to sustain.

Jonathan Trott having a horrible comeback. No runs to speak of and now made cookie waste a review.

Exactly, the batsmen of previous generations who would have to play on uncovered pitches wouldn't have had any problems with this pitch. The pitch is OK and Blackwood himself came out and said the pitch isn't a minefield. Modern day batsmen are so spoiled that anything not resembling a road is alien to them.

Fantastic Test in progress, still very close since England have taken a couple of quick wickets.

crucial 35 run partnership going on here.
West Indies ahead in the game now!

An interesting test match comes once in a blue moon, most of them are tuk tuk borefests ending up in draws. I've seen far more entertaining t20 matches. Long live t20's and odi's!

Chanderpaul should retire after this test and Samuels should be thrown out. Both are dead weight.

I think Chanders needs to realise his time is up. Might hang around to overtake Lara's run tally, though... :sachin

As I said Chanderpaul and Samuels are dead weight. Should be dropped after this game.

England tightening the screws now.
England are the favourites here IMO.

Better from the Windies. They were 37-4 in the first innings.

Samuels' recent record is decent tbh. And on a flat track he can really do some damage. No point in Chanderpaul sticking around though.

Overall encouraging signs for WI cricket. Brathwaite and Blackwood are the future of WI batting. Bravo is the best of the lot obviously and will be the main man once Chanders goes. I really liked Kieran Powell as well but he seems to have been dropped.

Eng quickly needs a wicket here otherwise game is as good as gone.

C'mon Windies.

Chnaderpaul seriously needs to retire. He is a complete liability now.

Windies have got this. The missed stumping by Buttler of Blackwood when he was on 4 proving costly.

Phil Simmons era has started positively, Windies have showed fighting spirit in all Tests. If he can lift the Windies like he did with Ireland then things are looking up, especially with youngsters like Blackwood coming through. Old guard like Chanderpaul and Devon Smith should be moved on, as well as those who only care for IPL $$$.

1-1 would be a decent result. Not bad for a 'mediocre' side - Bravo now turning on the style !
